Hydroxychloroquine is needed to treat diseases like malaria and knee pain which are more prevalent in vegetable-eating Sanghi country. As such BD was not producing it before corova-19 appeared. I have no idea if BD companies have any plan to produce this item. No sure remedy for corona has yet been developed. Many countries are experimenting treatment with many different chemicals and Hydroxychloroquine is one such item.

My research has found that in order for India to produce Hydroxychloroquine API it must import some key raw materials and intermediates from China, or South Korea, or Italy or Finland. It can not manufacture on its own.

PARIS: French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi said Friday it had decided to donate 100 million doses of hydroxychloroquine, the decades-old anti-malaria drug touted by some as a potential weapon against the novel coronavirus, across 50 countries.

In a statement, the company said it increased its production capacity by 50% across its eight hydroxychloroquine manufacturing sites worldwide, adding it was on track to quadruple it by the summer.

“Sanofi is calling for coordination among the entire hydroxychloroquine chain worldwide to ensure the continued supply of the medicine if proven to be a well-tolerated and effective treatment in COVID-19 patients", it said.

This drug is not proved to be effective. There are more then 20 other drugs are in clinical trial. So not sure why trump is whinning about this one. There is a Japanese drug which china claim to be most effective. But more studies needed. My Chinese friends told me some harbs from china also very helpful. You can buy those in Vancouver. At the end there is no silver bullet yet.
