A notable omission but this is by design. The IAF/MoD/GoI do not talk about such projects. It would have been like the CNS talking about the ATV during its development- it just was not done.

IAF ASR is very ambitious they want full aspect stealth,excellent manoeuvrability, network centric , passive detection,sensor fusion.Which is over ambitious to do in one go.

The base version with a balance in stealth / manoeuvrability will be priority in first 10 years and go for full ASR with remaining years.

But our Air force chief never said JF-17 never meets the requirements on which based the aircraft build. On the other hand what IAF expecting from Tejas unfortunately they can never be meet. Many Indian members said IAF maintain their standard never induct a plane under testing or have flaws not they are inducting a plane with flaws.

Passive detection is there in Rafale, Maneuverability comes with the design

Network centric and sensor fusion are being developed as we speak.

I am optimistic in this regard.

I.e the LCA cannot be the SOLE induction made by the IAF going foreword. This is a direct response to those nonsensical articles that keep popping up making a case for the IAF to induct the LCA as an adequate substitute for RAFALE and SU-30MKI!!

As he has said, the IAF will be inducting multiple platforms to meet their combat requirements across the entire spectrum of operations.

15 years to develop such capabilities is not outside the realms of possibility, especially with the inclusion of the private sector into the project. The DRDO themselves are doing very impressive work in a lot of these fields.

Because your AF chief don't want to convince media about problem they have and they only talks about positives. If they have any serious shortfalls they simply solve it without speaking about it.
In India that is not the case, you should cry for decades to clear a deal or even accept a requirement.

Mirage 2000 was inducted without weapon firing capability.
AF have some ego problems with HAL.

Can't confirm now. Wait for full trial of UTTAM AESA by 2017. Back up is Isreal AESA.

Fgfa hiccups will be sorted out. And hope to see some movement on this front by the time pm vists Russia.

Two jaw dropping news for me : 120+ Tejas and 150+ rafales.
