ISLAMABAD - Upset by the rising popularity of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and to frustrate any possible move by the undemocratic forces to take advantage of the fragile political situation in the country at the moment, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are coming closer together after weeks of tension that gained momentum after the latter launched a ‘Go Zardari Go’ movement, sources told Pakistan Today on Monday. Both parties are trying to reach a truce as the PML-N central leadership has reportedly assured the PPP that it would not sabotage the upcoming Senate elections.

A source in the PML-N told Pakistan Today that some interlocutors were working to bring both parties to a ceasefire and the PML-N’s decision to postpone its Gujranwala rally scheduled for November 25 was the outcome of such efforts. “The initiative was taken by a PML-N senator who held secret meetings with the PPP leaders to find middle ways for peaceful coexistence,” said a source in the PML-N. He said the PPP leadership had conveyed to the PML-N top brass that the latter’s aggressive anti-Zardari movement would serve no purpose for either party and there were no chances of any constitutional change as a result of the move before next year’s scheduled Senate elections. “The PPP leadership told the PML-N leaders that the government could announce short-term polls after March 2012 and the exhibition of street power by the PML-N to sabotage the upcoming Senate polls might cause the derailment of democratic order in the country,” he added. Another leader of the PPP said the growing popularity of Imran Khan’s PTI also brought the PML-N closer to the PPP. He said the PML-N had assured the PPP that its leaders would continue making anti-government speeches and statements but they would not cross the line that could put the existing democratic system in jeopardy. He said the PML-N’s swift act of filing a writ petition in the Supreme Court on the memogate issue was also meant to give time to the government. PML-N Information Secretary Senator Mushahidullah told Pakistan Today no secret negotiations for a truce were underway between the PPP and the PML-N. “We have stopped our movement because of Muharram… the PML-N opted to take the memogate case to the apex court as its repercussions on the government would be very detrimental if the charges are proved against President Zardari and former Pakistan ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani,” he said, adding the PML-N was least concerned about Imran Khan and his “rhetoric”.

PML-N = PPP. Nawaz and Zardari are two sides of the same coin.

This is “lifafa journalism” at best...!! To woo PMLN hawks to press more towards internal decision making…!!

Sure PMLN walking on a very thin line at the moment…and that shows their maturity to the core. On one hand they are taunted with “Friendly Opposition” badge from various quarters and from the other they are blamed to backstabbing the democracy by opting for street politics and inviting boots.

But one thing is rock solid that NS will simply not allow Establishment this time to let them take advantage of current situation created by bad governance of the PPP alliance government, Any change if arises should be constitutional and under the law and should not be on the advice or instigation of “someone else” with hidden agendas. SMQ, Pir pagaras & others are sent towards PMLN and offered a lot on this path but refused by NS bcz he knows any government on the these artificial legs and strings attached is simply useless, And only for above reasons I’m 110% with PMLN.

In this backdrop, our establishment is currently too much frustrated…they want to dislodge this government immediately but can’t do it without NS/PMLN mischievous and conspirational support and that simply not offing by NS/PMLN to them at the moment.

I hate Zardari but more than that I hates………!!!

Imran should get a clear majority , only then will he have a considerable say and hold without any influence from others ... wish him all the best !

Most in India would love to see him come to power compared to the Geelanis and Zardaris

Imran will not get a clear majority.

I don't see why. PTI is a threat to PML(N) but not to the PPP.

Easy. PPP's popularity is going down day by day. PTI's popularity is moving up day by day.

So PPP joins hands with PML-N.

PML-N follows exact policy of PPP. Nawaz is even a bigger coward than Zardari.

Why is it that some Imran Khan supporters here don't try to see his negative side. Leave his cricket popularity out of politics. Both are not same. I am sure he will try to do something better if he comes to power, well at least better than Ganja party and Zardar party. One thing i will say here is that, for gods sake, try to realize that this man is only a human not some kind of super power/magician. You will not expect him to make Pakistan perfect in every way. Yes, you are one example here Omar 1984.You think this way and you have seen many of my posts in regard to this.

Imran Khan is the only one who is fit for the job to lead TODAY's Pakistan in TODAY's Gobal Scenario.

Nawaz and Zardari are both thieves, cowards, and ghulam of Uncle Sam.

Is this truly the man you believe in? Look at this:

Imran Khan betrays Kashmiri Matryrs, Vows To Set Aside Kashmir For “Trade”

While one listened to Imran Khan’s views on Kashmir, expressed in an interview with Karan Thapar of the CNN-IBN’s Indian channel on Sunday, one was, for a moment, apt to ask oneself: “Do my ears deceive me?” But then soon one realised that it was, doubtless, the PTI Chairman who was declaring in explicit terms that he would go along with President Zardari’s point of view on the Kashmir dispute with India and leave it to the next generation to settle. Right now, the two neighbours, he thought, needed to develop trade relations and put in place confidence building measures to raise the so called “level of mutual trust”.

