Indian government officials approached BGB authorities through BSF to resolve the issue

India's two integrated border development projects to the tune of Rs29.47 crore, along the Tripura-Bangladesh borders, are on hold as Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has raised objections, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb told the Legislative Assembly on Friday.

Biplab disclosed the matter in response to a question raised by CPI-(M) legislator Moboshar Ali.

Biplab Kumar Deb, who also holds the Industries and Commerce portfolio told the assembly the projects were two Integrated Development Complexes (IDC) which would be set up at Manughat in North Tripura, and Muhurighat in South Tripura, to bolster India-Bangladesh trade and economic activity.

“The two IDCs were sanctioned by India’s central government on May 2016 and December 2017 respectively,” the chief minister told the House.

“I will personally take up the issue with the central ministers for expediting the matter. Besides, government officials have approached the BGB authorities through the Border Security Force (BSF) to resolve the issue,” Biplab added.
