Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei Complete Large-scale 5G Early Deployment in Wuzhen

Nov 12, 2018

[Wuzhen, China, November 12, 2018] During the Fifth World Internet Conference, Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei completed the early deployment of 5G in Wuzhen. The network uses Huawei's 5G end-to-end (E2E) products and solutions to provide continuous coverage. The two parties also conducted a series of tests and verifications in preparation for large-scale 5G network, single user data rate up to 2.7Gbps. The network is able to offer supreme Gbps-level peak data rates and unprecedented innovative 5G service experiences. These include 8K live broadcasts, 8K virtual reality (VR), and in-ambulance telemedicine. Such achievements mark another major step in bilateral 5G cooperation since the launch of "5G City" in Hangzhou this May. The coordinated effort between Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei is set to bring more leading technologies to reality and promote the growth of Zhejiang's digital economy.

The 5G network is deployed in Dongzha, Wuzhen, and features the non-standalone (NSA) architecture by incorporating both Huawei's C-band 64T64R massive MIMO AAUs and terminals. The network consists of dozens of sites in various forms, including rooftop sites, pole sites, and tube sites. Thanks to scenario-specific smart beams and 3D beamforming, Huawei 5G C-band AAUs boast flexible and precise cell coverage control and can deliver Gbps-level ultimate user experience. The tests verified key 5G solutions and service procedures, including cell throughput and user experienced data rate. The ultra-high data rate of 5G networks can enable the wireless transmission of 8K and other ultra-high-definition video content.

The World Internet Conference is a grand event that offers a fantastic opportunity to gather the industry's top players. The theme of this year's meeting is "Creating a Digital World for Mutual Trust and Collective Governance — Towards a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace". Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei jointly conducted system verification and service demonstrations on a 5G network. Such efforts will bring more intelligent and superb service experience to guests from China and abroad.

"5G deployment and verification in Wuzhen are a strong reminder of the leading technical achievements that were showcased in last year's event. It also marks a great stride in the joint innovation between Zhejiang Mobile and Huawei," remarked Yang Chaobin, President of Huawei's 5G Product Line. "In 2017, Huawei's 3GPP 5G pre-commercial system was awarded high praise for World Leading Internet Scientific and Technological Achievements. The honor recognized the system's excellent E2E capabilities, technical innovation, and Huawei's contributions to the industry. Actions speak louder than words. In 2018, Huawei has taken the lead in launching a full set of 5G network equipment and solutions to support large-scale 5G deployment."

4G changes lives, and 5G changes societies. The 5G industry is becoming increasingly mature with 3GPP Release 15 standards frozen, and is witnessing an acceleration in large-scale network construction in 5G cities throughout the world. Huawei is ready to offer advanced 5G E2E products and solutions in its further cooperation with industry partners. The aim is to promote the growth of the industry chain and enable the success of 5G services.

The array of fitness-centric tech products have seen massive demand over the past few years and so did the manufacturers catering to the demand. Huawei has thus made a name in the fitness wearables space with its affordable Honor Band series. Over the years I had the opportunity to review a lot of wearables but none of them have offered as many features for $38. With the 11.11 Gearbest sales, the HUAWEI Honor Band 3 is now priced at just $18.59. Anyways is it worth buying this cheap fitness-band? Let’s find out!

Extraordinary Battery Life: 1 charge = 1 month

The Battery performance could be the most annoying aspects of using a smart wearable but that’s not the case with the Huawei Honor Band 3. The device is capable to Last up-to a month with just 1.5 Hours of charging. With a week of heavy usage, several pop-up notification from various apps synced and continuous heart rate monitoring, the device was still left with 75 percent which is extremely impressive.

The reason I love my Honor Band 3 is that the device is really comfortable as you’ve to charge it only once a month. That’s like just 12 times in a year you really have to worry about taking care of the device. In order to achieve this, the company had to remove the always-display on feature from the Honor band 3 but still you can wake up the screen by raising your arm depending on your settings or simply tap the button to wake it.

Water Resistance up-to 50 Meters:

The water resistance support is the most appealing features of the Huawei Honor Band 3. It supports up=to 50 Meters under water resistance. Which means you can take the Honor Band 3 for a swim without any worries. In-fact you don’t have to worry about taking it out in the rain or even have a shower with it. The Honor Band 3 is a solid-waterproof fitness tracker that I would recommend to anyone without fear.

