Well, in any case it will be Isa himself who will decide whether he will listen to cases against IK or not as he will be the sole authority on the matter as CJP in 2023/24. That IK tried, and failed, to take on a Judge of the Supreme Court despite weak and deliberately engineered/fabricated case against Isa tells one of the caliber of Imran Khan too. And if anyone here is in doubt of case being created against Isa because of his verdict in the Faizabad dharna case, he/she is delusional on another level altogether.

As for Judges and Judiciary being great and just, well, the story starts with spilling of state of affairs of Judiciary by Justice Siddiqui and ends in the spilling of circumstances of verdict against NS by the deceased Judge Arshad Malik! Who here has faith in the Judiciary?

This is a country where NS could not be tried successfully nor any money recovered from him, this is a country which could not successfully try Zardari or recover money from him. This is a country which cannot even try Malik Riaz or Mansha etc. This is a country which blesses the rich and powerful and makes unfair examples out of poor people. Is it then any wonder that we are ranked 100+ out of 109 countries judicial system?

There was no case to begin with, an anonymous person files a random complain to some illegal PM's cell which wasn't authorized to conduct any inquiry or order state organs to investigate a sitting Supreme Court Judge and this is where all the fighting originated. Isa was targeted not because he was or is a corrupt judge or had properties in his children's name which weren't declared in his Tax Returns but rather because of his infamous verdict against the Army's officers conduct in the Faizabad Dharna of TLP.

As for the properties, he made it abundantly clear that his children were adults who were NOT dependent on him and thus there was no liability on him to declare assets that his children purchased as adult, earning members for a foreign country.

It is not a matter of 'if'; He will become the CJ in 2023 and will be able to make all decisions related to Judiciary independently. This will also coincide with the retirement of COAS Bajwa who has been sheltering Imran Khan like none other before him (except maybe Kiyani to some extent who sheltered Zardari). The next COAS may not necessarily be as dedicated to PTI and IK as Bajwa is and his predecessor was.

Hopefully, by then a better Government would also be in place and then Faez Isa will be free to listen to the cases of corruption and manipulation of elections (which should be equated to treason) and other cases.

Doesnt the sitting govt appoint the CJP? Normally, its tradition to go with seniority. But previously seniority has been ignored so why not in this case?

The CJP elevation is automatic without any external interference, this has been the case since Ch. Iftikhar was promoted out of turn, as I recall, the rules were amended accordingly.
