What's new

If you have a Chance ....

Most of the time they are not qualified. The quota must go , how can you justify quota in job and then promotion ?
And I thought the issue was they checked the qualifucation only, i meant the degrees.
Not every B.Ed is a good teacher!
Reservation is a completely diff issue. And yes I support the idea that there should not be any kinda reservation (not even on the basis of gender).

Education investment on your children, more Tolerances and Respect of others. It would take 30 years to grow mature in time process from now, can Pakistan do that?

@Irfan Baloch absolutely correct.

I wish I could reform the education sector.

I've often seen teachers teaching their students half heartedly. Teachers 're not paid well and usually those who dont get a better paying job become teachers, this is not right.
A student is just as good as his teacher.
This is just one of the issues in the education sector.
Schooling should be more fun!!

@rockstar08
I think you should 've put a poll. :)

Its not about reforms always..

Here in kerala, schools compete to get 100% success rates and teach accordingly...... and yes mostly private schools... but the competition is also present in government school.

Do you want to object my above observation. ?

While I agree with the gist of your post, what you've written is only partially true. You become as good as you will yourself to be (keeping financial problems aside). I've seen both sides of the spectrum, been a student of many types of teachers: from brilliant teachers/professors who could inspire you to aim for the moon, to mediocre teachers who could put an insomniac to sleep.

But that aside, I want an education system that focuses on understanding, not rote learning. The student, right from an early age must be taught the value of having an analytic mind, as opposed to the 'printer with memories' or drones that walk over most campuses.

And yes, I want to get rid of this mad thirst for Engineering degrees. Why can't I pursue what I wanted to, without being branded a failure, or an idiot?

Even govt school teachers have to be in the field to canvas students to join their schools otherwise division fall will happen and they wi be transfered to far away schools..Now a days even govt school offers bus service, free uniform, school bags etc.

Milord I object!
Did you use the word teach??
They spoon feed students!!
I was upset to see my cousin learning a formula by heart and not be able to apply it at appropriate places while solving equations.
Students need to know the practical application of what they 're taught in classes, i would not call rote learning as "education".

If I jad a chance, I would have ban religious organisations involved in politics.. I would work for a truly secular society and would have taken strong actions against religious and caste based politics..

I've got a small list, sorry, couldn't narrow our problems down to just one thing. Also, before you read this please note: I'm neither a Republican nor Democrat - I hate both of their platforms equally. These are my views.

Tax reform – we are losing money due to tax loopholes and an obsession with growth. These loopholes need to be closed.

Tax Loopholes That Mainly Benefit The Rich | Bankrate.com

Social security reform – when a percentage of a population is sustained via food assistance, there exists a problem. When that same percentage of a population uses their food assistance allowance to purchase narcotics and alcohol, they are the problem.

Food Stamps Exchanged For Drugs, Weapons, Contraband - Judicial Watch

Wage reform – the rank and file worker has seen their wage growth remain stagnant. Executives have seen theirs skyrocket. This must be reversed to maintain a healthy economy.

Economist's View: U.S. Workers Still Waiting for Wage Growth

Civil Rights in the work place and university reform – University or job acceptance should not be awarded due to a race quota, they should be based on the merit of the individual applying for entry into either situation.

Education reform – less book work, more practicality and conceptual/critical thinking. Memorizing facts didn't help me at all, I found it boring. What did help me learn was a hands on approach. Also, we need to eliminate wasteful or ineffective teachers.

I really learned to love a hands on approach during my high-school human anatomy class:partay:.

Foreign policy reform – while I actually like the US foreign policy, which adapts to changing and fluid situations, I do believe we need to reform our stances on certain situations.

Military reform – Up the R&D budget, down the foreign operations budget. We don’t need to police the world.

Foreign assistance reform – I’m really tired of foreign aid programs that don’t offer benefits to the US. We need to reform these badly.

Political reform – Congress is a joke and a roadblock that is more a circus than a policy maker. We have to reform the system to make it more efficient.

Privacy protection reform - I spent my Navy career snooping around where I shouldn't have been (from an adversary's perspective), but I don't think military electronic intercepts translate well into the civilian world. If anything, our willingness to violate the privacy of citizens is going to cause problems, even if we don't actually violate their privacy. Does anyone actually think the NSA can read all the info they gather?

Maybe we can follow Europe's lead?

Protection of personal data - Justice

Our effort at data protection reform failed to make it through Congress... yet another reason to reform them.

What Should Be in the NSA Surveillance Reform Legislation?

Senate fails to advance legislation on NSA reform - The Washington Post

For all the complaining and whining coming from Congress, they failed to pass a bill they supported.

Ad reform - Revenue models based on the selling of ads no one will see is a joke. I use Adblock for just this reason. I just plain hate these types of revenue models. How can you sell advertisements if no one is actually viewing them? Can you make money off of peoples unwillingness to view your ads?

I won't say reform but I do want to set up an institution that will produce future PMs, presidents, and advisors of Pakistan. That institution will conduct pre entry tests (education, IQ, psychology, personality, fitness, courage, decision making, pressure handling) all over the Pakistan of people who have completed 16 years of their education in any field. It will select around first 200 people per batch all over Pakistan and then induct them for further training, grooming and education in policy making, leader ship, bureaucracy, foreign affairs, domestic affairs, diplomatic relations, defense, finance, IT, business planning, lobbying, religion, art, laws I mean the whole package. In their final year of training and education toppers will go to become PMs and Presidents and then lower down the order will serve as different advisors and policy makers to the PM and President. Benefit of this is right person for the right job and trickle down effect of mature leadership in different areas automatically.

Now you will say what about elections then, where is the democracy. Election will still be held but those elected will come to parliament to represent people of their areas only. They won't participate in any policy making, law making or decision making whatsoever, their job will only be to inform about problems and needs of their areas and suggest what possible solutions or actions can be taken to address those needs and problems.

Great thread rockstar.

Since education sector is okay in India and coming along nicely, that's not a problem.

IMO, what India desperately needs is police and judicial reforms(since both are related)

And when I say reforms - basically 90% of what is required is just quadrupling of numbers of both the police and the judges. There is a high pendency of cases in courts and our judge to population ratio is 1/4th of the global average.

Just increasing the number of these two - police and judges will bring about a political and social revolution in India.

The result will be better prosecution, faster justice, police availability, enforcement of contracts, etc, etc.

Heck it would lead to cleansing of criminal elements from political circles, reduce corruption massively.

It would change every segment of India's society.
