If JF-17 as good as the F-16.

. .
F-16 is a product of 40+ years evolution, it has seen quite many off shore battles and has proven its worth.

With critical feedback from deployment and the American culture continuous improvement has made this aircraft into formidable fight machine.
Jf -17 designed is quite influenced by f-16, but it remains to be seen how PAC gives the punch to this machine

.
@Chinese-Dragon and other members, there is not much information available on the J13 project which was cancelled, any material to read on that project.
thanks

JF 17 was built to fill a specific role in PAF inventory. It was built strictly to requirements set by PAF. It meets and surpasses those requirements set by PAF to Chinese designers.

1. Light weight affordable fighter (so that more can be procured)

2. Should be able to carry Beyond Visual Range Air to Air attacks and precision guided weapons.

3. Economical to maintain and operate

4. Pakistan has control over weapon integration and system software so that any weapon produced or bought from third party can be integrated by Pakistan

5. No dependency on West in case of sanctions of which we have bitter experience.

6. To give experience to Pakistani engineers in aircraft development and production

JF17 was meant to compliment F16 not replace it. F16 fills a different role ie to carry out most demanding tasks in war. But it can not take certain roles for example roles specific to Pakistani or Chinese developed weapons etc.

In absolute terms, F16 is more capable aircraft especially in areas like weapon load, range and maturity of its systems. But we could not fill entire air force with F16. It would be suicidal given the history of sanctions against Pakistan. It is also economically unviable. JF 17 was developed for Pakistan air force right from the drawing board. There was no intent of catering for Chinese requirements so no procurement by them. Each country has its own requirements and buys weapons accordingly.

JF-17 is nowhere near the fighting falcons and that is the reason china is not inducting them.
Hi,
Yes, to first but it will take time for 17 to mature. No. to second as they have different requirement than that of Pakistan. When the program was envisioned it was meant for both but as the time passed, chinese economy grew at unprecedented growth with which the change in security dynamics all evolved. Hence the need for jf-17 was negated.

They have several different projects down the pipeline which can better meet their requirements

I read some where that this plne equal to the block 40/42 of the famous f-16 any one read such thing?.

Because the f-16s are already built and waiting, they're also cheaper in the short term. The jf17 would take a long time to build a required amount, and would take significant investment as opposed to just buying second hand f16s.

the jf17 is meant to build Pakistan's domestic capabilities and replace its aging fleet of mirages and f7s.

Also, no one says the jf17 is as good as modern f16s, it's only as good as the original 16s currently, but should improve significantly with block 2 and 3.

PAF and PLAAF has very different strategic needs, so PLAAF chose J10, and PAF chose JF17, after balancing all factors that may include tactical parameters, industrial capability, supply chain and financials.

Put aside the tactical parameters between different plane models, Pakistan adopts a very important strategic move , i.e. domestic production of major aerial weapons. This has a long term and broad scale impact on Pakistan's future national interests.

.
JF-17 Block 1 is around 80% as capable as a MLU'ed F-16 (if my memory serves me right).

Block 2 and Block 3 (not sure if there is gonna be a Block 3) is going to be similar to F-16 C/D Block 50/52 in my opinion.

Hi,

With all due respect
I would politely question the parameter you used to compare it and come up to the figure you stated.

JF17's show in Zhuhai last month was impressive, was it Block 1 or 2?
Anyway I guess you guys can continue to upgrade this weapon system, and optimize the supply chain ... :pakistan:

Stop globing.

Give a rundown of the parameters which are important to PLAAF and maybe not important to PAF and clearly mention your J10B & JF17s performance on those parameters.

If you can't produce those numbers, then I would say JF 17 with all its advances is still sub par to other chinese developments let alone F-16.

Yeah ?

For Block-1...

Radar/avionics, data link, composites, possibly the engine, air-to-air refueling, and the weaponry available currently etc.

Rest you can make the comparison with figures available online.

Dunno...we'll find out.

I think they were Block-1 (which has the A2A Refueling tracts already).

Yeah ?

Wow ordering me to stop? Scary ha... :cheesy: ... Stop ranting you stupid I can say whatever I want ... :coffee:
You go give a set of parameters that counter my statement, that's an order ...
If you can't give these numbers, then I would say PLAAF and PAF have different strategic needs.
Go get it now.

Yeah basically you are diplomatically saying that JF17 is sub par right ? That's what I thought,
