Anyone can replace China in Australia as long as they have enough money and big enough market. I don't ever see why India could not.

Problem with Australia is, we don't care about Indian and Chinese, we only care about Money. In term of Defence, I don't see how Australia would align with India or China in this sense. Reallly..I think it is the other way round..oil pipeline deal..was snubbed by US ..$800 import allowed by each customer entering Canada from US and many more..the Canadian retail market is in dumps just because it is cheaper to buy from US..Canadian service sector is the main job provider which tanked with USA's recession..

Reject shop used to sell a lot of Made in China product, but nowadays was flooded with Made in Thailand, Made in Venezuela, or Made in Vietnam Product.

I'm not saying influence, but purchase of Australia supplies. China has a market that is only surpassed by America, and its growing leap and bounds. I'm no sure about Australia, but no CEO of any fortune 500 company, include google, can stay in their post without a solid China strategy.

China will be the most important market for many American companies in the next 5-10 years. If China has an oversize influence in Australia now, that influence will just get bigger, not smaller, with time.
