Commemorating 50 years of defeating Pakistan in the 1971 war, Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief RKS Bhadauria gifted a legacy Alouette III helicopter to Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) and got a legacy F-86 Sabre aircraft as a return gift from Dhaka.

"To mark the Golden Jubilee of 1971 War of Liberation, IAF chief RKS Bhadauria gifted a legacy Alouette III helicopter to the Bangladesh Air Force. Bangladesh Air Force chief too gifted an F-86 Sabre aircraft that had been restored by BAF after the 1971 war. Both legacy aircraft will find a place of pride in museums on both sides," IAF stated in a tweet.

The exchange of aircraft took place in Dhaka during the four day trip of Bhadauria to Bangladesh where he visited different airbases and interacted with the top military leadership of that country.

India and Bangladesh are celebrating 50 years of the liberation war in which the Pakistan Army was thrown out of Bangladesh and 90,000 of their troops were made to surrender.

A number of events are being organised by both countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the decisive war.

They are not following social distancing or face mask protocols. Extract fines from both of them :)

Lol IAF could not even take out lone f86 sqd in eastern front when they had mig21 su7 hunters attacking day and night and lost more fights then they could destroy despite numerical and technical advantage.
You can’t shoot down what doesn’t fly...
After the fuel depot hit, there was basically no fighter cover over east...
Pakistan did sent f104 but those fought against the soviets. They were shot down

I did not know Soviets actively participated in 1971 war. I thought they only sent their navy in Bay of Bengal to scare off America and British.

Not sure where did the F.104 connection come from. No starfighters were sent to the East and none fought against the Soviets on either of the two fronts.

There was only a single squadron of F.86E's in Dhaka and they stopped flying after the high altitude bombing by MiG.21's which made the runway unsuitable for flying.

11 F.86's were left by Paf at Dhaka after destroying the wiring and I think a few were brought back into service later on.

They were, but Pakistan sent f104 via srilanka to counter the Indian threat... soviet pilots flew in and engaged in dogfights. I don’t remember exactly how many f104... but one soviet pilot was killed... Pakistan lost the initiative after that. I always thought soviets shot down in Afghanistan by PAF was a **** you for 1971s beat down
Ghadharzz always happily down their Lungeez to please the masters.....

The sabres were sabotaged for the most part... they didn’t fly for more than a year following repairs.
read about the f104 engagements that were sent via srilankan to counter Indian carrier threat

No F.104's were involved on the Eastern front, there was only one squadron of Starfighters in Paf and they had their hands full on the western front.

In 1971 how many fighters did Pakistan have total? How many were shot down?
The f86s you talk about... 2 reported to be shot down by gnats in battle of boyra
The pilot reportedly even congratulated by a Pakistani pilot after the war
