The Chinese CNP ranking is not just about economic/military strength, otherwise it might look more like the Indian ranking in the first post.

It's a combination of everything.

"Western rankings" on the other hand, are far too optimistic regarding developing countries like China and India.

Correct. Western rankings rank only hard power. Hard power is what China has alot of. Soft power is what we lack. In fact, our soft power is nearly zero, but at least better than countries which have negative soft power (people desperately try to abandon their culture, like some certain Southeast Asian country with 1 such representative here!)

hmm, i think u r forgetting the man hours cost invloved in such a exercise. u can safely add to that cost of conducting couple of meetings with usual tea and samosa.

i would rather like those babus to concentrate on their primary jobs and stop wasting public money. even if they spend Rs 100 on these kind of rankings it is not acceptable to me.
