While I appreciate the resilience of Iran, what you've written about Turkey is pure bad taste and is not even objective.
If you look at the HDI chart, you will find all Western countries in the first 40. The only middle countries are Qatar and Libya.
And the reason is not their scientific achievment. Its oil.
Iran has one of the largest oil resources in the world. God has blessed them with this gift.
If Turkey compares with Iran in HDI without oil, then give them the due credit.

Firstly, look at GDP as a whole is stupid. It's better to look at GDP per captia PPP wise. The difference between Turkey and Iran is minimal. However, when ones looks at the HDI. Iran has a higher standard of living than Turkey and Iran would be considered more developed.
The sole reason Turkey even exports weaponry is due to the fact it isn't under sanctions and has access to western technology while Iran doesn't. Even that so, scientifically Iran is more advanced than Turkey and will eclipse Turkey in the coming years.
You cannot fault Iran for having Oil and Gas, even with this blessing. Unlike Turkey, Iran has fought a devastating war against Iraq, had a western imposed dictator and now has been facing sanctions since they choose to oust a dictator. Iran has planted the seed of success with its hard work and will power, while Turkey opted for a short cut which entailed in selling its soul and dignity.
No reason to be mad, all I stated was Turkey in this thread earlier was made out to be much better than Iran which its clearly not
