Then you don't know about India. Hindi is one national language alongside English both of which are to be used officially. If I am Sikkimese-Bhutanese and don't mind learning Hindi (my native language is Dzongkha), I don't see why others see this as a "regional" bullying.

Abir is correct --- There is no national language as such in India. Only official languages for different states.

It is almost embarassing that we don't choose to accept a common national language apart from our mother tongues and still dwell in the regionalist mentality.

Ever heard of the tagline "Unity in Diversity" --- I am damn proud of that and this is a living proof of that.

TenjikuKensei and Karthic already answered your concern. I won't ponder over the 'regionalist mentality', but advise you/us to learn from Pakistan's example.

India is not a homogenous society, a federal govt in the same way of US of A is only feasible here. Clichéd it might be, but 'Unity in Diversity' has its value.
