Islamabad, Pakistan — As the government carries out a crackdown on Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, supporters in Punjab province say authorities are targeting the businesses of people sympathetic to the former prime minister.

Hammad Azhar, a top PTI aide, told Al Jazeera that his family-owned business, AFCO Steel Industries, was shuttered by police for more than a week.

Both our headquarters and the factory in Lahore were raided late on June 1. Police officials and a district officer arrived and sealed the premises with a handwritten note,” Azhar said on Wednesday.

He added that police harassed his staff when they closed his business, one of the oldest steel manufacturers in Pakistan, and refused to say why they were doing so.

“The authorities did not have any documentary evidence or sealing warrants, and yet they sealed our factory,” he said. “Thankfully, after we filed a petition, the Lahore High Court on June 7 gave us relief and ordered authorities to reopen our factory.”

Yes, there will be elections. And they will be free and fair.

It's evident as preparations are going on full swing. Entire top leadership of PTI has been broken away, minus the opportunist vice-president and aspiring PM Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Mid level leadership are being picked up, threatened to have their families hurt/raped if they don't condemn and leave PTI and join the newly formed patriotic party.

Next step is to disqualify IK. Once all this done and PTI is disintegrated, then there will be elections and the usual suspects along with the patriots leaving PTI will win enough seats to cobble up a weak coaltion govt once again, weak enough so that the army will have the PM and his cabinet by the balls.

1 millions unarmed protestors will melt away in face of APCs and tanks. China has already put it's weight behind the Pak Army and they're the real experts of mass-control and brainwashing.

What PTI needs is an armed wing of at least 10,000 trained soldiers. It may even consider using some TTP factions. Targeted assassinations and sabotage will go a long way in curbing the Pak Army. I believe PTI will get all the weapons it wants from Overseas Pakistanis, Iran, Afghanistan and even India; but the real question is where will it find th 10,000 fighting men? Most IK supporters are cowards. They're good for rioting and arson but can't fight a war of attrition for their cause. The true ideological belief required for an armed revolution is not seen anywhere in Pakistan. A revolution doesn't require million plus loosely aligned protestors, but a few thousand hardcore supporters with unshakable belief. The CPC of China, CPL of Nepal, LTTE of Lanka, TTA of Afganistan are all examples of ideologically united, trained, armed militia fighting and overwhelmingly stronger force and attaining victory by attrition.

Not going to happen!! Pakistanis cannot rise up against the army.


IK will be betrayed from within the PTI(my guess is by SMQ).PTI will be dealt with the same way as MQM was. Very soon IK would be jailed/murdered and the real crackdown will start. All resistance will be finished and after 5-10 years it will all be forgotten. The Muhajirs used to shout that Karachi will burn if anything happened to their leader, yet he is in exile fighting court cases against his own party while MQM still funtions in Pakistan in collabration with the army. IK is a seasonal phenomenon and his time is running out.
