He screwed up, his arrogance and cowardice led him to his fall. Instead of accepting that and realizing that "enlightened moderation" is no longer the tune of this nation .. rather the very opposite of it..
Lets hear . What would you say , was the best course of action ? Maybe , it was the public that messed up and not the President himself . I mean are they happy with the current democratic rule and its blessings ? Even at the moment I type this post , I can think of Musharraf's era as ten times better than the one , I am living today in .
This isn't what you implied but Oscar , enlightened moderation was a good idea it just happens that you cant change the mindset of this nation . Illiteracy and nescience combined with religious fundamentalism/extremism is a recipe for disaster and he could do nothing about it as much as he thought he can , his mistake was that he didn't realize that , the idea was somehow embedded in the psyche of the masses . What can one do about a nation which somehow tends to shudder , be reluctant and even freak out at the very mention of modernity and liberalism ?
