What's new

Huawei P20 (899Euros) Released: 40 MP RGB camera, AI-driven photography system, and 4000 mAh battery

One thing you are right, there are no debating anymore, because you obiviously failed.

Otherwise you would have told me what is wrong with my sentence directly, the fact is, you failed to tell me or anyone that, that mean you failed

THE POINT BEING

- I SAID 5 MONTHS ON SEPTEMBER 1 that Huawei P20 is released for 5 months.

And you go gaga on that, which is the truth, and once caught you have no way to go back and save face

it's that simple.

Again, tell me what is otherwise wrong with my FACTUAL statement. or you can simply go take a hike.

The one that ignorant is YOU

Most EU (especially in Nordic) they counted season by harvest, it is WELL DOCUMENTED which date of time is what season, you have half a brain and half a functioning hand would have already found out on the internet.

Instead, you are still barking here. so...….who exactly is ignorant?

First of all, that was make back in May, scheduling can, and do change, I said that when they have not started 7nm production back in June, how am I going to know they are starting production in June back in May? I don't work with TSMC and I cannot foresee future. And back then it was released news on TSMC on whether or not they will have 7nm in 2018.

And no, I did not do that to undermine Mate 20, because Mate 20 is NOT the first 7nm chip out there, [no ads for you]. And yes, I still think releasing flagship phone in October is dumb, that is a personal opinion.
What truth?

Were Mate 20 RELEASED on Oct 16 to begin with? Nope.

It's EARLY release in EU is today, October 26, in Australia, it is WELL into November. .

How is it "Truth" by you when the date is in the future and as it happened, Mate 20 was not yet released in most part of EU and in Oceania. ? Are you telling me that you are so self absorb and claim that as "Truth" lol?

And again, you failed to challenge a simple fact that most of the EU country does not count October as fall, so. well. HAHA

And I just told you that YOU ARE WRONG.

When you are wrong on Q4/Q3 issue, that is related to the argument we had, which show how irrelevant your knowledge was. So, how it is irrelevant to any point you made when you don't even know what is Q3 and what is Q4. That is like the most basic of the basic knowledge out there.

Well, if and when you did "PROVEN" I am wrong, I am more than happy to come back at you on that. But not when you are just blowing hot air on a blow-dryer like you never ever got laid before. By that, you have proven nothing.

Oh well, fact check

Can I buy a Mate 20 in Australia? Nope, that was not released yet. So yes, it CAN and DID in this case, delayed.

And your "English" level is simply appalling. Saying my English is with "Vietnamese Characteristic" did not help with your argument, only saying your English itself is sub-par than Vietnamese.

The fact remain, Can and Will have 2 different meaning, you failed to see that, and in this case, Mate 20 DID not release in most part of the world in Oct 16 anyway, which render this whole point pointless to begin with, because you failed.

I don't need to attack you with typo when your argument felt to piece to begin with.

However, to attack me claiming to attack you with two typo mean you are desperate with point. that in itself is saying something

LOL

What's wrong with dude? Did Chinese never used the word dude?

Oh wait, you are WANNABE Chinese, not Chinese, I forgot, sorry.

so, you admit you are incoherent? That's good to know.

Oh, look at this Thai wannabe goes. LOL

So, strawman^ning is a verb?

First of all, Mate 20 is NOT being release on Oct 16 on most part of this world.

So, looks like you are the one that fall flat on your arse, not me.

Again, have Mate 20 being released?

First of all, Mate 20 is NOT being release on Oct 16 on most part of this world.

So, looks like you are the one that fall flat on your arse, not me.

lol, you are a clueless factless animal lol. You know what fact is?

Fact is Mate 20 is not released on OCt 16, and you failed

You are like one of those thai farmer just finding out how to fart because you are being farted as by a Chinese, and blowing up all the place lol.

Q4 is indeed the best case scenario. And As of now, I still cannot get a Mate 20 Pro in Australia, what can you say about that?

