India abstains on UN resolution that condemns Russian invasion of Ukraine, explains move

QUAD is not a military alliance. It was NEVER a military alliance.
This from the last meeting

"Biden convened a virtual Quad meeting attended by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga. They formed working groups on COVID-19 vaccines, climate change, and technological innovation and supply-chain resilience."
The public proclamations of the quad bloc has been to protect a global rules based order and freedom of navigation. The other stuff you mentioned is covered in a zillion other global forums. You don't need a separate "Indo-pacific" bloc to cover it.

.
You failed to mention China and UAE also abstained. The vote was lost due to one countries veto. That of Russia.
Will the Americans be angry ?
Certainly. Its not the first, nor the last time that India will vote for what is in India's interests. No doubt there will be consequences, but there always have been consequences.

As an Indian I understand but am horrified that we did not stand up for Ukraine.
The Indian press and media are whole heartedly condemning this invasion as do nearly all Indians.

It is a cynical and shameful abstention, forced by realpolitik.

We could not have voted against Russia while acquiring 60% of our foreign defence purchases from Russia and we could not be seen to reinforce the Beijing-Moscow axis while LAC remains unresolved. Moscow being the only country with some influence in Beijing.

Remember EVEN Beijing played safe by abstaining, and not supporting Russia, by voting against the US resolution.
This is the sentiment of most Indians. India is hamstrung by realpolitik. What makes it more worse is that Russia is a junior partner for China and has every interest to support China even in a conflict with India. Russia will support China simply because the west will support India. India can only hope that Russia will not stop spares supply to India.

Europe also supports China because of trade dependence. This is also a factor in India's calculation.

You seem to think that India quakes, and has Bajwa's perspiration and knee trembling episode.

That's a Pakistani knee jerk not India's

India has voted against US resolutions before and probably will in future too.

You got bombed (with video footage taken as proof) , your jets were shootdown with wreckage now displayed in PAF museum, your pilot got b!tchslapped by Azad Kashmir villagers, with no conventional ways left for you to step on escalation ladder, you foolishly threaten for ballistic missiles attack, only to get stared down with counter threat of every one missile, you will get stuffed with three in return.

Stop living in fools paradise and Bollywood stories.

It's the Putin call after IK visit is at play here. It was your with us or against us moment. Enjoy!

You are and will remain third world rat hole.

PMIK's visit to Russia put India in a diplomatic hot seat. That alone was worth the effort.

It was IK and Pakistan on the Hot Seat when meeting Putin when an invasion was in effect. That feeling reflected even within Pakistan. Your obsession with India is making you CrazyZ

Post bookmarked.
Really? The west had research labs in India when US-India relationship was at its infancy and India was more tilted towards Russia.

This has nothing to do with US or Russia. This has everything to do with how we manage the situation. Just like how Pakistanis have been wrongly predicting since --
1) MMRCA - India will be under US pressure and buy f-18.
2) S-400 will never come
3) Sanction on India...

nothing changes.

If you are truthful to yourself you are bitter that Imran Khan's visit to Russia will bear nothing more than just pleasantries.
India is a large market and labor pool, of course they would setup labs there. (Which Boeing learned much to their detriment)

The world of 1991 is no longer the world of 2022. India was not linked to western security then, but potential exposure created by Indian firms can open up a lot of vulnerabilities to Western companies. It’s not about whether India manages it, but when Western companies see the vulnerability, as well as domestic push back to onshore these operations as much as possible (in the name of national security).

IK visit to Russia has more to do with central Asian stability and regional trade then anything else. Pakistan is not dependent in any significant way on Russia, unlike India.

Show me where QUAD leaders have described it as a "Military Alliance". This is just Pakistan watching the world from the wrong end of the telescope.

If Russia want to have at it with the American camp....so be it. Pakistan is neutral in this conflict. We helped the Americans win in cold war 1. Lets see what India can do for them in cold war 2.

Forget UAE and China, were not Indians ,including you were advising Imran Khan not to visit Russia in fact ill timing mantra was all over the place. Funny that, it turned out to be India on the receiving end.

What these Indain rats wont admit, yet they know fully well, that it was PMIK visit to Russia which put India in the corner with no place to run and hide, no cards to play.

Those who are old enough to watch IK as a captain of Pakistani cricket team, DOMINATED India, he has now clean bowled India as a PM.

You should first understand that India is different from China.
China abstains from voting, Russia will thank China, and the West will understand China, but India is not qualified to do that.

China is already Russia aligned and was not expected to vote against them.

India on the other hand was being buttered up by the US and Western nations in order to obtain an ally in the Indian Ocean region. All those sanction exemptions, favourable trade deals, and military exercises were not because Indians are special or liked, they are and always have been an overpopulated third world country who fails to tackle a near bankrupt third world country 1/6 its own size.

Take it from Pakistanis who have experienced the full breadth of US relations for decades. There will be a time where they will expect you to repay everything they have done for you, and they will not hesitate to throw you overboard if you dont comply.

The real question is, Do Chinese also consider QUAD as a non military alliance?

That's what a answer looking for a problem looks like
were just a bunch of blokes meeting for a pint at the pub to discuss climate change

Dispersal of Covid19 production , Sharing of technologies on Climate change ( the greatest threat posed to humanity ). Speeding up supply lines to contain inflation. Sharing of research facilities and scientists in all aspects of research. etc etc etc.

Its unfortunate Pakistani mind is permanently locked onto weapons , wars, military alliances, and sees nothing beyond that.