Performance & Tracking:

The Honor Band 3 supports consistent heart rate monitor. The device will always keep tracking you. From your step, standing, or even when you’re sleeping. Everything will be automatically recorded. As far as we tested all the values proposed were reliable. Unlike the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, with the Honor Band 3 you can also track your swimming. What’s more fascinating is that, the band tracks your naps and with the metrics recorded, the device proposes you a sleep quality rating which is further matched with the Huawei’s sleep index algorithm.

Design that is sleek:

The Huawei Band 3 offers a sleek minimal look. It’s a well designed fitness tracker. The rubberized band is extremely comfortable to wear and slim enough thus there is no case of hurting your wrist. It also packs a large 0.9-inch P-OLED display which is clearly visible under sunlight. There is a dedicated charging dock which is provided but further powers a using micro USB port, so it is pretty convenient to get charged up at any point.

Huawei expands its open ecosystem of premium brand partners Delivery of new services and applications to augment user experience

Rome, 08 Nov 2018 – Huawei today announced the expansion of its user-centric Mobile Services open platform and ecosystem by new strategic global and local partners.

During a ceremony at the Huawei European Partner Convention 2018, Booking.com, Rentalcars.com, Rideways, KAYAK, Moovit, Qwant, Skyscanner and SQUID signed MOUs to distribute their premium content and services to Huawei users. The partners will join Huawei’s evolving mobile ecosystem that focuses on user experience, fuels the development of new innovations and thereby accelerates the digital economy.

The MOUs will cover the evolving range of applications within the Huawei Mobile Services suite and the new abilities built through Huawei’s newly launched intelligent distribution platform (Huawei Ability Gallery), from smart travelling (Booking.com, KAYAK, Skyscanner), transportation (Rentalcars.com, Rideways), urban mobility (Moovit), confidential search results (Qwant) and customised news (SQUID).

Huawei Ability Gallery provides intelligent connections between users and services. By integrating once into Huawei’s intelligent distribution platform and publishing their content and services through Huawei Ability Gallery, partners and developers can reach multiple touch points across Huawei intelligent devices, and engage with a wide global audience. Huawei collabourates closely with partners to bring premium Mobile Services to all users, enhancing their mobile experience in a new and innovative way.

In addition, Huawei and Visa have agreed to extend their global partnership to Europe by enabling the launch of Huawei Pay in key European markets with selected issuers. Huawei Pay uses Visa’s innovative tokenisation technology to make payments more practical and secure by replacing sensitive payment card data with a unique digital ID. When a consumer loads their card into Huawei Pay, Visa Token Service replaces the consumer's sensitive account information with a series of numbers – a “token” – that is specific to that card and device. Payments are made using the token, reducing the exposure of card information, adding another layer of security to Huawei’s payment solution. If the phone is compromised or stolen, the token cannot be used by any other device and can easily be deactivated without requiring the Visa card to be canceled. With the confidence of security, Huawei and Visa want to accelerate the advancement of the mobile payment industry to more national and regional markets together.

“We welcome our new partners and also look forward to working even closer with our existing partners”, says Jervis Su, Vice President of Mobile Services, Huawei Consumer Business Group. “These alliances create completely new exciting and personalised services and offer unique premium local experiences. Together with our partners, we continue to build an open and intelligent ecosystem that will better connect the world.”

During its launch event for the Mate 20 series smartphones on October 16 in London, Huawei also introduced a new type of expandable storage device – Nano Memory (NM) card, the first NM card in the world.

As a new storage media standard, the NM card takes up less space under the same capacity.

Identical with nano SIM cards in size and shape, the NM card is 45 percent smaller than traditional micro SD cards.

Li Xiaolong, Huawei's vice president in the mobile phone business, said on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo, "The NM card has a read speed of about 90MB/s and write speed of 70MB/s." Such speed can enable a smartphone to shoot 4k video clips with professional quality.

This kind of cards are only compatible with Huawei Mate 20 series including Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, because these smartphones offer a hybrid slot, which means users could put two nano SIM cards or just one with a NM card on it.

The NM card is available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256 GB options. However, the NM card does not have a friendly price. A 256 GB card is priced at 798 yuan, about 2.4 times the average price for regular micro SD cards.

Huawei has confirmed a partnership with Toshiba who will be in charge of the production of the NM cards.

Huawei's consumer group CEO Richard Yu said that he hopes NM cards could become a new industry standard. The company is not charging any licensing fees for the tech. Though only Huawei makes NM cards currently, Yu believed that more manufacturers will follow Huawei's steps in the future.
