Thakurani Yatra of Berhampur in Ganjam district is one of the biggest festivals of Odisha. Celebrated with all pomp and gaiety once in two years, the month-long festival marks the journey of Goddess Budhi Thakurani, presiding deity of the Silk City, is taken to her temporary abode at Desibehera street.

According to the rituals, Desibehera and his wife along with several others go to the Thakurani Temple in a procession to invite the goddess at midnight on the first day.

Large number of devotees witnessed the Ghata Parikrama (soul procession) of Maa Bhudhi Thakurani . The biannual extravaganza is basically the festival of the local weaver community, known as Devangiris.

A lady devotee takes part in the procession of the deity.

After the procession moves through city streets, it returns to a temporary halt amidst chanting of prayers, blowing of conches and dancing by the crowds.

I have done it myself quite a few times...It is really fun
Actually, what the girls are doing is more dangerous because of the temperatures difference between their heads and bodies and then the hair take more time to dry.
While the men are dipping in the cold fully so all of their body will equally heat up to address this cold skin.
