Important to build an environment of trust, Modi says in letter to PM Imran

Imran should use his time for something productive, people did not elect him to get involved in this useless correspondence, should learn from the past.
They do elect him for conflict resolution though .
Anhways people like you very rightly say that what has not happened in 70 years thqt could happen now..?
But what else can we do, fight forever . They have contained it to their tiny part kashmir but in Pakistan their proxy terrorism is spread and hindering our growth and everything . Atleast taking about terrorism and making them stop or even slow proxy terrorism would be great thing .

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar have replied to letters by their Pakistani counterparts, said a source in the Foreign Office on Thursday, adding that the officials have "responded positively" to Pakistan's offer for talks.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a letterwritten to felicitate Modi on assuming office for a second term, had renewed Pakistan's offer to hold dialogue with India to resolve contentious issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and terrorism, to restore peace in the region, and address the problems confronting the people of the two countries.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had also written a letter to the newly appointed Jaishankar and congratulated him on assuming office.

According to the Foreign Office source on Thursday, the letters were received by Pakistan through diplomatic channels on Tuesday.

In their response, Modi and Jaishankar wrote about comprehensive and fresh talks between India and Pakistan. They said that India desires normal and cooperative relations with all neighbours, including Pakistan, adding that it has always preferred progress and peace of the people.

According to a statement by the Indian External Affairs Ministry, Modi said "it is important to build an environment of trust, free of terror, violence and hostility". Minister Jaishankar also emphasised the need for an "atmosphere free from the shadow of terror and violence".

The sentiments from Pakistan "were also appreciated in the letters", said the Foreign Office source.

'Courtesy' handshake
The letters come on the heels of the first face-to-face interaction between the prime ministers last week, which Qureshi described as a "courtesy" meeting. The foreign minister said Imran and Modi shook hands and exchanged pleasantries during their interaction on the sidelines of the 19th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek.

Soon after coming to power last year, Prime Minister Imran had expressed the hope that sour relations between the nuclear neighbours would become normal.

However, a war-like situation emerged between Pakistan and India in February after a suicide bombing in India-occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama district killed more than 40 Indian security forces personnel. India immediately hurled allegations of Pakistan’s involvement, whereas Islamabad strongly rejected the claim and asked for “actionable evidence”.

The situation aggravated on Feb 25 when Indian fighter jets conducted an airstrike on Balakot in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in retaliation of the Pulwama attack. The next day, two Indian Air Force MiG 21 aircraft were shot down by the Pakistan Air Force in Kashmir and an Indian pilot named Abhinandan Varthaman was captured. However, as a goodwill gesture announced by PM Imran, the pilot was later handed over to Indian authorities.

The premier on a number of occasions had expressed the view that Indian leaders were using anti-Pakistan sentiments to gain people’s support in the polls.

Following Modi's election win in May, the premier telephoned his newly elected Indian counterpart to congratulate him.

Last month, Foreign Minister Qureshi had a chance meeting with the then Indian external affairs minister, Sushma Swaraj, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

It was the first face-to-face meeting between the two ministers and the highest-level interaction since the post-Pulwama standoff.

Although Pakistan had closed its airspace for flights to and from India on Feb 26 after the Balakot standoff, Islamabad reportedly made a rare exception for Swaraj to fly directly through Pakistani airspace to attend the SCO meeting.

The layer of thugs, operating just below Modi(comprising of Bureaucrats, businessmen and Media guys) are RSS trained. Even if Modi wants peace, they will not let him do that.
So Imran better concentrate on people like Amit Shah and Subramanyam Swami.

.
What an arrogant arse Modi is.... he upsets the peace in 26 Feb 2019, which resulted in the shoot down of 3 IAF aircraft on 27 Feb 2019 and now has the nerve to tell Pakistan, that it has to make the moves for peace !!!!!!!!

Thrust, dialogue, peace... ok but what about our Kashmiris sisters and brothers ? Because this us the main point of the conflict..

If there is no dialogue, the conflict won’t be resolved without war and of course with its outcomes war

If there is a dialogue, chances are that Kashmiris’ struggle for there right will end like the one of the Palestinians. I mean no hope, only endless dialogue for decades and ending in the trash of the history.

