India does not have an ICBM programme

Congrats for 1000th post. You said the ultimate words of this thread for which it was started.

hey thx bro, yup sometimes all the technical language makes is of no use, simple common sense can do wonders. An ICBM isn’t a big deal for India keeping in mind how advanced our space program is. But maintaining an ICBM program with human capital cost, maintenance cost, research, facility and overhead, logistics etc etc cost is basically a waste when India's major enemies are now within our range. We have other pressing issues than to spend money on missiles we don’t need.

Only in India where an MRBM can can be an ICBM. I'm certain that scientist in the US and Russia are idiots. They spending all those money and resources developing ICBM when they could have just made IRBMs ICBMs.

Agni 3 can carry 1.5 ton to 3500km. WE DO NOT NEED 1.5 ton warhead. just ONE 200kg warhead itself speaks a lot of yeild.
An ICBM does not mean that it has to be MIRVed.
( but we don't need an ICBM)

So India has no ICBM capability because its government feels that India does not need one. This doesn't mean that a smaller warhead can be placed on the current MRBM to make the missile an ICBM. In any case, this reasoning is just ridiculous that i will cease further commenting.

Why don't you read the last pages of the thread and you'll get all your answers.

BTW India doesn't need an ICBM at least before next decade

Agni 3/5 are enough for Pakistan and China, the two countries India seems to be worried about at this stage. So it makes sense not to go for ICBM's! What is needed is to have SSBN's with 10-12 SLBM's each having 3000-5000 km range! A fleet of 4 to 6 should provide india with credible second strike capability to cripple any nation! I hope govt. of india makes/ has made bigger SSBN developments a priority!

that should be more than a priority considering our no first use policy..and enemy is not stupid enough dat he will target civilian areas first and den vital missile installations.(i think in war time apart from airfields, missile installations n oil reserves r under greater threat than anything else)thanks though