Bullshit and you know [no ads for you], and while you keep calling me arguing for semantic, then what the hell are you doing?

lol, I see insult, slur and hot air, I don't see a valid point you raise to "Prove" I am a liar.

If an insult is a argument, then well, all I can say is your mom didn't bring you up right.

So, I am bullshitting but you never tell me what have I bullshitting? Now this is what bullshitting mean.

So now, tell me what I said wrong, don't just start bullshitting all over the place and get it over with lol.

I always say "It can" show me where I did not say so and I gladly apologise.

Otherwise, LOSER.

Mate, you said "MOST OF THE WORLD" US and Canada is not MOST OF THE WORLD.

It doesn't matter if US and Canada is the leading consumer market in the world, when it was not most part of the world, it was not most part of the world. Just because US and Canada call it fall, does EVERYONE have to call it fall? Certainly not in Europe, Certainly not in any country south of the equator.

What kind of fish brain in that skull of yours would think what you say make sense? So I have to call it fall now here in my chair in Sydney just because it is fall in the US?

Well, the bullshit is yours.

lol, so for you, it is fall between September to November south of the hemisphere?

First of all, you know Mate 20 is not yet released in many part of the world, right?

secondly, it is well documented how each country in Europe find their season, but people like you most likely never even were in Europe, so how you gonna know about it? but still, not willing to find out by some click of the button is well, no other word for it, lazy and boneless.

and "Industrial Standard" will never use season like fall, to release something because "Fall" is a vague concept with the aforementioned reasons.

All put these together, it only show you a motherless weasel and well, honestly, have no clue on a lot of topic.

But yes, I am glad you try to discredit me by insulting me and attacking my English (which still a lot better than you) which can only mean yo uare desperate. Keep it up. And maybe if time come and you suck up with these Chinese, they will give you "Wannabe" something? I don't know.

lol

So much hot air. So much angry foaming.

It's cute though how despite all tough posturing you visibly tried to get your broken English in line, yet still got so much so horribly wrong. Glad I put a thumb on that nerve. Maybe my eyes won't bleed anymore every time I have to decipher your barely intelligible Vietnamese rants.

Well, since it's quite transparent you are down to your usual "just blatantly deny everything, unscrupulously claim the high ground and hope they get tired of the repetitive bullshit" monologue routine you pull off everytime when caught red handed and even scolding you for the deliberately obfuscating spins and strawman you keep piling up has become stale, I'm going to amuse myself rubbing salt into wounds with all those positive reports from this fall seasons, highly anticipated and expected Huawei Mate 20 release, in spite of all the fact's, truth's, impossible's, never's, certainly not's, wrong's, dumb's and clueless'es of some pitiful Vietnamese pumpkin trying so hard to fool and sucker in people on this forum.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro vs Google Pixel 3 XL: The weigh-in

Which towering new Android flagship will emerge victorious?

And here comes the Mate 20 Pro, one of the autumn's most compelling debuts. It's a sleek step up from this spring's Huawei P20 Pro, our favourite handset for the past several months, packing in a lot of additional polish and unique features as well.

Huawei Mate 20 series: China's best phone, but a pricey proposition

A tale of Four Mates

Hands On With its vast, formidable production machine roaring behind it, Huawei is giving itself two entries in the annual flagship race this year – the prize some other OEMs struggle to hit annually.

Not content with hyping its spring P-series, Huawei has turned its autumn line into a highly desirable consumer flagship contender too. Four models were introduced today: the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, a giant Note-sized 7.2-inch Mate 20 X, and a Porsche-branded variant. We haven't confirmed whether the latter two will reach the UK, but the former two are very much mainstream.

HUAWEI MATE 20 PRO REVIEW: STUFFED WITH GENUINE, FULL-ON INNOVATION

The world's second-largest smartphone maker launched the new device with the tagline: 'A higher intelligence is coming'

Today, the company revealed its latest phone, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Huawei's timetable sees two main releases a year, with the bigger-screen Mate Series taking the autumn slot. So, what's new?

