IA to Raise Another BrahMos Regiment - 17th Mountain Strike Crops to be Armed with BrahMos Block III

Here is my high horse.

The Brahmos has many subsystems developed by us as many sources show.

This offers us two main advantages.

1) We gain expertise in developing subsystems for missiles and the percentage of Indian systems in Brahmos will increase further.

2) The CX 1 will differ form Brahmos due to things explained in point number 1.

So it will be hard for our enemies to know the true potential and exact pros and cons of Brahmos.

This is the advantage of doing things on your own and having R&D.

Own share? The damn subcontinent is full of petty little people who swim in their own little wells and keep asking "Is the world bigger than this?".

And in doing that the Chinese saved over a billion dollars in R&D to simply stand right beside India in the field just like that.
I wonder which is the thing to laugh about, the fact that the CX-1 is a direct copy or that it gives China exactly what India has in less than 1/10th of the time and cost?

Two things my dear,

1: First to laugh, will most definitely cry later.
2: Once a thief, always a thief..... This is a theft of intellectual property, not to mention its a ongoing process.

How long do you think they can keep up with this process? You know this can't go on forever, THEN WHAT?

Those advantages are undeniable. But at the same time in terms of a quickfire levelling of capabilities that Chinese approach works. Their universities have reverse engineering degrees.. nothing can compete with ingrained education on that level.

Apparently it is going on strong and looks to last.

No laughing matter. The first thing a Chinese engineer does is look at something and see how the can make it at home.
It's a famous story on how the first thing a Chinese AF General visiting PAF F-16s base did was to get in and start measuring things.

Most people seem to belittle reverse engineering and brand it as something shameful, without understanding that it has challenges of its own. Figuring out why things were put the way they are is no small deal.

No doubt the subcontinent has a thing or two to learn from the chinese.

The Chinese literally have the best approach, their reverese engineering concepts have moved beyond just replicating it to replicating something and then finding out everything in that particular field simultaneously.
So lets say its AESA.. then they'll copy a AESA while at the same time have a team of AESA engineers working on stuff from scratch. The knowledge of the two is then combined at various stages to produce a product.

All good things come to end n days r numbered.

That is the only approach for reverse engineering worldwide. Indians do that too but to some extent as there are IP restrictions that are in place. And we abide by that. They also rely heavily on espionage and as a result we have a flying bird now.

Whether we do can do it or not is a different story, where as its a stated policy for them.

Well, it is certainly good, but personally I wouldn't say its the best. The best would be collaborating with the OEM and learning from them, while carrying out R&D on your own.

Besides,in this regard, the Chinese have their political system in their favor.
