Human Development Index: Pakistan remains stagnant at 146

Dear i don't want to go into deeper but we are still a country behind in many parameters.... Also pace of improvement is slow.....

Has it ever been fast, that's why the world calls it Hindi or hindu rate of growth. But things are about to change, Sri Lanka has just come out of a devastating civil war, there is a feeling of confidence and self belief throughout Sri Lanka that I haven't felt before.

I traveled a lot throughout the sub continent, especially Dhaka. In the late 80s throughout the early 90s there were loads of street beggars, you'd notice them when you came straight out of the airport. Now you'd be hard pressed to find them (except a few "professional" ones that hang around the main road intersections).

With the growth of the RMG industry it's become really difficult to find maid servants or even drivers now in dhaka, and if you do they have major demands, increased salary, paid holidays, accommodation, mobile phones etc...

You know this is good, the middle class had become lazy, the wives didn't even cook, just spent their days chatting on the phone or watching soaps on tv in between shouting at the servant for no apparent reason. Now they have to get off their fat ars*s and cook their own food.

We have a long way to go, but I can see gleamer of hope...

I see people fighting for stupid reason however they lack to debate real issues every country faces in SA.....
For me situations are having improving trend but not sufficient..... We ned to mover faster to race with rest of the world else we would find it hard to fight for Roti Kapda or Makan even after 50 yrs from now.....

You'll have excuse me, my mother tongue is either Dutch or English. I don't know what Roti Kapda or Makan is, but I agree with you we have to move faster, much faster just to get to where the rest of the world is. Hope the entire SA region can achieve its goals within my lifetime.

Sorry dear my mistake....i meant large no of population still fighting hard for very basic necessities like Bread,shelter n clothes to cover their body.....

I hear you, I sometimes think we are pre built to be self-destructive, wasteful and stupid in SA fighting over religion, language, shade of our skin....the rest of the world must be sitting back and having a good laugh at us.

I hear you, I sometimes think we are pre built to be self-destructive, wasteful and stupid in SA fighting over religion, language, shade of our skin....the rest of the world must be sitting back and having a good laugh at us.

Sad isn't it? We all seem to revel in news of how our badly our neighbour is doing when we are not that much better. Look our neighbour has only managed to be 999th position in the HDI and we are 997th, yea I know all those 996 countries have better living conditions but....yeaaaaa....at least were beter then our neighbour....LOL.

Do we leave any chance to score brownie points???? Especially in PDF???? How many posters here think we can learn from each other mistake??? Instead we try to score points on each other mistake?? This is one of the reason why we are where we are...... I am sure the western countries must be laughing at us

Forget western countries, South East Asians, Latin Americans....and not...in too near a future African too. People need to grow up an look around their own neighbourhoods.
