Takeaways:
  • We won’t allow anyone to attack Saudi Arabia
  • Impressed by Crown Prince’s anti-corruption drive
  • Priorities: Fighting poverty, investing in human resources

Q: How do you see the drastic reforms undertaken by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman under the Vision 2030? Do you feel that there is a similarity in New Pakistan vision and Vision 2030?

PM: Obviously we praised anti corruption drive in Saudi Arabia. Corruption is the main reason why countries remain poor. I keep repeating that countries don’t remain poor because of lack of resources, they become poor because of corruption.

So this anti-corruption drive in Saudi Arabia is something we feel to be doing exactly the same. I would love to do what have been done in Saudi Arabia. We are also conducting a big anti-corruption drive.

Kindly search how Saudi Arabia removed corruption and penalized not ordinary but high-profile people.
I was being facetious. KSA cannot be used as a sample for issues in Pakistan. KSA budget is about 50 times bigger and the accordingly MBS has massive resources available to go after the bad eggs. He can even bend and blackmail foreign countries in helping him. Pakistan can't. The state is nearly bankrupt and is too weak led by a coalition government that is everything to all but nothing to one. I am afraid PM IK does not have the mandate MBS has - the latter by being absolute royalty.

Use Maarkhors....

  1. @red: The budget comparison is a just a red-herring. You don't need much budget...arrest them and put them in a local jail's class-C cell for a week and they will spit out the account numbers and sign the checks. However, amendments and new laws are required to do so.
  2. @Blue: AFA the mandate is concerned, people voted for PTI to do accountability and bring the looted money back. It was in all of his pre-poll speeches so people voted for it

Just to make new Saudi king happy, I'm never seen IK giving example of Saudi Arabia. Imran Khan obviously doesn't want Saudi like system in Pakistan. He's big fan of UK and for good reason.

KSA is to Pakistan like what Israel is to USA. Every government will wax lyrical and go about how great the country is and both are peas in the pod ....

That photo is a staged one (obvious) and not from KSA. The people (onlookers) give it away aside from the sword, what the "condemned" is wearing and the "executioner".

That is correct. The cohesion in KSA is also greater due to the system in place and Arabia being a well-defined civilization and a homogenous (by large) society in comparison with Pakistan where there are a lot of distinct ethnic groups that speak their own languages and have their own political agendas. For instance, from what I have noticed, ethnic groups tend to vote for their own parties mostly etc. That's at least what you hear of complains from users on PDF on a weekly basis.

There is little sense with comparing in this regard. Although it would not hurt Pakistan to do a "MBS" in terms of corruption. It worked wonders in KSA. Some 150 billion USD were collected overnight.

KSA is to Pakistan like what Israel is to USA. Every government will wax lyrical and go about how great the country is and both are peas in the pod ....

Not sure where the obsession to put Israel and KSA together (although the only common thing they have is being located in the shame region of the world and having governments that are allied with the US - that's about it) is but KSA's importance for Pakistan (economically, religiously, geostrategically etc.) cannot be underestimated. It's much greater than KSA's need/interests in Pakistan for the time being at least. If we are completely honest.

If that was incorrect, Imran Khan would not be running off to KSA as his first foreign destination.
