Some of these hijab us nd some of these bearded people think that just cause they follow a certain aspect of Islam they've right to judge others who don't do hijab or keep beard nd thus they display a disparaging behaviour toward such fellows . Trust me , I've seen many such hijabis who would think me a lower being cause of not being hijabi. I've seen such thekedars who will shout at u for not following islam but at same time , displaying a very unethical amd immoral activity es themselves .
This is the reason I don't take such people seriously

And maybe that your personal experience. Most religious people I know are not like how you described. They're humble and practice what they preach. They are living walking examples of their own message and the best people I have ever met in my life. And I say this as someone who five years ago was not even religious and didn't attend the masjid for years in between.
