Imam khomeini space center

. .
The minister said that 80 percent of the space center's construction is over, adding that the center has the capacity to serve as the launching pad for satellites produced in Iran, regional countries and Muslim nations

Khayli mamnoon :D
The Iranians are very resourceful people even with unfair sanctions imposed upon them by Western powers and Israel. They've done well so far in advanced technology like space program. Iran is striving for self reliance in science and technology. Go Iran this is the way forward!

It is unlikely the GCC countries will launch their satellites from Iran. At the same time, they were instrumental in the downfall of the only regime in the Arab world (Saddam Hussein) that actually had a credible plan for a space programme, and yet, they would not actively invest in the Indonesian space programme to help a non-Iranian Muslim country to be able to launch its own satellites independently. Then, they will point to their own weakness and inability when somebody would ask them why they rely on Americans for almost every decision and action.

Do they realize that their weakness and inability is due to their own wrong decisions of the past and present?

I think only Iraq, at the moment, is a possible candidate for making use of this Iranian space centre.

Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the Islamic Republic is completing the construction of a new space center to put more indigenous satellites into orbit.

“The new space center, the physical construction of which has been completed by 80 percent, can put satellites into orbit for Iran and other regional and Islamic countries in the near future,” Vahidi said on Saturday.

He said the first indigenous Iranian satellite to be launched from the new center will be the Tolou (Rise) via Simorgh (Phoenix) carrier.

He said the new space launch center is named after the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

Iran launched its first indigenous data-processing satellite, Omid (Hope) in 2009.

Iran is one of the 24 founding members of the United Nations' Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, which was set up in 1959.
