Still,our defence budget amounts for only 6.47 % of our budget expenditure ( or 1.8 % of GDP )which is fairly low.

For comparison education gets 11 % - a whopping $ 66 billion allocation.

If we start spending 3 % of our GDP in defense,we can have a $ 70 billion defense budget .Alas

We already have LRSAM ,Akash and possble Spyder for short range .
S400 version having 400 km would be the real choice of our defence force .That is our necessity.

I see, AF and Navy have been going really good but India needs to work on the Infantry really badly... Improve their physical condition and give them better equipment. I've seen Indian soldiers at Sialkot working boundary many times...

You don't get it. 10 billion is 25% of our annual defence budget. The S-400s won't be paid for in one go, it will be spread out over a few years. Just like any other major purchase. It won't all come at once either, they would come one unit at a time. Russia would need time to manufacture, and India would need time to absorb the technology. (After training enough people to operate the first, they would start training the next team and so on.)

Such complex systems can neither be made nor inducted in one year.

Army and Navy still has plenty of funds that need to be allocated

Even this is untrue, the IAF have around $100 BN USD to spend on capital aqustions by 2024 and the costs of large capital outlay projects like Rafale and FGFA will be spread out over 10-12 years so contrary to a lot of idiotic conclusions, the IAF can easily afford BOTH.

+ The IA is actually in the most distress on this front given their abysmal OPEX:CAPEX ratio, they barely have enough funds to spend on new kit and are still expanding. By 2025 they will just about be in the finacial posistion the IN is in today (in terms of the size of tis CAPEX budget).

Wouldn't that exhaust your already exhausted defense budget?

HAHHAHA basically this thing helping Pakistan a lot. More and more spending on defence budget is actually help USA & Russian economy, on the other side Pakistan has enough capability to destroy India from various method (WMD) particular. How this help Pakistan, further spending on hardware is basically further more budget allocations to defence rather thn other side. In fact India also has enough military hardware but these deals actually further depend India on others. India is the only so called supa powa topi drama (largest military holder) who is dependent entirely on other countries from military hardware unlike, France, UK, Russia, China, USA and off course Pakistan is slowly steady less dependent on western hardware...
