IN JUST 10 DAYS, PRESIDENT TRUMP HAS SPLIT THE GOVERNMENT INTO WARRING FACTIONS

The Attorney General is a pretty much a standard political appointment. Remember JFK put his brother RFK into that position when he got elected.

But its not your ordinary Joe right? Like something similar to Minister of Law?

He/she has to be confirmed by a Senate vote. They can confirm whoever they want. Until they do we will have to deal with temporary ones. There has been no vote yet for Trump's Attorney General.

Thats not the point, what I am trying to get to, that if someone high is going in tangent then there is something seriously going wrong. Its like the law minister in Pakistan telling the PM to sod off.

Sally Yates is an Obama admin person. Of course they don't like Trump. She was only in charge because Loretta Lynch was booted out the day Trump took office.

Dissent at very high level of American power structure. Thats what it is.

Lol! Sally Yates was put through the Senate confirmation process by Obama. Soon Trump will be putting his own people through the process.

Why people are going all gaga about Sally Yates is silly. She was expected to lose her position. She should have resigned.

The day I will see Americans truly fighting each other physically I will celebrate because thats what Americans have caused from Haiti to East Timur, let alone letting loose the so called mujahideen in Afghanistan, the precursor to worldwide terrorism that is out of control now.

How disgusting. Unfortunately for you, most Americans are not going to fight each other physically. Nothing much has changed here since the election. There have been some protests and that's about it.

Also, while America may have supported the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia did too. Where is your outrage for those countries? And terrorism worldwide has little to do with the Taliban. There are various different groups across the globe that came about because a very small portion of people in those areas are attracted to them. Surely, this doesn't need explanation.

Trump has got the whole World's attention on him

Got to give him credit for that

More you reply more you are giving me impression that there is not much difference between the Pakistani democracy and the American one where the new government will completely reshuffle and bringing in their people , discarding continuity. I thought you lot were better then this.

Not all of them are immediately fired. But certainly with the changing of the President you are on notice that you could be sent packing at any moment since he has the right to put people of his choosing in their place.

Why are you nonsensically dragging Bernie Sanders into this? Your post is completely off topic. The Democratic Party's 2016 primary has nothing to do with this thread, as dumb as the title of it may be.

The democrats are pro-bureaucracy and thus their leadership's actions have very much to do with the current problems with elements within the bureaucracy revolting. The same nefarious behaviour that was used against Sanders is in action now again.

Give it a few months to know what I mean.

The bureaucracy of the US government has nothing to do with the 2016 Democratic Primary or Hillary Clinton's campaign.

As for "the bureaucracy" (it's not one group), they didn't have any problems with other Republican administrations.

By all means, defend Trump's administration. I'm sure you have some good points to make. But please, don't drag irrelevant things into the discussion. It does you no good.

Has everything to do with the democratic party cronies...who were in action during the primaries and campaign (Its my opinion, feel free to disagree).

Other republican administrations are not this one.

It's your opinion that it is irrelevant....my opinion is that it is relevant. I will let the posters of this thread decide which side of that they concur with. I hope you agree.

With all due respect, I have no idea what you mean.

Other republican administrations are not this one.

Precisely. Which is why the Democratic and Republican parties have nothing to do with bureaucracy (which is composed of many different agencies who perform many different tasks and serve the government, regardless of who is in power).

US administrations employ patronage-appointments significantly more than british-style governments (on which both Pakistan and India are modelled). In a way it puts the obvious out there for everyone to see - i.e. the President wants officials in whom he /she personally has confidence (as opposed to India/Pakistan where we pretend the bureaucracy is neutral but which is also polarised in practice). In the US except the President, everybody is effectively a bureaucrat (i.e. not directly accountable to constituents) and are expected to resign during change of presidency. In Pakistan/India the elected ministers would change but the officers would remain the same (though exceptions do take place).

I suppose both systems have their strengths and weaknesses. A weakness of the American system is that change of presidency is a huge event involving change of hundreds of senior officials and agency heads.
