You mentioned Pakistani muhajirs - as the decendant of one who provided the navigational planning to Dwarka, brought to a house of a Bhopali who dropped the first bomb in 65, related to the project leader for Ghaznavi - and with Muhajirs representing a good chunk of educated and generally well established Pakistanis both as $ multimillionaires and in many MNCs in Pakistan - I am curious what “terrible” conditions you are referring to?
If you are referring to the general neglect of Karachi’s outer suburbs and class divisions, let me advise you that it affects the millions of other urban migrants that also come from Pakistan’s other provinces and ethnicities. Many of whom now are second generation and inter married to the point where you cannot discern anymore who is who. If you are referring to political victimization, many of these are well entrenched in other parts of Pakistani populace including much much more miserable conditions in interior Sindh and other provinces.
However, despite all these challenges - and general demoralized view by these “Muhajirs” of Pakistan. At no point do they envy any of their Indian relatives who in general live at much less economic levels than they do and who are current are likely to die in the street like dogs due to Covid unlike here where the general philanthropist or even the establishment military complex is likely to step in and help out.
So I appreciate your concern for us “Muhajirs” but believe me when I say India isn’t our ideal alternative to Pakistan.