There could be a true resolution if both parties are sincere. But are they ?

What i propose - note that my knowledge is limited and sometimes i say silly things - is ok let’s engage a dialogue, let’s create a thrust between our countries and then send a Kashmiri brother or sister during high meetings in UNO and let’s them talk as a Pakistani and as Kashmiri. Let’s them expose to the world what people of Kashmiri wants. There only 3 options:

- they want to be attached to Pakistan
- they want to be attached to India
- they want to be independent state.

Maybe people of Kashmir are the key of the peace in South Asia.

I could be wrong.

Why do you think that Pakistan has not tried that option as of now??

Guys..many people may not like it...But India and Pakistan need to disengage with each other for quite some time..We have seen talk between nationa since last 25 year since i started following news...Nothing happened...Honestly....our animosity is not in such a war like situation that we are in crisis mode and we need to talk...
After the advent on mobile internet and flow of information about reality of situation in JK..most of the people in India is loosing the sympathy factor in Kashmir...If Kashmir valley is hell bent of getting separated...then India will do it part to crush it without any iota of sympathy for life of anti Indian people..And without Pakistan getting Kashmir, Pakistan will not agree...So what is the point of talking here..

Rather Let modi and ik should focus on our ecomic issues that need more attention that Indo Pak silly talks..

If your argument is partially right...Rest of the India also witnessed terrorist being supported by Kashmir based anti national groups...So it is not like we are not impacted by terrorism in other parts of India too../But terrorist are not successful due to less support from regular pubic than in Kashmir zones

So now the situation reached to such a point that both country has to sit down and think about its own strangth in supporting anti national elements of other counry...India should think of getting benifit if it abandons Kashmir valley what is the economic and political return it will get from it? Same thing is applicable for Pakistan too??

.
As long as both sides have believers, it is not going to be solved.
So give it a generation, at least.

Ik please dont fall in his trap. Let him bag for airspace. There terms need to fulfill
No terrorism from Afghanistan n Iran side
No bak bak and total withdrawal from fatf
Water issue
And Kashmir thing
Then we can give him granty for routs

Strange, that on such an utterly useless and futile issue, of "Aman ka Tamaasha", already there are 22 posts.

.
Why do you think that India has not tried that option as of now??

Of course both have tried in the past and keep trying now too...My intent is not about getting peace between nation...But the problem is somewhere else beyond politician can acheive...Sometimes i feel that we do not talk with each other politicially ..it may be good...See the fate of Pervez Musharaf, Nawaz Shariff who made some effort to make peace...They are not getting any political capital by improving ties with India..
In the same way...if IK or any one thinks, India will loosen its sovereignty on Kashmir for peace with Pakistan, that will not bring any political capital to any political party in India...Then what are they going to talk when they meet???

.
Peace between Pakistan and India will not be possible until or unless Pakistan becomes an economic powerhouse with a strong independent foreign policy and strong political clout.

The sooner this is realised, the better.

You are spot on...

They could discuss about how funtastic was the tea !

Joke aside.

Yep both side had forces who don’t have interest in peace.

Kashmiris people should have the right to do the referendum. Of course without the indians who settled in Kashmir. Because they don’t have the right to participate in the referendum.

.
face saving by Modi India, Isolation failed and recently got reality check in the SCO ...Modi was a gawachi gaan and please do not forget Feb spanking on 56".
Do not trust terror mata, no harm in talking but dont be nice.....bagal mae churi should be countered with mayaan mae Talwaar..

Nodi is in a weak spot now, Pakistan needs to take full advantage....keep a smile and have chittar ready

.
Status Quo for 10 years with zero tolerence to violence...after 10 years, open borders for both sides of kashmir, they can trade freely, ...after 20 years, give them limited freedom with no control over foreign affairs and defense...after 30 years, open india-pak borders...one currency...free trade...include Bangladesh as well...and we have erstwhile b ritish India with our own independent values and policies...

To the children commenting here..WHOLE of politics is a tamasha and maintaining face!!

Tell me how often Trump embarrasses America through politics and how often the British home office in UK embarrasses UK?

There is no "right way" to do things...Everything is trial an error...And for now we need this peace as we need investors and the only narrative they need to hear is peace even if it is a facade!
