What's new

If Afghanistan fails, Pakistan could follow: Biden

Afghanistan was the only nation which was against the creation of Pakistan in 1947. They have a right wing nationalist element which has always coveted to this very day the whole of Balochistan province as well as most of NWFP, FATA and much of Kashmir as well as some of Punjab. To this very day they do not recognize the official border between the two countries originally laid out by Sir Mortimor Durand on behalf of British India and then ratified many times over by various Afghan leaders over the years.

They even want Baluchistan, Kashmir and parts of Punjab. This is new to me but knowing Afghans they will probably settle for no less then the whole of Pakistan. I say we should cut all ties to them, they wont survive a day without us. We literally feed the, I would say 90% of Afghanistan's food and other needs come from Pakistan. We have always offered them our good will but they have always spit at us, its about time we teach them a lesson.

May be Balochistan can be related to bangladesh problem which i already mentioned!!

This is new official Indian propaganda and Govt. of Pakistan should watch closely all Indian approaches to it.

I am surprised this is news to you. There has always been a right wing expansionist element within Afghanistan that wants to seize as much of western pakistan as they can manage. Mostly it is composed of Pakhtuns. During the soviet occupation in fact it was the plan of the USSR to eventually destabilize, invade and then anexx enough of western pakistan to give them a warm water port, such as gawadar.

During the '80s most of the suicide attacks in pakistan were launched by their agency KHAD in order to weaken state control over the provinces they wanted to annex. During the 1980s Murtaza Bhutto when he was fighting against the state of pakistan was given santuary in Kabul for his terrorist group. Also, today the BLA(Balochistan Liberation Organization) has a nice comfortable office in Kabul.

But cutting ties might be the wrong approach. It is the hardline rightwing nutjobs there that are the enemies of pakistan. By giving aid one can reach out to the moderates and pro pakistanis. Being that they are pakistan's neighbors a twopronged approach has to be taken.

I think such statements are only made to make sure other American law makers don't lose sight of their mission in Afghanistan. He is trying to draw attention to this region by making such inflammatory remarks. It may actually end up helping Pakistan, with increased aid to both Pak and Afghanistan to keep them from "failing".

pakistan govt is handling balochis in similar way as they did with bengali!!

Baloch economy is stronger than ever before and majority of development funds are allocated to projects in Balochistan. Its no secret that we've neclected the mineral rich province for decades but local elected governents are as much to blame for this neglect as GoP.
No way we're handling her the we did with East Pakistan, Gwadar Port, Makran Highway, new Sui Gas connections and electirfications of inner Balochistan is prove that we want to bring it par with other provinces and grant them as much political and economical freedom as approperiate for a province.

The preamble of the Awami National Party's 2008 Manifesto reads:

Manifesto of the Awami National Party

The purpose of this Manifesto is to inform the public about the aims and objectives of the Awami National Party (ANP) so that voters in the forthcoming General Elections will know clearly what the Party stands for. The mnanifesto does not purport to be a detailed programme of action. It seeks only to describe the spirit that motivates the Party and the overall principles that will govern its policies, should it be called upon to serve the people of Pakistan and of the entire Pukhtunkhwa in particular, either singly or in partnership with others.

THE PREAMBLE

The Awami National Party draws its inspiration from the example and teachings of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, affectionately known to his people as Baacha Khan. He spent his entire life in the struggle for freedom and justice. He and his Khudai Khidmatgars offered great sacrifices in the fight against colonialism, imperialism and all other forms of oppression. In a broader sense, Baacha Khan saw politics as the highest form of public service and often described himself as only a social worker. His objective was to liberate the masses of South Asia and, particularly, his own people, the Pukhtuns, from the shackles of ignorance and poverty, so that they could rise to their full potential.

In keeping with this spirit, the ANP, like its predecessors, the NAP (National Awami Party) and the NDP (National Democratic Party), looks upon politics primarily as a public service, particularly to the poor and the disadvantaged. Hence the Party is dedicated to the promotion of democracy and freedom, the eradication of poverty, the protection of human rights, the combating of extremism in all its forms and the creation of equal opportunities for all citizens. It firmly believes in peace and non-violence as the best way to resolve all issues. It is committed to securing for all the federating units of Pakistan their full political, social and economic rights as equal partners in the federation and their fair share in national progress and prosperity.

In the pursuit of these goals, the ANP is ready to work together with like-minded forces in Pakistan and to subscribe to partnerships with all peace loving countries of the world.

That speaks volumes!

With all due respects, I would also like to add that one should not forget the the real origin and root cause of the whole mess i.e. West Pakistan politics and fears of Bengali domination and its attempt to not let Mujib take charge!

To offset the arguments that there were Bengali PMs earlier (check the constituents of their Cabinet and it will tell the story), Mujib was no pushover! And he proved it so by being in jail and yet his charisma ensured Bangladesh!

Guys, Biden is a good guy for us. He is trying to get some funds to make us prosper.. and the next government stable. Not a bad idea at all! ;)

Of course Russia and India are involved, but they need the cooperation of right wing afghan nationalists who want to bite off and absorb a piece of Pakistan. And then India bites off most or all of what is left. Pakistan is surrounded by two hostile powers on the east and the west, both of whom want to absorb all or part of pakistan. In fact if tomorrow pakistan was dissolved and split down the middle these two countries would be overjoyed because they know they would get the pieces between them. So of course it is logical to assume that both India and Afghanistan would work together as enemies of Pakistan. I should say some nationalist elements in Afghanistan, not all of them obviously.

This is what Afghanistan used to look like 300 years ago.

Many afghans even today want most of that map back, it's why they never recognized Pakistan in 1947 because they wanted most of those lands given to them! I don't have to remind anyone of what the map of British India looked like, obviously Indian expansionists want some or all of that territory absorbed as well.