Huawei Mate 20 Pro review

Huawei had nothing to prove, so it went and proved it anyway

The Autumn-dwelling Mate series of phones has traditionally been the more 'executive' range, but with the Chinese company on a roll, why stick to pigeon-holes and paradigms? As a result of Huawei's willingness to bend the rules of its naming conventions, the Mate 20 Pro manages to be more than an incremental update, a P20 Pro S, if you will.

HUAWEI MATE 20 PRO NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER AT CARPHONE WAREHOUSE

Carphone Warehouse, the UK’s largest independent mobile phone retailer, has announced the eagerly-anticipated Huawei Mate 20 Pro is available for pre-order in-stores nationwide and online ahead of its eventual release on October 26th.

Perfect for customers looking to upgrade their current handset to something more advanced during the autumn months, Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro smartphone comes jam-packed with new features and a host of performance upgrades that set it apart from its predecessors. The device will be available to buy in three stylish colour variants: Black, Green and Twilight.

Huawei's Mate 20 Pro can wirelessly charge other phones

The company's thrown the best of everything at this thing.

Over the past few months, all major smartphone manufacturers have laid down their last hands and stepped away from the table for the rest of the year. Apart from Huawei, that is, which -- as usual -- is getting the last word in by spilling the beans on the new Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro today. Historically, the Mate series was intended as direct competition to Samsung's Note family, but these days it's more like Huawei's fall flagships, filling in the gaps between the spring, P family launches.

Dezember? Weit gefehlt!

I started to think you are avoiding my question not because you cannot answer them, but because you have some intellectual disability. and frankly you don't understand what is an argument

Otherwise, answer my question direct.

The question is the following.

"What is wrong to call "for sell for 5 months" when I make the statement on Sept 2 when P20 Pro were on sale since 27 March, which is 5 months and 4 days to be exact?"

Well, it mean shit if and when I STILL CANNOT BUY IT in Australia and most of Europe

Well, it mean shit if and when I STILL CANNOT BUY IT in Australia and most of Europe
Well, considering you recently struggled to find more than 10 TVs with LCD screens in an online shop where over 90% of the TVs had an LCD screen and the shop lists you over 100 of them with two simple clicks on the right buttons, whether it was because of your linguistic or your intellectual disabilities or both and you fall far from the image of someone who frequents European cities and sound more like some pumpkin that has never seen the world, I am not surprised you can't. Sucks to be you.

But rejoice, you can count the days of your hand until the Mate 20 is unleashed even by the domestic vendors in a corner like Australia so the less savvy consumers like you can treat them self with this fall seasons hottest take. You can bridge the time with the endless streams of hands on reviews still pouring out since the Mate 20 has been launched.

Huawei Mate 20 Review: Kirin 980 Works Wonders

Argam Artashyan

On October 26, Huawei held a grand new product launch conference in Shanghai. Besides various smart home products and the smart AI speaker, it also announced four new high-end smartphones in face of the Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei Mate 20 RS Porsche Design, and the Huawei Mate 20 X.

Huawei-Mate-20-1-1024x575.jpg

Among the four models of Huawei Mate 20 series, the original model inherits the full range of Huawei Mate 10’s facades. It takes into account technological innovation and traditional accumulation. But these are only words. We need to take a closer look at each of those models. As for now, we are going to dig into the details of the Mate 20.

Huawei-Mate-20-1-1.jpg

Huawei Mate 20 Appearance

We are testing the 6+128GB variant of the Huawei Mate 20’s Aurora Blue.

Huawei-Mate-20-2.jpg

The packaging of the Huawei Mate 20 continues the Mate series’ classic gift box style, which still comes with the printed Leica logo on the cover.

