From a historical point that takes a long term look the model below is accurate. The Indus Valley has always been a flux zone between two world. A unique convergence. And Pakistan is the direct successor to this histo-geographic reality.

I mean it was not like even the British Raj was sealed off from the west. I am sure you know about the continous wars on the 'frontier' and the great game between Britain and Russia with Persia as the junior player. Peshwar was the bridgehead for this and Rawalpindi the logistic and marshalling yard for this effort. Rawalpindi's importance in the Raj was as the Northern Command of the army which was largest active command of the British Empire. It's remit was the Afghan. Iranic, Central Asia regions. In 1947 Rawalpindi Command HQ become Pakistan Army HQ.

And the underlying dynamic of geography and history has continued.

I don'tthink you still understand. You must admit my thoughts on this subject have been validated. I at times was the lone voice here. The minority. But you overlook something. Never use PDF as measure of the real Pakistan. Do you really think PDF represents the real demography of Pakistan? It represents either ex-pats with internet connections or Pakistani's from the better economic segments of society which is mostly urban. Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and a few nodes in between. The cyberspace gives you a skewed view of Pakistan.

And you still are slave to the Gangatic view of the region. The Indus basin is not and has never been the preserve of one homogenous ethnic group. The Indus Basin is the fracture zone between the west and east. It's history has been defined by that. Two currents spilling into Indus for millenia. It has always been a set of two. Where the West converged with the East. You can go as far back as Mehr Garh or Gandhara, Taxila you will see the west and east creating a syncretic civilization. To be sure the tide kept shifting but the 'gateway' aspect always existed.

What you did and many like you is get entirely absorbed with the reality of the previous century which of course under the British rule saw Indus becoming locked with the east - the Ganga Plains but 1947 undid that. So in a sense we are merely seeing the re-adjustment to the status quo that prevailed in history. Imean look at the Afghan Empire. What you call 'Indic' is firmly part of a westerly based empire. And this pattern goes back to Persian, Greek, Kushan times. However if your template is the British Raj then I can see why you have a problem understanding this concept of Indus as a unique - in that it is convergence of civilizations. And has always been that. From the Gangatic POV, same but annoyingly detached and differant. From Iranic POV same but with annoying accretions that were differant. We are the Anatolia of the east. A bridge between west and east and I would argue even the north. CPEC is in fact the historical reconfiguration of the silk road that saw Bhuddism travel north from Taxila to China.

Baba G, I have been saying the same thing for as far back as I can remember.

My exact words "Pakistan is the rump state cobbled together by the cleavage plane between two ancient civilizations"

Maybe I was speaking Gujarati and you the Queen's English?

And following on from Soul saab's point, the ONLY time Pakistan in its current form ever existed closely along similar lines before 1947 was NOT IVC.

It was the Lodi dynasty.

Cheers, Doc

i have never support any political group but it seem is bar hum ne kisi chutiya ko PM bana diya hai. BC he has some brain ?40000 ton wheat seriously ? apny iman se batana kitny pakistani ghareeboon ha haq mara gya hai ?
How about this, nothing comes for free specially for the nation that is hostile towards Pakistan, annex Badakhshan into Pakistan and settle them there, our ancestors have fought for Pakistan and sacrificed their lives, what these afghans have done for Pakistan so they can be accepted as citizens let them fight to annex a part of A-stan for Pakistan and then reward them the equal status as of Pakistani citizens. I think its fair enough, reward comes from sacrifices.

lots of people in pakistan think they are aryans-----------------superior then others

for me good move ny imran khan.. give every one his/hers right n choice...
things will start getting better--- for gods sake show some love , care , goodwill ,

Problem is with the mindset, people are too selfish and shallow in general. Expecting them to understand the rights of a person who is born in a land and how they are legalized in civilized states is something alien to their uncivilized mindset.
All they care is about themselves, and how and what affects them. What doesn't sound too well for their own stupid skin, it has to be a bad move and it should be some taliban agenda.

I just feel sorry for these weakminded and low thinking souls like seriously...

They must pass terrorist test. Each one must be sent to deradicalization camps to correct their ideology.

This for Afghans. Bengalis whatever they have done nothing wrong.

In Pakistan's case it cannot be just okay. We did this okay without any planning, for more than three decades and it only created problems for Pakistan.

Then you have a chance to plan it now.

I just hope you didn't meant to say Afghanistan as civilisation.

Then you have a chance to plan it now.

It needs resources, rehabilitation of foreign people when our own are suffering in interior Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab and FATA?

We wasted 40 years, migration to Madina didn't just happen in one single night, it was planned, discussed. And who in their right minds lets the refugees spread all over the country, including the Capital. I can find you Afghan refugees in a small city like Chakwal.

Who said anything about separating children from parents?

Operationally, in the field, that is exactly what is implied when you talk of naturalizing based on birth.

As many of you here are arguing for.

So what do you do with the parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties, elder brothers and sisters, etc.?

If memory serves me right, for a period after the end of the civil war, Sri Lanka did something similar for Tamil orphans. Ideological readjustment ....

Cheers, Doc

I just hope you didn't meant to say Afghanistan as civilisation.

Afghanistan, to be fair, is more of a civilization than Pakistan is.

But to clarify, no. I meant the Persian and Hindu civilizations.

Cheers, Doc
