India bans Chinese telecom equipment

yeah. indian products are the greatest in the world. they dominate markets everywhere due to reliability, price and awesome style.

however due to limited supplies they're very much in demand, i can't even find 1 at my local market!

nope dont react in a stupid way.................fake chinese handsets with fake imei no was posing athreat to national security...and telecom ban is in place bcos u hav an artificial currency stabilization programme.......which puts other competitors in an unfair situation.

Third grade products for third grade countries, "no free lunch in the

world", especially products made for a country with the largest

population on the planet living under the international poverty line.

How much you paid, how much you get !

Is that too hard to understand ? :smitten::pakistan::china:

lol A blind calling another person a blind!!!!

well the answer is given by greyboy.. chinese phones have no security and hard to trace..they can be used by terrorists and other anti national elements..it was banned in the grounds of national security

only some like you can post such nonsense ...

may i know why it's hard to trace? every sim card has to register itself to the mobile center before you can make any phone call. unless you can dial without a sim card, you will have no where to hide.

one more thing, what India ban is telecom equipment (routers, switchs, relays etc) not handsets.

It is a smear campaign, and also a pathetic attempt to reduce the trade deficit. However, by doing so Bharat is hampering its modernization efforts as all other options are more costly, less secure, and come with more strings attached.

.... bharat .... oh .... bharat .... what to do with you ....

shutting up would be a good start!!

routers etc are networking equipment.

Also a cell phone can be tracked with sim card but once the sim card is removed or the phone is switched off, its impossible to track the phone. That is why IMEI number is used to track the phones. And selling phones without IMEI number is illegal not only in India but all over the world.

Ban all genocide champion chinese copy junk. .great move. . No third class product from china

Does that include my Sony mobile made in China??

If telecom products are getting banned, will somebody tell me to throw away it too??:undecided::undecided:

of course they are, but they are also needed to connect the mobile stations.

to some extent, a phone number is more important than the IMEI number. you would still be connected even if you change you phone, however, if you change you phone number, how can anyone find you.

ones a phone is switch off, there is nothing you can do to track it.

Manufactures has to pay for the IMEI number they used, so if you want to buy a phone with distinctive IMEI number, go for a Huawei or ZTC one. but they definitely will be more expensive then those whitout a IMEI numbers. the question is: how many of you are willing to pay the extra cost. just like what i said before, China produce both 60$ and 6$ shoes, but not all of them are hot sold in India.

If China is producing or manufacturing things, its because they are capable of doing it.
Wonder what the people here will say if some western country bans Indian textiles or outsourcing services due to bad quality.

Come on guys , get a life.:hitwall:

50 cent army is pathetic if we imports from china they call us names and boast about them but if we ban them then they make huge noise what a Hypocrite attitude

It just a pathetic attempt by Indians to SMEAR Chinese people, and create unnatural barriers to commercial competition (just like how USA created false re-calls on Honda-Toyota-Nissan-Mazda for the benefit of GM-Chrysler-Ford).

No blanket ban on import of China-made telecom equipment

Decision will be taken on a case-by-case basis

The Central Government on Friday said there was no blanket ban on import of Chinese telecom equipment and any such decision was taken in each and individual cases.

“I don't think there is any blanket ban on import of any Chinese telecom equipment,” Union Home Secretary G. K. Pillai said when asked whether any restriction has been imposed on the import of China-made telecom equipment.

He said any such decision was taken case-by-case taking into account activities of individual company. “It depends on each and individual company. We look at the security implications...,” Mr. Pillai said. The Department of Telecom also made it clear that no blanket ban has been imposed on any company.

The DoT said the telecom network service providers, when they enter into licence agreements with the government, have to provide details of equipment to be procured in a prescribed proforma.

“The DoT, thereafter, refers the matter to the Ministry of Home Affairs for security clearance. Whichever company gets security clearance is allowed to procure the equipment,” a Telecom Ministry spokesperson said.

Special Correspondent from New Delhi writes:

Huawei's concern

Huawei, following media reports regarding ban on import of Chinese telecom equipment due to security concerns, on Friday urged the government to frame a “fair and non-discriminatory policy” to address the issue.

Denying that the company has not received any official communication on the matter, it expressed its concerns over the development. “Huawei is willing to cooperate with all the relevant Indian government agencies to help solve their concerns on the security issue in the interest and growth of the overall Indian telecom Industry, as internationally, Huawei's products and solutions adhere and comply with global telecom standards and regulations and are being used in telecom operators worldwide including 45 of the top 50 global telecom operators in over 120 countries,” it said.

Blah! Flip. Flop. Flip. Flop.

For an unfriendly. stingy market it's a waste of time.

By the way, to repay the soft loans the Japanese made for Indian's metro and roads, land was misappropriated and now they are struggling to find buyers. So GOI is now desperate to inflate the "value" of the rupee in order to repay its massive debts (and interest).