The Huawei Mate 20 sports a high-definition drop screen with a 6.53-inch LCD material and a resolution of 2244×1080. The pixel density is 381ppi. The screen has reached an astonishing 88.07% screen ratio, which is standard for a drop full-screen design.

In the forehead, we can see the front-facing camera in the pearl-shaped non-display area, while other components are placed in a hidden design. The speaker is directly squeezed into the narrow space of the upper frame.

Huawei-Mate-20-4.jpg

The chin is very narrow, and the width is very close to the upper border that almost disappears. In the previous generation, there was a space to put down the text logo of ‘HUAWEI’. But the chin of the Huawei Mate 20 had been narrow enough to put nothing down.

Huawei-Mate-20-5.jpg

The Huawei Mate 20 continues the glass body design of the Mate 10 series. At the same time, it uses the metal middle frame + 3D glass back plate design. Due to the gradient color effect, different colors will appear under different angles of light. The lens, logo, and the fingerprint reader on the back of the fuselage continue to align with the central axis of the Mate series.

Huawei-Mate-20-6.jpg

In general, compared to the previous models of the Mate series, this generation of Mate has a stronger sense of order, while the soft and rounded sense of exquisiteness has become more apparent. At the same time, the business ‘atmosphere’ has not retreated. The back 3D curved glass and the smooth border are excessive. The rounded R angle makes the Huawei Mate 20 pretty nice.

Huawei-Mate-20-7.jpg

It is worth noting that the camera arrangement on the back of the fuselage has peaked in traditional cognition. This very conspicuous three-camera + flash module from the legendary sports car Porsche 919 Hybrid’s headlights has its own style and taste. Actually, there is no similarity with the iPhone-like models.

Huawei-Mate-20-10.jpg

Huawei-Mate-20-9.jpg

The color of the metal frame and the glass cover are all in one go. Even the chromatic aberration is not perceived. At this angle, we can also feel the roundness and softness of the multi-curved body of the Huawei Mate 20.

Huawei-Mate-20-8.jpg

Huawei-Mate-20-11.jpg

At the top of the fuselage, there are the noise-reducing microphones and the infrared sensor. It is worth noting that the Huawei Mate 20 still retains the 3.5mm headphone jack that is rare in today’s flagship models. But agree it provides a great convenience for daily use.

Huawei-Mate-20-12.jpg

On the bottom of the fuselage, there is the Type-C interface and the speaker.

Huawei-Mate-20-13.jpg

The Huawei Mate 20 supports dual-card dual-4G dual-VoLTE connectivity. There is no support for the SD card expansion. But the Huawei Mate 20 series supports the world’s first Nano Memory Card. This new storage format is 45% smaller than traditional microSD cards.

Huawei-Mate-20-14.jpg

Huawei Mate 20 Performance

The Kirin 980 is Huawei’s first 7nm self-developed mobile chip. The Huawei Mate 20 series has fortunately obtained its first launch.

Huawei-Mate-20-15.jpg

The Kirin 980 first launched a new 7nm commercial TSMC process, integrating up to 6.9 billion transistors, and has a stronger performance breakthrough on the basis of lower power consumption.

Huawei-Mate-20-16.jpg

The CPU uses the first commercial ARM Cortex-A76 high-end architecture, which combines four A76 and four A55 cores. Two of the four A76 cores have a maximum frequency of 2.6GHz and are responsible for providing extreme performance, while the other two are clocked at up to 1.92GHz. The other four A55 cores run at up to 1.8GHz. They are designed for low-load applications and are more energy efficient.

In the graphics part, the GPU is the first commercial ARM Mali-G76 with ten cores and a frequency of 720MHz. The graphics performance of the Kirin 980 G76MP10 is significantly higher than the previous generation, with a 46% increase. Plus, it supports the exclusive optimization of GPU Turbo to enhance performance in the game.

In terms of memory, the Kirin 980 supports four 16-bit channels of LPDDR4X, and the frequency is increased to 2133MHz, which is the highest at present, with a bandwidth of 34.1GB/s.

