I am proud of the Kargil operation: Musharraf

I fail to understand how this guy hopes to win the elections after making such foolish statement.

Here are simple facts:

Two countries with a de-facto border.

This man launches an ill-managed war to change the border, without even taking his own compatriots into confidence.

War takes place, hundreds of people die on each side.

War ends, de-facto border is still the same without an inch of change in it.

End result - thousands of good people died for absolutely nothing! Not even taking into consideration the loss of finances involved.

And then comes the mastermind thumping his chest saying how proud he is!

Trust me guys, whoever appreciates this statement of Musharraf is even crazier than he.

Rest In Peace, dear old common sense.

Pakistan executes a brilliantly conceived operation and intrudes several miles into disputed territory......taking Indians completely by surprise.
India launches attacks to clear the posts.....no joy suffers heavy casualties.
All the fighting takes place on the Indian side, few times the Indian aircraft venture into Pakistan air space.....they come down in flames.
Shell shocked, India turns to US and Israel for help, hence three brains at work against much smaller Pakistan....still no signs of success for the Indians.
In due course, Pakistan's clay footed PM buckles under pressure and helps Indians in saving face.
Now feeling brave, India launches attacks on withdrawing Pakistani forces and causes some casualties.
In the end, it's widely reported that Pakistan still occupies several Kargil peaks.
Kargil coffin corruption rocks the Indian government. !!

How about, Indians kill thousands of pakistani soldiers. pakistan bravely refuses to accept their corpses. Pakistani soldiers buried by kufr in kufr enemy land. Families of those fellows could not even see their last faces... 10 years later their names are uploaded in ISPR website under shuhadra column.

Very well done indeed.

My friend....I agree with most of the points which you stated above..... But I am sure the Objective of Kargil wasnt above...... If you can state the objective of kargil when it was planned, then we can discuss on the merits of whether it was a success or failure

The main aim of Op Badr was capturing some Indian territory and force India to come at negotiation table and force her to pullout from Siachin

Despite PA having 2-3 peaks even now, the main objective is not accomplished

By no way its a victory

At the briefing, Gen Zia did explain the ‘objectives’ of the operation — it had cut off India’s supply lines to Siachen because of the closure of Zojila Pass on Srinagar-Drass-Kargil-Leh road.

This, said Gen Zia, would block India from supplying its troops in Siachen and subsequently, India would evacuate Siachen. That this did not happen is now history.

Gen Aziz says this was because the planners “miscalculated the Indian response and overall repercussions”.

hmm......

Our soldiers were made to occupy barren ridges, with hand held weapons and ammunition. There was no way to dig in, so they were told to make parapets with lose stones and sit behind them, with no overhead protection. The boys were comforted by their commander’s assessment that no serious response would come. But it did — wave after wave, supported by massive air bursting artillery and repeated air attacks. The enemy still couldn’t manage to capture the peaks, and instead filled in the valleys. Cut off and forsaken, our posts started collapsing one after the other, though the general publicly denied it.

Yey....... We made Indians pissed off for a 2 months with our flip flops and with some NLI expendables

Fact is Kargil intrusion made pakistan weak in the international arena. All the points are right but Nawaz sharif is the one who went to Clinton not Indians.

What was Musharraf doing when Nawaz went for mercy, why not do a coup and grant victory for Pakistan.

He would have considered a greater hero.

Fact is Musharraf went hiding under the political establishment when the Indian response intensified.

Yup, an army that supposedly agreed to accept defeat because the PM says so decides that while a defeat is okay, sacking a CoAS is so not okay that it warrants a coup. Yeah right! The things people will allow themselves to be persuaded to believe. :)

By passing all the hot air.....hope you remember, the so called coup was carried out in the absence of the army chief.
Pervez Musharaf was on a visit to Sri Lanka when NS tried to dismiss him.....the force commanders were pretty cheesed off with NS earlier debacle hence they stood behind their chief.......after the coup, even the general public were distributing sweets on the streets......hardly anyone demonstrated. !!

LOL so u tell me why it is always a make up story from indian side then from ours??
U can run but u cant hide kid.
He is the general not a NCO or lower rank person from enemy side saying this!!!
I guess we will believe him more then u.

you wouldn't understand the crux of his argument and meaning of his disagreement.so with you the easiest argument one can make is " he is a publicity seeker, he is a fraud.now what ?

Yeah but everything was planned beforehand. It was not like Musharraf came back & sent his boys home. Plenty of your generals, none of them indicted by armed forces tribunals have said contrary to your claims that Pakistan was doing very well on the battlefield. It doesn't matter how bad a government is, most governments are disliked after a time; what is clear is that the PA was not one to blindly follow a civilian leader, least of all if they were, as suggested by you, actually winning a war.

.
this is what i say, a publicity seeker had been a General that has fought battle for yr country:rofl:

Its easy to say that to those who dont normally share yr imaginary claims.

he is under shadow of allegation from his subordinate.btw you tend to ignore the numerous army officers, diplomats, politicians, analysts who said kargil operations was a disaster for pak, both militarily and diplomatically.

.
I don't know why everyone sees the Kargil war as a disaster rather than anything else? The Kargil war was our response to Siachen invasion by India. Furthermore if the casualties are compared then Pakistan suffered much less in proportion to the previous wars with India. The only thing was that PM had not been taken into confidence and that is where all the issue stems from.

A COAS launches an international military action without the government's approval, and without having other forces informed. How is that not rogue action amounting to treason by definition?

I don't disagree with Musharraf that it should have been tried - but I would be proud if it had achieved something meaningful.

What are your grounds for saying that Kargil should have been "tried"? What good could possibly have come from it, in foresight as well as hindsight? It was a huge miscalculation from the start, and ended with an even bigger disaster than could have been foretold. The planner-in-chief should have been court-martialled, and it is not too late to do that even now. Bringing Gen Musharraf to justice for his rogue actions would be an important deterrent message for any future COAS.

Like we have clarified its because of politics we had lost but militarily it was a wonderful success no doubt.

Good to see a few Pakistani's still believe in Musharraf
