If Trump decides so, the US will have it's way in Afghanistan, they will prevail. Comparisons with the soviet times are useless unless you can think of a superpower who would be willing to get into a proxy war with the mighty US.

Yeah , I know the Russian situation but how is that relevant to US. When you read this , all I can see is US is vehemently pro-India. Heck some circles suggest that it was US that give India permission for Balakot strikes and revocation of article 370.
