India Deployed Combat Jets Mistaking Migratory Birds for Pakistani Drones

Good to know that IAF is always on high alert in that region and can shoot down any incoming PAF jet before it reaches Indian airspace.

Maybe India should shoot down all the Mosquitoes flying in the air and that will do good for the average Indian's health since Malaria is spread by Mosquitoes.

We have nothing to be proud of, we Couldn't even shoot down american drone which violates our airspace :tsk:
I think Gambit has explained very well

These Birds passed over Pakistan and as usual their radars were switched off....Load shedding :D

Don't be confused by radars which made false alarm more than true.

False alarm triggered by birds are normal, especially by those migratory birds, they come and go seasonally. I don't think the birds bouncing back is happened first time on India's jets screen and the previous experience was followed by newbies.

This is 100% conventional human beings mistake, not the machines.

For the case of mistaken planets as drones, if the mistake had not been recorded and 'SOP' was not updated, the same mistake would happen again. That's the difference between well trained troops and those poor ones.

You are wrong here. Any moving thing returning signal (significant and above threshold) will be treated as legitimate target. SOP / training would help operator to distinguish/ identify target be it fast moving Jet or slow moving aircraft.

A big enough bird flock will definitely will be highlighted by radar and there is no way operator an operator will know the difference.

Clearly, Pakistani a** is burning knowing that Indian RADARS can detect objects while theirs cannot moreover they're scared of our incredibly quick 'response time'.....

tujhko mirchi lagi to mai kya karu......:chilli:.....Indian song, dedicating to Pakistanis.....

India had scrambled scores of fighter jets to tackle migratory birds for weeks mistaking them for enemy drones in a sensitive border region.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed fighter aircraft after radars flagged unsolicited intrusion into Indian territories along the border region in the western state of Gujarat.

As soon as the jets started flying, the "enemies" disappeared from the radar, but resurfaced once the jets had gone. These perplexed Indian officials for weeks before they could discover that the "intruders" were actually flocks of migratory birds.

According to an IAF report, cited by The Indian Express, between December 2012 and February 2013, radars had detected the potential targets as "slow-moving tracks of variable heights of 4 to 6 km and variable speed from 100 to 250kmph".

The birds were swift enough to vanish from the radar using strong tail winds in the region.

As their flying speeds coincide with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), the Indian forces began a tactical response by scrambling the fighter jets and deploying other aircraft.

Shortly after the "intrusion", officials asked local bird sanctuaries about the migration in Gujarat and experts confirmed that the intruders were only birds.

IAF officials have also begun following other birds' migratory patterns in the region to take appropriate steps.

Gujarat shelters one of India's most important air bases as it is located near the sensitive border with Pakistan.

Bwahahahaha

These Indians r soo insecure and r laughing stocks of the whole world.

Well IAF at least deployed Combat Jets to counter what they thought were drones. Others in the region invite drones to bomb and kill their citizens.

Nice to see quick response of IAF..

Stay alert, you are Armed forces not Local Police..
