Increasing tensions in the Aegean

Go read the DS/Hurriyet post about that Germany only allow export of Naval equipment to Turkey. Imagine German embargo on Naval equipment.... wave goodbye to I-class, Ada-class, TF2000 too.

Why is Turkish defence industry so dependant on the West for arms???

Any alternatives?

. .
because the last 70 yrs everything got fucked up...

nope...
dependence on Russia or the west... you can choose

Well **** that means I hope Turkey does it independantly then. The long term and sacrifice will pay off.

Even in Australia we have not built a proper defence industry due to our constant buying not to mention we closed our factories.

Look at this China is knocking on our door and we just got started. The difference is Australia wont be embargoed at all compared to Turkey which means it can get whatever it wants.

Still prefer if Australia builds its own stuff but nope our politicians believe buy and buy.

our former pro-western puppets relied on or trusted the west way too much - thinking that they would never backstab us, while people bought a loaf of bread for around 10M lira LMFAO ... North Atlantic bridge, all I have to say...

the important part here is: turkey has to hurry up...before they drag us into another war - back then, the Soviets helped us with equipment, and money came from Muslim people around the world... but nowadays, none of our allies is able to provide the essential components to the armed forces (engines, etc.) - turkey has to reach ASAP a point of independence, where TR would be able in a worst-case scenario, to produce every fckn piece of the armed forces if needed - every core tech... and I mean every single part...
not one screw should get imported then... completely self-sufficient...
other than Australia, as you mentioned, everyone would put embargos on turkey, in case of a real war - not shit like these NE-S. ops... And even for that sanctions were imposed ... just imagine what happens in a war

If you pay full price everytime, then I can understand the need for having your own arms industry. But if you pay e.g. 10% on top of production cost, then you have the freedom to buy off the shelf.

Look at how the price of some products are reduced to 60% or even more once we develop an equivalent product. But that's because of who we are. Muslim majority country, and even because we're not the good boy they want.

We need to be more independant, but like I said previously we didn't build our own FPB in 70's (TSK sent the design material to Lürssan) kicked the ball down the lane some 30 years, and we're trying to catch up.

Seriously man what the ****!!!!

Viewing this from an objective, real politik point of view, this is actually not a bad outcome for Turkey. The Navwarn essentially tested the Greek maximalistic position, and the outcome was a brief status quo ante reset with a very important asterisk thrown in. *This area is now pretty much officially disputed*.

Turkey was also very wise to choose and designate an area that is close to 180nm away from what Greece deems as a 200nm EEZ, hanging from a small island that is almost certainly bound to NOT have full delineation rights in an arbitration/negotiation phase later. Nothing regarding this was random or unprepared.

I don't think that there was anything more to be gained at this specific juncture from keeping the pressure on though. Greece was certainly not going to back away, they gave all possible diplomatic - and other - hints about this. And used their EU position to make the case known, and add pressure. Turkey certainly did not want an escalation at this specific point in time.

Unfortunately only with turkish subs.

But the gist of it is Turkeys importance for NATO, but also that Greece is expecting their western allies to keep Turkey in check with regards to issues we have with Greece.

So Greece knows they can't do much against Turkey.
