India, China should team up for 21st century

. . .
Fear not, faithfulguy is here...

I love watching him act as a moderator between the Indians and the Chinese. Actually, he is more of an agent provocateur, but it's fun to watch regardless. :)

lolz he told me that if I rule India..India will turn in to Somalia  .. Well i am not gonna take a chance with Indias future

although i had decided not to post anything until someday, but i just can't help doing so after reading this thread. some of you (gogbot and XiNix for instance) suggested that the anti-chinese and anti-pakistani acts(or post) have been exaggerated and have been imporperly generalize to all indians. but have you noticed 2 facts that going against your statement. 1) the numbe: just look at or compare the nunber of IDs involved between this thread and the "Chinese aggression is good for India's Defence". 2) the current location: most of the "open minded"(says XiNix) are living outside india, so how "indian" are you. living aboard will change you solwly and unconsciously: you need to be befriended with everyone coz you are more than yourself -- you are a representive of india.

to be honest, i was thinking that the 2 friendly acient power could team up again, however, the painful fact is: that is not going to happen, at least not in the forseeable future, not in such hostile atmosphere. like it or not, increasing nunber of banded members will or have left their fruitful legacy before the got banded.

faithful guy, plz get over this wrong impression that indians think and speak what appears in the media.

impressions, right or wrong, are given by someone else. if such news sells best, the media will keep posting them, and the "wrong impression" will never be got over.

I completely disagree with you, the criteria you have chosen is how many people think express their positively or negatively in the forum will decide what is going to happen in future.

I can buy this that majority of Indian's might not like Chinese and vice verse, but my friend policies are not decided by sentiments. The leadership of both China and India understands this and I can see them corp-orating. It was AV Vajpayee that started the policy of having friendly relationship with China which is getting better by the day.

What people do is look into statements and create a point of view, what one should look is what is happening on the ground.

Simply put economics drives relationship between countries more then anything else, and unlike humans countries have contradiction in relationships.

Well, people keep saying India is aggressive.

Its always related to negative qualities.

What exactly has India done but secure its own national interests.

In the last 20 years what actions has India taken to be perceived do hostile by China ?

This is exactly what India has done: An Indian former Defence Minister declared that China is India’s potential enemy number 1. China potential threat number one: George - Express India When your Prime Minister said your nuclear weapons are not "Pakistan-centric", he meant that they are aimed at China as well. The Hindu : Vajpayee's lost chance to make history And your IAF chief says China is a greater Military threat to India than Pakistan IAF Chief says China a greater threat than Pakistan - Express India …

Don’t you see or hear that belligerent war rhetoric from India officials?

Have you heard any offcials or former officials in China make such claim?

In addition, China resolves land dispute with all its neighbors except India, India resolves none of its land dispute with any of its neighbors.

Who’s more aggressive? The one solves the disputes or the one refuses to?

Why would any Indian member on this forum be anything but aggressive given how all of you are against them.

….

This is because some aggressive Indians get used to aggressiveness and they do not know it whilst they behave aggressively. Just like British colonists.

I see some sane Indians in this forum such as f-47, Paritosh, if I type the names right.

But I see more brainwashed friends from India as well. I remember one fool would fire all his alleged Chinese employees due to mere internet arguments. If this is not a sign of aggressiveness, what is that?

One Indian on this forum said, India today sits in a ring of fire. Why? Because India sets the fire ring around it.

Hmmm...Gpit you are back with the same rhetoric... So your logic is to resolve the dispute...Even if you resolve by armed conflicts you are still humble...The one who do not resolve the conflicts is aggressive...

@Gogbot
My advise try not to indulge in this kind of debate....

As far as current topic is concerned we already have $53 billion worth of trade going on between us which is increasing many folds every year...Both the nations know that war will push them back to 19 centuary..In such a case there can only be loser and no winner.....I am sure our border dispute is not that worth...so our paths will only converge for a healthy competition...

From a Western point of Veiw ie say USA or INDEED europe

THE THOUGHT OF india & CHINA teaming up together and having one economic vision and a joint political outlook would SCARE THE HELL out of the west...

The WEST is already running scared of china,s increasing massive economic clout.

They see India has a powerful regional counterweight thats the WEST are looking to woo India with nuke tech weapons FDI in IT etc.

INDIA & CHINA combined is too much poltical clout for white races

When I opened this thread, I was really hoping to get some constructive arguments and counter arguments. In many cases that was the case. I am personally very interested in these two countries. Both are ancient, went through foreign domination, and now growing very strongly.

I am really impressed with the level convictions and energy shown by forum members; I can easily sense the mojo running real high on all sides.

I see China-India relationships as rivals and not as hostile. The war was fought almost five decades ago. Maybe some people are still fighting that war in their own ways.

The article caught my attention, because their team work has very serious implications on the global Geo-politics in the not too distant future.

China took a monumental step of walking away from the days of Mao, and its beliefs. After the demise of Indira Gandhi, India took series of steps to open its economy and fared very well. Its been thirty years since Pepsi decided to walk way from Indian market, to protects its business secrets. If these two nations go thru these major changes, I am sure they can adjust their positions a wee bit more.

I know the concern for security is paramount given the history of foreign invaders and the war of 1962. I just don’t see these two nations with million plus military and strategic weapons, going after each other. There may be border skirmishes, rhetorics, and off-course chest thumping on the Internet; that’s about it.

There is just way too much at stake for these two nations to escalate issues beyond that. As both prosper, the tension will subside because economy and trade will define relationships.

Open invitation to feel free to disagree !! Cheers !!!!
