MUZAFFARNAGAR: BJP’s Khatauli MLA Vikram Saini on Friday declared that, until such time that the government makes a law on population control, he had told his wife to keep “producing” more children.
Addressing a public meeting in Muzaffarnagar, Saini said, “Until a law on population control comes into existence, I have told my wife to keep producing children, even though she told me that two were enough.”

This is not the first time that Saini has made controversial statements. He had earlier attacked Christians, saying New Year celebrations were a Christian festival and must be shunned by Hindus.

At the event, which was on population control, Saini told the gathering, “We have accepted the two-child policy, but others have not. The law should be same for everyone. Hindus should not stop producing children. When we had two children, my wife said we did not need a third one, but I said we should have four to five.”

In January, Saini had said “Hindustan is for Hindus”, telling Muslims to go to Pakistan, and also saying that Valentine’s Day was a Christian festival and must be shunned by Hindus.
one must ask a question to him
would he like to contribute in 'production' or wold he like to just supervise the workers engage in production ....??

They do.Look the amount of concession provided to them whether by state govt or central govt, more than any other commuity. Most rural youth tend to prefer to be in religious institutes than science math geography & tend to oppose any reform. You would find most Hindu & Christian school in India coincides with modern education system side by side.

Bullshit.

This types of statements make me think UPA with all their corruptions are better than these people.

It's interesting how these incredible retards keep driving those of us who were hostile to the Congress to believing that the Congress is actually better. The BJP are their own worst enemies.

With 1.2 billion population what does this man want? More babies?
Even our huge land mass will not be able to provide for the ambitions of such a huge population.

Reduce population growth to save the world, otherwise the world will protect itself by giving humanity death.

Thank you for helping me locate this article once again; I had been referring it to people for some days, and then inexplicably lost track of it, probably because of one unwise deletion of a mail.

Personally, Tagore is the soundest position of all in intellectual terms. He opposed nationalism outright, and made no bones about it. However, it is difficult to adopt his position in real life; nations have to exist, someone has to collect taxes, provide personal and community security, build roads and bridges, support a meaningful health-care system, supervise and promote an educational system appropriate to the current state of literacy, education and learning (three different things altogether), and guarantee individual freedom against the power of the mob. So, when I survey the nations of this world, I am happy and honoured to be an Indian, even while taking into considerations the vicissitudes of living in a parliamentary democracy in the third world. That is a loyalty that must necessarily be a total commitment, excepting only an abuse of human rights, individual and community human rights both included, and necessarily under the rule of law, not under the rule of the majority.

It is difficult to explain to bhakts why they are wrong; for them, nationalism is identical with patriotism, even, perhaps, with that extreme form known as jingoism, and therefore they start their thinking from that axiom, that each individual citizen must first and foremost be a hyper-patriot, a jingo. It does not occur to them that there may be good citizens who do not find it necessary to proclaim, with Stephen Decatur, "....our country, right or wrong....", who do not find it necessary to adhere to one language and one religion for the entire nation, who do not question the sacrifices of our military, but yet demand the highest standards from them, who do not question their fellow citizens in their own understanding of what the nation represents but take a broad view and include all who hold that broad view.

The irony is that Pakistan is precisely that nation, the child of Westphalia: one language, one religion and an unflinching hatred of its major neighbours, a blind and mindless adoration of the military, and an inability to allow deviant views on religion or language or military to survive. What the BJP represents is nothing but the desiccation of the idea of India, a reduction of that idea from the multi-lingual, multi-parochial commonwealth founded on human rights that was intended, down to a single language, and, it is hoped by them, over time, a single religion as well. It is difficult to understand how they think they will hold on to power indefinitely with this baggage around their necks.

Muslims oppose family planning.
In theory, almost all do.
But you will find that a lot of muslims stick to 2-3 children. Muslims in southern india tend to have lower number of children. They are progressing, though slower than the other communities. Muslims girls have become more vocal and assertive in modern times.
Social changes occur slowly.

But no state, no religion, is perfect or flawless. And no leader either. The great B.R. Ambedkar, in his last speech to the Constituent Assembly, said that “in India, Bhakti or what may be called the path of devotion or hero-worship, plays a part in its politics unequalled in magnitude by the part it plays in the politics of any other country in the world. Bhakti in religion may be a road to the salvation of the soul. But in politics, Bhakti or hero-worship is a sure road to degradation and to eventual dictatorship”.

Ambedkar’s warning was prophetic. It anticipated the rule, or rather the misrule, of Indira Gandhi, which came about only because her bhakts placed their liberties at her feet. And now, Modi bhakts are blindly worshipping our present prime minister. In truth, this cult of the great leader which Ambedkar warned against bedevils not only Indian politics, but also Indian corporate and intellectual life, even Indian cricket.

Gandhi himself once admitted to making a Himalayan blunder. But I cannot recall Narendra Modi acknowledging even a minor mistake. However, it is very important that citizens recognise that like nations and cultures, leaders are not perfect or infallible either.
