All the licenses were issued when there was a complete ban on arms' licenses.

There has never been a complete ban on arms licenses. It is decided on case by case basis. Even durring PMLN tenure when they banned new licenses it was later revealed that they issued hundreds during the same period. Same was done by PPP and even during Musharraf era. Respective govts always make such tall claims but have repeatedly given exceptions to influentials.

Imran said the PTI people had weapons on them too and he was afraid that the country will now face riots

Despite making continuous claims of holding a peaceful march towards the federal capital, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan admitted that the protesters coming with him during the "Azadi March" were carrying weapons with them.

Speaking at an interview with a private TV channel about the PTI's "Azadi March" and the clashes between the party members and the police, the former premier said that he felt that the country would have gone towards anarchy.

"There was already hatred among the people due to raids carried out by the Punjab Police a day prior to the march," said Khan, adding that "he was 100% sure that the situation would lead to chaos."

"Our people had weapons on them too. I was afraid that the country will now face riots," Khan told the journalist.

He said that this would have led to hatred against the police, the institutions and a division in the country among the people and this situation would have only benefited the "thieves" in power.

Talking about the raids on the houses of several PTI leaders, he said that the government blamed the PTI for the martyred constable's death. "Anyone would have thought that a thief has entered a house at 2am," he said. "We have never engaged in politics of provocation."

Meanwhile, Imran Khan on Monday requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan to appoint monitoring judges in the cases involving Sharifs. Addressing a lawyers’ convention in Peshawar, he said the PTI was waiting for the Supreme Court ruling regarding the long march and also sought protection from the SC.

Imran Khan said all previous governments in Pakistan were removed because of corruption with the exception of the PTI-led one, Geo News reported. "Since our government was not removed due to corruption, people took to the streets instead of distributing sweets."

He said that the current political milieu of the country was posing a real challenge for the judiciary as well as the lawyers in the country. "I, therefore, want the lawyer's community to support me as they and the judiciary as a whole play an important role in saving the country," he said.

During the speech, Imran Khan once again criticised the incumbent government and blamed it for conspiring with the United States to oust him. The PTI chairman then went on to explain how US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu threatened the Pakistani ambassador to the US and detailed how, according to him, the PTI-led government was removed from power by the then opposition.

"They [the then opposition] comprised bootlickers, that's why the US wanted to bring them back to power." Praising his government's performance, the ex-PM claimed that Pakistan performed better in the last two years in the economic sector as compared to the past.

Body formed to identify forged arms licences in Punjab
Official says committee will review records and data

LAHORE:
The Punjab Interior Department has established a fact-finding committee to identify hundreds of forged arms licences issued from Lahore district.

The committee, with the help of National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) record, Pakistan Post and weapons branch of the deputy commissioner office (DCOs), has launched investigations.

According to initial investigations, different DCOs issued more licences than the quota set by the government. It was also revealed that there was a possibility of issuing a large number of licences which were converted into computerised cards through false verification.

Earlier this month, a five-member fact-finding committee was formed on the order of Punjab Additional Chief Secretary Captain (retd) Fazeel Asghar.

Arms licences issued to fourth schedulers cancelled in Punjab

The Punjab Interior Department's judicial deputy secretary was made convener while section officer judicial (one), section officer judicial (two), as well as one representative each from Nadra and the Pakistan Post were among the members.

The committee will check the arms licences records of the Lahore deputy commissioner, the Post Office, weapons dealers and other related department and officials.

A special task will also be assigned to the committee to specifically review pending licences received for approval by the office of the deputy commissioner.

The committee will confirm which licences were found to be dubious and would also recommending actions against the responsible people. In a final report, the committee would also give suggestions to prevent forged licences in future.

Interior ministry lifts ban on issuing arms licenses

In Punjab, more than 2.4 million weapon licences have been issued while Nadra has computerised around one million licences thus far. In Lahore, the number of issued arms licences is about 0.7 million.

According to sources, the government had set a monthly quota for the number of licences in each district. At first, the quota of 40 licences per month was set for Lahore, which later was changed to 125 licences per month. However, during that time, hundreds of licences were issued every month.

Therefore, the committee was formed to look into these serious irregularities as it discovered that fake biometric confirmation was attempted to create computerised licences, they added.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Punjab Interior Department Additional Secretary (Judicial) Adnan Arshad Aulakh said that on the directives of the provincial government, the department has started taking stern action against the keepers and makers of forged licences. He added that the fact-finding committee has been formed to review records and data.

Pakistani Journalists and Judiciary were way out of line when they compared Pakistani Politicians with Sicilian Mafia. They should read real books instead of Novels to learn that there is a difference b/w White Collar Crimes and Organized Mafia Crime...

Don Philip Tattaglia was the head & founder of the Tattaglia crime family. He was very looked down upon & regarded only as a "pimp" & a "puppet" for Emilio Barzini. Don Philip Tattaglia with his son Bruno Tattaglia at Palermo Airport Sicily !

It’s an established fact that not only Judges but Journalists too are kept on Sicilian Mafia Payroll, even PhD didn’t deter them...
