"India has become slave of US, begging for protection from China" says Congress leader Manishankar Aiyar at Indo-Russian event

China's real concern is not territory; but the intent of India to join hands with US to harm China. China's territorial claims are merely pressure tactics to stop India from becoming an active ally of US against China.

Does anyone care what Congress thinks about anything? They are a party of nothing. They have no ideas besides recycling socialist-flavored BS. They have no foreign policy to speak of except this NAM nonsense. Bhai, we are in 2021, things have changed considerably. Lastly, the party lacks any charismatic leaders. That Congress is a personality cult says it all. This Rahul Gandhi is no future PM no matter how much they trained to be one.

That China seems to like Congress also says loads as well. Gladly, Congress will walking in the political wilderness until it can offer something other than drivel.

By 1959 LAC, do you mean this? China will go back if India accepts this line? If you think so, then I have a plot of land to sell you on moon

China keeps a sort of vagueness in it's territorial claims, at public level; but, I believe, that Indian higher officials would be aware of the real status of these claims. Core issue, in my view, is that India and China don't trust each other at all and this thing makes any resolution difficult.

I'll have to disagree.

While most urban Indians would love to work or settle in US, the Indian establishment has deep seated reservations about aligning with US. This is partly because of the historical cold war alliances in the region. Beyond that, Indian establishment also entertains multi-polar ambitions that prevent India from aligning with US the same way that other countries would. You can see evidence for this in India's attitude at free trade negotiations with the US.

The Indian side would wish that it was a mere trust deficit problem. It is not the case. India simply cannot acquiesce to China's demands from a position of weakness that it finds itself.

Indians still believe profit they get from US will be more than the loss by hurting China. China will tell them otherwise.

There is not much difference in what you are saying and what I am propositioning. I substantially agree with what you are arriving at. 😊

Indians were starving for food at that time and we had to do whatever we were told to do by the US to get food grains in return to feed the people.
so was china. You don't burn your neighbor's house to keep your house lit.
India still houses dalailama and occupies what was historically south Tibet .
India always painted China in bad light.
There's something wrong here.

I read somewhere that Dalailama works for CIA. If true what can India do? India is at the mercy of the US.

The statement is just domestic politics.
But you are right: It is true that for decades after Independence, India had literally mass starvation episodes. I think even into the 1970s news would come out from India of grave food crises. Very sad. But, yes, it was Nehru who saw a really weak China and a strong Western backing and started the Forward Policy. While India may have been in the Soviet Camp most of the Cold War, the West would always support any non-communist country against a communist country. Nehru made a historic blunder then. Then BJP openly called China the greatest enemy of India after India tested its nukes in 1998. Then barely 2-3 years ago, BJP openly laid claimed on Aksai Chin, on top India's association in the Quad and threatening China's land connection with Pakistan and CPEC projects.
Some major miscalculations by both Congress and BJP leaders otherwise China was happy to keep the status quo. And as the gap between the two countries keeps widening I don't think China will ever trust India. China is beyond the previous status quo equations anyway.

There are no calculations or miscalculations. India just does whatever the US asks India to do.

After reading so many replies, I finally find a correct reply. Ladakh is a no man's land. Southern Tibet is difficult to rule and has no resources, so from the beginning, southern Tibet was a bargaining chip ready to be abandoned. Of course, China's purpose is not because of territory. India's hostility and India's approach and threat to CEPC are the reasons why China is angered.

Nehru said that Tibet is a useless land where not a single blade of grass grows. India does not have any interest in any land. India just does what she is asked to do by the US.

What China needs to do is to take control of India from within India like US and the Soviets and change the Indian policy towards China.

You have a too pessimistic view of your country's leadership. On the contrary, India gains a lot in the largely mutually beneficial relationship with America. But India could have gained those benefits while NOT so overtly antagonizing China. For decades, China was not as supportive of Pakistan as now. The Chinese would always say something like 'Why can't we all get along?' when India-Pakistan had problems. Things have changed drastically in last few years and I wouldn't be surprised IF/When America promises to look the other way the Chinese would grab more land from India and neutralize whatever threat India may pose against CPEC. Who knows what Biden-Xi have spoken in their recent 3 hour talk?? Big powers have historically made secret agreements where smaller powers are used as pawns even if they are supposed allies.

I arrived at this conclusion, about 5 years ago, after extensive reading of available literature on 1962 War and it's background, from a variety of sources.
