INDIA’S ANNUAL POWER OUTPUT RECORDS A NEW HIGH OF 1 TRILLION UNITS
The power generation during 2014-15 has registered a growth rate of 8.4% year-on-year and is the highest in the last two decades.

For the first time in the country, in 2014-15, the annual power generation has crossed 1 trillion units and the biggest contribution was from the coal-based power stations, which recorded an annual growth of 12.1%.

The power generation during 2014-15 (1048.403 BU) has registered a growth rate of 8.4% year-on-year and is the highest in the last two decades, said an official release of the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

BHEL commissions 2,400 MW OP Jindal thermal power project

New Delhi: State-run power equipment maker BHEL today said it has fully commissioned 2,400 MW OP Jindal thermal power project in Chhattisgarh. "The unit has been commissioned at Jindal Power Limited (JPL) OP Jindal 4X600 thermal power plant located at Tamnar in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh," BHEL said in a statement.

The previous three units were commissioned by BHEL in the last three months. The scope of work in the contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of steam turbines, generators and boilers, along with associated auxiliaries and electricals, besides controls & instrumentation and Electrostatic Precipitators (ESPs).

BHEL shares were trading 1.20 per cent down at Rs 230.75 per scrip during afternoon session on the BSE.

Well, The average tariff of Indian electricity procured by Bangladesh is Taka 6 a unit, slightly lower than the weighted average of Taka 6.50 a unit in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh currently purchases 500 MW electricity through Bheramara border in West Bengal. This includes 250 MW supplied from the Central allocations at regulated domestic tariff. Dhaka procures an additional 250 MW from India through open market deals as well.

There are plans to import 600 megawatt more power from India to meet BD's demand for electricity.

Actually in India - Production is not the problem - go through the news feeds - you'll find us commissioning some or the other power project every other week - The problem lies in transmission and in that also particularly power theft. We have around 26% power loses out of which - 80 percent of power loss is theft!

Now just imaging how horrible it is for almost a fourth of these one trillion units generated in 2014-15 going "unaccounted" - No one pays a penny for them - its ultimately the public exchequer which has deal with it.

We are actually getting Indian electricity in half the price we have to pay the quick rental power stations. We need Indian electricity till 2018-20. Many large power stations are on the way in BD