There is a new base in baseband, with support for LTE Cat.21/18, download speed up to 1.4Gbps, supporting 4×4 MIMO, three 20Hz carrier aggregation, 256-QAM, and download rate up to 200Mbps, supporting 2×2 MIMO, which is the first in the world.

In terms of AI, the Kirin 980 comes with a dual-core NPU unit, which is more powerful than previous generations, and supports AI scenes such as face recognition, object recognition, object detection, image segmentation, and intelligent translation, and has a deeper network with higher precision.

We can see that in the Honor of Kings, it runs on full frames with no pressure on the CPU. Basically, there are 61 frames.

Huawei-Mate-20-17.jpg

This is the real-time performance of PUBG. As you know, it has quite high requirements for smartphone hardware. But the Huawei Mate 20 doesn’t feel any inconvenience when playing this game.

Huawei-Mate-20-19.jpg

Huawei Mate 20 Camera

The Huawei Mate 20 adopts a 16 super-wide angle + 12MP wide angle (main camera) + 8MP telephoto triple-camera, in which the telephoto lens supports 2x optical zoom, while the main camera CMOS uses Huawei P20’s IMX380.

Daytime samples

It can be seen that the blur effect under the macro shooting mode is excellent. The coke is clear and sharp, and the blur is obvious. It is worth noting that the Huawei Mate 20’s training tendency is obviously more neutral, but it still keeps eyeballs.

Huawei-Mate-20-21.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-22.jpg

The samples of the buildings under the dark sky restore the gray atmosphere and the details of the dark parts of the building are preserved.

Huawei-Mate-20-23.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-24.jpg

As shown, we opened the ‘Super Wide Angle’.

Huawei-Mate-20-25.jpg

It can be seen that after the ‘Super Wide Angle’ mode is turned on, the Huawei Mate 20 can display a very wide scene in a narrow space. It also has a strong sense of distance and a sharp image with a strong three-dimensional effect.

Huawei-Mate-20-26.jpg

The backlit light stone buildings show excellent tolerance.

Huawei-Mate-20-27.jpg

The Super Macro mode provides detailed photos.

Night Samples

It faithfully restored the disrupted night sky under the dim light and along the river embankment. The telephoto lens captured the dark details of the reflection and weeping willow without obvious noise and severe smearing.

Huawei-Mate-20-28.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-29.jpg

Even in the nighttime environment, the macro performance is still not abnormal. The performance of the white and the blur effect are excellent, and even the whole picture has no noise.

Huawei-Mate-20-30.jpg

‘Night Mode’ is off

Huawei-Mate-20-31.jpg

‘Night Mode’ is on

Huawei-Mate-20-32.jpg

The features of the handheld night scene are finally fully matured on the Huawei Mate 20. Similar to GPU Turbo, the night scene mode is the exclusive algorithm developed by Huawei. We can call it ‘super HDR’. It is based on HDR and uses complex algorithms to synthesize multi-frame short exposure images and long exposure images. Thus, it’s optimized to achieve the above-mentioned shocking and natural effects.

Unexpectedly, the front-facing 24MP single lens also supports the brilliant light effect, correctly identifying the outline of the persons we take photos of.

Huawei Mate 20 Battery

The Huawei Mate 20 is equipped with a 4000mAh large-capacity battery. But we guess, it’s more important Huawei new software of EMUI 9.0, which can save a lot of power.

To test its endurance, first, we played a video online. The brightness was 70%, the volume was 50%, and the remaining power was 54%. After 60 minutes, the power dropped to 45%. Thus, the power consumption is 9%. So we can calculate that this handset can continuously play videos for 11 hours.

For the game test, we chose the PUBG. The remaining power was 98%. After 30 minutes of playing the mentioned game, it dropped to 91%. The power consumption is 7%. So there is every reason to think it can continuously play games for 7 hours.

