India dumps Iran, squeezes Obama

Pragmatism isn't betrayal. We all know who has more to offer- the US or Iran. The Iran-India relationship has always been one of necessity and not genuine friendship.

Necessity as well as friendliness.

But given the concerns of Israel, which is also a friend and partner, some cuts are unavoidable. 11% is not too high, I think up to 15% is OK.

Best for the parties to settle their dispute.

I have been saying that this is not a good time for Iran to be inflexible. Better to develop its economy and industrial base, remain in peace with others in the region.

BTW, China has also cut oil purchases from Iran ... why the focus on India.

world second biggest population, biggest democracy, largest arms importer, largest growing economy takes orders from US. Very strange.

We take orders from no one dude.

In your case the US doesn't even issue orders, it just barges into your home wrecks up the place and walks away without even apologising, while your venerated military and you seethe and moan.

You people are the biggest bunch of loosers I have seen. India increases its trade with Iran finding bypasses to US sanctions, while you people are finding ways to earn more dollars by letting US walk over you. Pakistan has soveriegnty....I doubt it.

.
Really???So if your leaders are bribed will they give up nukes??? Will they give up Kashmir?? Hell these things cross the red lines. But drones are within the red lines.
there is a subtle difference. Our leaders are bribed and or bullied and do not do what the majority of Pakistanis want. In the case of India that is not the case lots of these lot come on and are so chuffed about their in effect proxy status

You are obsessed with "white". Slaves are looking for some slave company everywhere. You won't get it.You're alone. Now with supply lines of NATO opening, gear up for some music. Don't worry about India. We will sort out with both Iran and America.
Well Indian leaders had a photo taken at thee feet of a white former air hostess. My suggestion is that India is bowing to Americans who are predominately white in taking diktat on Iran from them

.
Well, this is fabulous news. I for one, am supportive of the decision to cut oil imports from Iran.

.
Man you're brutally honest but don't be harsh on your country. Your leadership is dealing with blunders committed by earlier leaders since the past 30-40 years.
And we are taking their holy words by opening the NATO supply route for dollars..let us look into our own collar first instead of worrying about India...

.
+ they didn't help themselves by launching terrorist acts on Indian soil.
Dont spread garbage, where is your evidence that Iran is behind so called ''terrorist acts'' on Indian soil ? It is easy to blame a country which is isolated and sanctioned for decades. Easy target eh ?

.
So far Indian government has not blamed Iran for any terrorism in Indian soil. As far as I know.

The blunders in the name of trying to create a new superstitious identity instead of settling with what we have.. covering the ground facts with sugar loathed doctrine..this was bound to happen..Pakistani society has no fabric left to unit them and it will continue to fragment over time...eventually leading to more instability.

.
My guess is slowly this realization is creeping in that playing with extremism is dangerous. I think many in Pakistan want to undo the blunders of the past but the lure of Afghanistan is still holding them back.
At the very least India and Pakistan should advocate out a neutral govt for Afghanistan.

The Barack Obama administration will be delighted that the sustained diplomatic and political pressure on India is finally bearing fruit. Tehran, on the other hand, will view this as the unkindest cut of all the blows that New Delhi has inflicted on it over the past five year. Meanwhile, a protagonist lurking in the shade is all excited - Saudi Arabia

Did you lot not read the above

Actually, I liked the protagonist-antagonist part...;) but I thought KSA is one of the directors of this interesting play.

For undoing the blunders of the past I guess they need to first sensitize their population on their history.. Otherwise as the saying goes it will only come to "Bhains ke aage been/pungi bajana" - to play been in front of a buffalo

. .
actually it was posted on the forums by Indian members. I have since tried to look for it an been unsuccessful

Difficult to believe you, but someone who makes statements without backing is usually considered a lunatic or lair or too juvenile .

So when you make such bizarre statements next time don't be surprised with other posters reactions

.
US sanctions on India will impact private Indian firms conducting business with Iran but on a state to state level we can still maintain and expand ties.
