Royal Enfield launches Continental GT

Royal Enfield has launched its Continental GT at a price of Rs 2.05 lakh. It is available with red and new yellow shades. The on-road price of Continental GT at Delhi and Mumbai are Rs. 2, 05,026 lakh and Rs. 2, 14, 043 lakh respectively.



Continental GT gets the tried-and-tested single-cylinder air-cooled Unit Construction Engine (UCE) which has been upgraded to 535cc with a re-mapped ECU and lower inertia to deliver that extra punch and responsiveness that is so essential to its café racer character. The engine can deliver maximum power output of 29.1 bhp at 5100 rpm and 4.49kgm of maximum torque at 4000 rpm. The engine system is mated to 5 speed gearbox (1-down,4-up pattern).

Mr. Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director and CEO, Eicher Motors Limited (the parent company of Royal Enfield) said, “The Continental GT is inspired by the café racers of the 1960s in its form and simplicity; and it captures the feeling of freedom, fun and responsiveness that riders were trying to achieve then and brings it into the modern context. Triumph releases 250cc sports bike sketch
Triumph, the British motorcycle manufacturer plans to launch a 250cc motorcycle in 2015.It has released the official sketch of its 250cc motorcycle. The company plans to build a new plant at Narsapura,Bangalore.In that plant, the company’s entry level 250cc motorcycle will be manufactured and exported to other countries.



Triumph, 250cc motorcycle will get single cylinder with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The sketch shows the telescopic front forks, single disc brakes at the front and rear and a non split seat. There are two possible versions from Triumph that the naked version and the full faired version. The full faired version will compete with the motorcycles like Honda CBR 250R, Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

Triumph launches 10 motorcycle models in India
The largest UK motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph has launched ten motorcycles of its iconic and prestigious models. These models are priced in the range from Rs 5.7 lakh to 20lakh.The 6 models out of 10 will be came from Thailand as CKD(Completely Knocked Down) units and the other four models will be imported as CBU(Completely Built Units).



Bonneville, Bonneville T100, Thruxton, Street Triple, Speed Triple, Tiger 800 XC, Tiger Explorer, Daytona 675 R, Thunderbird Storm, Rocket III Roadster are the ten models introduced from five categories including Classics, Roadsters, Adventure, Cruisers and Super sports. Triumph will open its showrooms in Hyderabad and Bangalore by December.It plans to expand the dealer workshops like Ahmadabad, Chennai, Kolkatta, Kochi, Pune by March 2014

Sri City plant that manufactures trains for chennai metro is to be inaugurated in January
The Sri City plant that will manufacture trains for Chennai Metro will be inaugurated in a special economic zone, 70 km from the city, in January.

France-based Alstom Transport bagged a contract worth Rs. 1,431 crore from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for manufacturing 42 trains. Of the 42, nine will be manufactured in Sao Paolo, Brazil, and the remaining at the Sri City plant located in Nellore district on the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border.

“We may inaugurate the plant in mid-January and soon after that, we will deliver the first train manufactured in our plant to CMRL,” said a senior official of Alstom Transport.

Chennai Metro Rail, built at a cost of Rs. 14,600 crore, will have two corridors — one, running from Washermenpet to Chennai airport, and the other, from Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount.

Alstom began work on manufacturing the trains late in 2012. Recently, Alstom was also chosen to supply 69 trains for Riyadh Metro. These, sources said, may be manufactured in the Sri City plant itself. “We are not sure of the plan. It could be manufactured in any of our other units too,” he said.

While the first train manufactured in Sao Paolo arrived in Chennai late in May, the second and third trains landed here on Wednesday.

Trial run in March

The test run of the first train was conducted in the first week of November. The trial run is expected to take place in March next year and the first line from Koyambedu to Alandur is likely to be operational by mid-2014.

There will always be some construction in progress some where. But all RCC bridges are painted after applying Lapi or Birla putti sort of thing.

I meant those Blore metro bridges is still under construction. They may paint it later once all works are finished.

BMTC to test run electric bus in the city



In a few weeks, we will see an electrically operated K9 bus making rounds of the city. The bus, which has already arrived in Bangalore and is stationed in BMTC’s Shantinagar depot, armed with an Automobile Research Institute of India (ARI) certification, is awaiting permission (temporary registration) from the Transport Commissioner before it can operate on city roads.

Confirming this, officials in BMTC said that a letter had been written to the Transport Commissioner. “We plan to run trial operations of the bus for three months before any decision is made on purchasing it. It depends on how it performs on the city’s roads. We have also received permission from BESCOM with regard to additional power that will be needed to charge the buses,” said a BMTC official.

The bus, the K9 D Specs, comes with four Ferrous batteries, each with a capacity of 540 Volts. Manufacturers of the bus claim that it can run a distance of 250 kms once the batteries are fully charged for six hours and this is what BMTC wants to check.

The charging facility of the bus will be set up at Kempegowda bus station. BESCOM has sanctioned additional power of 90,000 volts, said BMTC officials. The corporation, however, has not decided on which route the bus will operate, although it is likely that it will be put on long, congested roads to see how the bus fares in these conditions. Four drivers will also be trained in operating the bus.

The air-conditioned vehicle, weighing 14,300 kgs, is 12 metres long and has a seating capacity of 29, plus a wheelchair, besides the driver. It can run at a maximum speed of 96 km per hour and can go from 0-50 km per hour in 20 seconds.

The bus is currently running in countries like China (Shenzen - 300 buses), Singapore and Malaysia said Vishwas Shetty, director, Utopia Automation and Control. “We have slightly modified it to suit Indian conditions and we hope that it works out here,” he said.

Haha RAWamy - I'd never heard that term before I saw it here on PDF. An asset you say? Hahaha Before anyone ever calls him that, the first thing he needs to grow is a pair of you-know-what, and perhaps even half a brain. Now anyone who equates the construction of a mass transit rail system with the failures of short-term flyover construction as a means of traffic alleviation, is not someone our country (or any sane person) would call an asset. If that's not retarded, I don't know what is.