However, in the same breath, he called Kashmir the core issue between the two countries and believed that any terrorist incident happening in India, whether through a militant group in the disputed state or elsewhere, would undo the positive effects of the CBMs and the commercial ties. Strange, rather confused logic, for putting on the backburner a dispute which should be the first issue to be put out of the way for real and lasting trust to take root.

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has slogged for a good 15 years to reach the landmark of public recognition, and all this while he has been known for maintaining consistent, principled positions on fundamental issues the country was confronted with. He is an untried figure in politics, but has demonstrated an uncompromising opposition to the loot and plunder and bad governance the current political setup was widely accused of. Though the rumblings of his arrival on the scene has been heard for quite a while, the mammoth crowd that assembled in the grounds around Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore, at the end of the last month put the seal of his coming of age as a politician who could carry a sizeable section of the electorate with him – a worrisome prospect for already established parties. However, it seems that the urge to get into power has taken hold of him and, in his impatience, he is out to garner as many votes as possible, even at the cost of principles to which he has for so long adhered. By advocating promotion of trade with the Bastard State of India to the neglect of Kashmir, he intends to win the hearts of MFN traitor lobby. With PTI casting its lot in favour of MFN to India, all mainstream secular terrorist parties, except Jamaat-i-Islami and some other religious parties, have joined hands on this issue.

The Azad Kashmir Prime Minister (PPP) has made the comment that the MFN is worrying only the media and Punjab. With one miscalculation, Imran Khan may have down in public estimation. There is yet time for him to think. The nation has become sick to the core, of having remote controlled leaders who are ready to make compromises for the sake of power; it can stand no more of them. Even if he succeeds in coming into power on the score of the politics of compromises, history would not forgive him for losing the chance to lead not only the country, but the entire Muslim Ummah to a successful path.

^ To be honest, with all thats going on in Pakistan. We should pay more attention to Pakistan than India Occupied Kashmir at the moment.

The average Pakistani will not give his/her vote based on Kashmir policy anymore. No offense to Kashmiris, but even I'm losing interest in Kashmir issue when theres so much happening in the country, and I used to bring up Kashmir dispute every other day in this forum 2 years ago. It doesn't mean Imran Khan will accept LoC as International Border or give into India's demands, it just means we have to work on more important issues for Pakistan than Kashmiri Freedom Struggle.

@ Omar 1984,
In fact, there are lots of good things going on in the country.

Pros:

-Now that there is peace with Taliban, we have no more bombings.
-Zulfiqar Mirza is after Altaf Hussain. :)
-Zardari and PPP is in trouble because of political rise and awearness among people. They are getting pumped up. With all this being said, we will expect new elections soon.
-Pakistan Cricket is coming back
-Russia and China are getting closer to us.

Cons:

-The recent U.S/NATO killing of PA soldiers. (But that will not last long because Americans will be moving out of the region very soon anyways. They don't have the money to run this war on terror). We only need patience and this is all we have to do.

So with these things in mind, Why forget about Kashmir issue?... The thing is, this is exactly what Indians want from us so that they could hope to weaken Pakistan even further. Imran Khan is being a dumb a$$. Next thing you know, after next generation which IK is proclaiming it to be the right time,.... Indians will make Kashmir on their side into a strong position. In the next few years, we will be having the opportunity to solve this issue. Mark my words, we will become a strong nation once again.

At the end of the day, you're an idiot. You can't see how important this is than anything right now. Do you, even know how many Kashmiris in India are getting kiiled everyday? You don't realize this. This is one way where we can make a human rights fuss. Comparing how many get kiiled on our administered side to how many on Indian side is like comparing Africa to Europe. Are you aware of the fact that we may run out of water because India is building dams there? This is illegal and action must be taken. We must act on this situation now!

PML N should be cornered ... even if they are not corrupt ... but because they are cowards and matlabi and incompetents.

Everyone knows .........
in 1999 after Kargil,,,, Nawaz had sent Shehbaz to USA ... to beg them ... to save shareef govt from Pak army..

Now the same Nawaza going to SC in memogate ... but with which moon (face) ...???

PPP will not become so unpopular that they will lose to the PTI. PTI is a major threat to PML(N) but I still think that PPP will remain the most popular party in the country. I think that the PTI would serve the PPP quite well by taking a large number of PML(N) votes, which will strengthen PPP. And of course I'm not a psychic, I'm just making a prediction, just because it doesn't agree perfectly with yours doesn't mean you have to ask stupid questions.

NYwaza Kargil k baad jab officially USA gaya tha tau apni family ko bhi saath le k gaya tha ... bcoz he is coward of very cheap category... os ko dar tha pata nahi wapis Pakistan jana ho ga ya nahi.
