What's new

India could be part of elite anti-missile grouping next week

Also certain technologies for unmanned systems can be traded. Rustom 2 was delayed because of a supplier couldn't sell certain parts because of gov interference. *A homemade alternative was made.

.
come on.

India is going to join MTCR and this would let India to sell Missile systems to friendly countries.

Akash, a surface-to-air missile, has a range of 25 km. Prahar is a 150 km-range tactical missile system. Several countries have shown interest in the Akash missile system, which was ready to be inducted into the Army.

Already Vietnam, Indonesia and Venezuela have expressed willingness to buy Indian Missile Systems.

If India is nor selling these weapons because it's not part of a group, no matter what the group is, then India is stupid. But I'm certain that other countries are not buying India weapons for other reason. Chief among them is that India is not making enough for its own use.

Congratulations, you won the "who took the troll bait" of the day award.

No offense, but you seriously thought this well articulated post would do anything to make @Luca1 take back his nonsense words? I mean, seriously, you actually started off the post with "come on", to him :o:?? I hold you in high regard, you are an elite member, you have been here long enough to know what works FOR a troll, and you still took his bait.:woot:

Again, no offense, but pretty stupid.

It's because India has nothing worthy to share.
Comparing India with US.... is like comparing Windows XP with Windows 10.....

By the way the article does not mentions anything like India will be sharing anything with US... Please stop trolling!

India is the largest weapons importer not exporter... If this deal helps India to get technology and know how... It achieved its objective! One step at a time!

Indian International Policy is quite simply since starting which is to work under International laws.

After joining MTCR , India will get many exports orders from all the friendly countries.

Other countries do buy equipment from India.

Arms exports to get a boost as Ministry of Defence okays 16 broad categories of products - The Economic Times
18 Aug, 2015
16 broad categories of products that can be exported after clearance - is expected to boost military trade with experts saying that it brings clarity to private companies pursuing export orders.

Among the items listed in the Indian military stores list are warships, tanks, armoured vehicles, ammunition, rifles and small arms, military training equipment, electronic warfare devices, software, bombs and torpedoes.

ndia is hopeful of joining two international regimes this year — the Wassenaar arrangement and the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) — after which exports will get a boost, DRDO has already drawn up a list of products that it wishes to sell abroad.

This includes the Akash surface to air missile system, Sonar systems, underwater communication systems, the Tejas fighter aircraft, Airborne Early Warning and Control systems, the Nishant UAV and a series of radars, among other things ..

India can sell these even without MTCR

There was a time in 1990s when India aspired to become a member of MTCR, as not being an member was preventing it from procuring key technologies from Russia (There was a reason Brahmos was restricted to 300 km.) while China continued to supply Pakistan with missiles as US turned deaf ears to India's complains.

Now India has passed that phase and is in a position to export it's own tech to other countries. Getting into MTCR now will restrict its ability to export such weapons/Tech. Hence, MTCR members are keen to rope in India now.

On the other hand, India getting into MTCR would surely test the loyalities of other MTCR members who have historically denied technologies to India with an excuse of MTCR restrictions..

Interesting times ahead...

As i said, Indian Government do have a policy to work according to International laws and India has showed what really patience means.

Situation was quite different in the 90's due to the Hidden cold war.

Brahmos is joint venture an authorised capital of $250 million with 50.5% from Indian side and 49.5% from Russian side. DRDO had developed crucial systems like inertial navigation systems, mission software, mobile launchers for Prithvi and Agni missiles where as modifications are being done by HAL on the Su-30MKI aircraft for firing of the air-launched version of the missile and significant progress has been made in developing its launcher and other related systems.

as if most of the member has..:rofl:

India,if join, will be one of the member which in fact has functional missile program, has ICBM capability, has SLBM capability, has supersonic missiles and are forefront of hypersonic cruise missile research.so please...

Most of the members doesn't even have a military base for starting with. But joining these clubs will enable us to get access to more capable UCAVs,thats for sure.

Then what's great in signing this MTCR? after being signatory US sold long-range cruise missiles to its allies and they even sold there nuke missiles to UK, but its United states of America & we are not USA.I know MTCR is not legally prohibiting any of its member to sell there missiles, but have to face a strong diplomatic pressure from other members. Uncle sam can very well dodge such pressure but we can't. So its better not to being a MTCR signatory and violate its objectives. we can work outside MTCR umbrella.

First,we're not selling our Long Range Ballistic Missiles to anyone, are we??
and second,it'll give us access to UCAVs like Reaper, which will be great.

Technically, it's illegal for India to possess long range missiles and nukes. By making an exception for India, we are encouraging more nations to build nukes.

India will not join as a nuclear powered country.