Huawei-Mate-20-39.jpg

The phone comes with a standard 4.5V/5A (compatible 5V/4.5A) charger. It takes 97 minutes to fully charge the phone, which is extremely fast.

Huawei Mate 20 Experience
EMUI 9.0

The Huawei Mate 20 series run on the first official version of the EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9.0 deep customization.

Untitled-1-11-986x1024.jpg

EMUI 9.0 has achieved overall improvement and harmony in terms of UX and UI. It retains the ‘3D touch’ or ‘shortcut’ function that has been extended since the v. 8.0, providing very simple and efficient interaction.

The UX interface of EMUI 9.0 uses elements of forests and landscapes. This naturally introduced element has a pleasant immersion.

Huawei-Mate-20-42.jpg

In addition to the globally unified design, EMUI 9.0 on the Huawei Mate 20 also provides a new gesture navigation –

(1) Slide inward from the left/right edge of the screen to return to the previous level.

(2) Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to return to the desktop.

(3) Slide up and pause from the bottom edge of the screen to enter the most recent tasks.

(4) Slide from the left/right side of the bottom of the screen to call out the voice assistant and smart recognition.

This interaction is more simple and convenient.

AI

As we said earlier, the Huawei Mate 20 uses the Kirin 980 with a dual-core NPU unit, which is more powerful than the previous generation. Its power is a glimpse of the AI wisdom chess system. We have previously reported in detail that the AI Wisdom Chess System consists of three parts: Huawei Mate 20 series phone (equipped with the Kirin 980 artificial intelligence chip dual-core NPU to provide AI computing power) + AI Go APP (based on NPU developed Go AI APP to provide chess logic) + robotic arm (responsible for visual collaborative intelligent control).

Wherever the AI wisdom chess system goes, the robotic arm can be accurately placed between the chessboards. In the future, it can even compete with the world champions.

Huawei-Mate-20-43.jpg

Of course, the Kirin 980 can not only support the AI smart chess game system but also can be used for face recognition, object recognition, object detection, image segmentation, intelligent translation, and other AI usage scenarios. Say, when photographing the text, it will automatically switch to text mode, when photographing the flower, it will automatically switch to the flower mode, or when photographing the green plant, it will automatically switch to the green leaf mode.

By analogy, the corresponding mode is also automatically switched when shooting objects such as the sky, cars, and portraits. As we can see in the above pictures, AI can now capture and adjust the best focus position by itself, completely freeing your hands.

The Huawei Mate 20 also brings the ‘AI portrait retention’ feature. When recording a video, the lens can accurately identify the person and retain the color of the skin and clothing. The color of other objects becomes black and white. This color contrast is often used in movie special effects to highlight the character’s ‘aura’.

Huawei-Mate-20-1-524x1024.gif

The function of color retention requires the smartphone to monitor the position of the portrait in real time, and dynamically pull out the background and portrait while retaining the color of the clothing, rendering the background black and white. Thus, it puts a very high AI calculation on the phone.

Obviously, such an excellent performance is inseparable from the Kirin 980’s dual NPU computing power and the better algorithm that increases the recognition speed of the previous generation by up to 120%.

Wrap Up

So what we can say about the Huawei Mate 20 – it is a comprehensive and balanced Android flagship in configuration selection, software optimization, and innovation. Undoubtedly, in the same price segment, the Huawei Mate 20 has a destructive product force.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 Series is designed to be the best ‘mate’ of consumers, accompanying and empowering them to enjoy a richer, more fulfilled life with their higher intelligence, unparalleled battery lives and powerful camera performance,” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG.

