Joint exercises is all about learning..learning...learning nothing else.

And I believe IAF is very good at learning, looking back what happened in the past (even in real war) and rectify it.

MMRCA competition + heavy presence of UAVs are the corrective action of Kargil war experience. Nobody is perfect and learning is always a process.

Where did I say anything about IAF vs PAF? I'm not a retard (like many others) who derail the thread. There was no point in mentioning IAF beating USAF 90% of the times in some exercises etc.I just stated that . .

Doubt it. Last time around younger pilots were sent with Su30MKI to get additional experience and be able to match USAF capabilities. Infact there were pilots who flew non-spot using mid-air refeuling, caffeine pills and adult diapers to reach the destination. I suspect the same will take place this time aswell.

True but I feel that the Su-30 MKI is stealing the MiG 21/29's thunder!Anything that has to do with the IAF has the Su-30 in 'em!The fulcrums and M2K's are piloted by really experienced pilots so I think that it's time for them to have some fun)

quit your trolling bro i am only listing facts! the IAF used SU-30MK (not MKI) fighters during its cope India 04 exercise with the USAF i am directly quoting col. greg newbech of the USAF

Well about cope 2004 IAF winning 90% of Mock fights, let me tell you, the missions were like 1 US fighter jet Vs 3 IAF jets or even more 4 US AF jets Vs 12 IAF Jets. These exercise had IAF playing aggressor and USAF as deffender. The strike packages contained Mig 27, M2K, Mig 29, Mig 21 and Su 30 MK. Also we have to take Handicaped F15C senario for USAF as well.. This was not only asked by IAF but this is usually the format of exercise and training.. Also USAF was lobbying for F22, we should not forget that. USAF with satellites, drones, awacks, counter measures ECCM, growlers, prowlers, advanced radars and weapons would be too hot to handle by any airforce in the world..

its just good learning process for us, they have best training program for there plots .. it doesn't matter that who win in 1 o 1 situation because it real case USAF can not be defeat by any air force now .. who knows future ..

Why doesn't IAF use Mig29s during exercises held within India? Our Government cannot afford to spend 20 million dollars every year!!!!, and our is fifth largest economy. Apart from exercising with British and French we need exercise with Israelis because these are bunch of guys who know F16 inside out.

Of course! Thats what the news papers reported without as much as understanding the ROEs. FYI, each F-15C - with many of their subsystems shutdown - were pitted against 3 MiG-21s. That was what IAF asked. However MiG-21s are very maneuverable but are a generation or two behind the F-15s. Yet they are a formidable aircraft. But in a 3 against 1 scenario, what would you expect?

Isn't that obvious that a F-15 would really face such scenarios in an airsuperiorty missions ??.......against an enemy like India/Russia/China......where they'll be outnumbered by Mig 21 type planes in higher ratios than 1:3........our MKIs also had their subsystems shutdown......and even IFF was not allowed with dozens of other restrictions.......in Red-Flag.......some one here mentioned about learning dog fights from Americans and allies out there in Nevada......against F-16/F-15s.....aren't our Mig 29s better dog fighters with M 2K being better at supersonic and high altitude warfare??.......Wouldn't a similar exercise with Russian, Israeli, Australian, Malaysian and French air forces here in India could be as helpful ??........American never feild their best.......why are we fielding our best planes.....If dog fights is the objective why don't send a dozen Mig 29s/ M 2K??

IAF are only left with flying junk of 3 decades except for Su-30 hence you see them frequently.

mig 29s should be participating- extremely good fighters and after upgradation we need to check their performance against other modern 4th gen fighters like f 15s and f 16s

That would be AFTER.....plus 124 Mig 21 bisons......as combat fighters......They can't take Mig 21s as far as america since it can't hold enough fuel you see.

mig 29smt too..... but yes you are right in that before 2015 we will have only these 3 fighters which could be considered advanced- just shows how important the mmrca and fgfa deals are to india