Ultimate Performance and Battery Life

The SoC at the core of smartphones has a determining factor in a device’s performance and efficiency. Manufactured with the cutting-edge 7 nm technology process, the SoC fits 6.9 billion transistors within a die the size of a fingernail. Compared to Kirin 970, the latest chipset is equipped with CPU that is 75 percent more powerful, GPU that is 46 percent more powerful and NPU that is 226 percent more powerful. Furthermore, the efficiency of the components has also been elevated: the CPU is 58 percent more efficient, GPU is 178 percent more efficient, and the NPU is 182 percent more efficient. The Kirin 980 is the world’s first commercial SoC to use the Cortex-A76-based cores. Huawei has innovatively designed a three-tier architecture that consists of two ultra-large cores, two large cores and four small cores. This grants the CPU the flexibility to allocate the optimal amount of resources to heavy, medium and light tasks for unprecedented levels of efficiency, simultaneously improving the performance of the SoC while enhancing the battery life. The Kirin 980 is also the industry’s first SoC to be equipped with Dual-NPU, granting it higher On-Device AI processing capability to support any and all AI applications.

HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is the world’s first smartphone to support the 4.5G LTE Cat. 21 standard, allowing consumers to experience download speeds of up to 1.4 Gbps. It also supports the world’s fastest Wi-Fi connection speeds--2GB footage requires only 10 seconds to download. The top-end flagship also supports dual-band (L1 + L5) GPS positioning technology. The AI GPS Satellite Selection technology enhances the positioning accuracy across a wide range of scenarios.

Besides superb performance, the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series also features groundbreaking improvement on battery life. The HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro houses a large, high-density 4200 mAh battery, and supports 40 W HUAWEI SuperCharge, which gives the device 70 percent charge in 30 minutes. The safety of the technology is certified by TÜV Rheinland.

Moreover, HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro supports 15 W HUAWEI Wireless Quick Charge, the industry’s fastest wireless charging solution, and Wireless Reverse Charge, which enables the device to work as a power bank for selected electronic devices supporting wireless charging.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 X supports an ultra-large 5000 mAh battery, and is equipped with a revolutionary HUAWEI super cool system that uses a combination of graphene film and vapor chamber to deliver outstanding cooling performance. With the cooling system in place, the CPU and GPU embedded in HUAWEI Mate 20 X can remain at full throttle for an extended period of time and deliver the smoothest and most satisfying gaming experience to consumers. The HUAWEI super cool system also marks the first time graphene is utilized to cool smartphones.

Matrix Camera System

Building on the foundation of HUAWEI P20 Series’ camera system, Huawei augmented the HUAWEI Mate 20 with a powerful addition—16 mm Leica Ultra Wide Angle Lens. This wider perspective creates a sense of spaciousness and a three dimensional effect to the images. The new camera system also supports macro distance, which produces crisp images of objects that are placed as close as 2.5 cm from the lens. The added ultra-wide angle lens and macro support completes the feature set of the camera system, elevating it to a truly all-round camera that is ready to capture any and all action. The HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro is equipped with a 40 MP main camera, a 20 MP ultra wide-angle camera, and an 8 MP telephoto camera. Together, the trio of lenses supports a wide range of focal lengths (equivalent to the performance of a 16-270 mm zoom lens), enabling it to mimic the results from professional cameras.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 Series also features an AI Portrait Color video mode. Using AI, the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series can isolate human subjects and desaturate the colors around them to dramatically highlight the person. AI Spotlight Reel identifies clips with a shared theme and auto-generates a montage, made entirely of highlights.

HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro and PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS both support 3D Face Unlock. The solution quickly and securely authenticates users within 0.6s at a false acceptance rate of below 1/1000000. Using the 3D Depth Sensing Camera System located at the front, the two devices can accurately read the facial features of a subject and recognize even small details. Besides user authentication, this suite of sensors also enables the portrait beautification effects to be realized in a more natural and effective way.

EMUI 9 Enables a Quality Life

The HUAWEI Mate 20 Series comes with EMUI 9.0, a smart operating system based on Android P. Through AI self-learning algorithms, an integrated and granular resource allocation system, and a highly optimized Android environment, EMUI 9 delivers an “evergreen” experience—it remains smooth even through extended use.

EMUI 9.0 incorporates a unified, ergonomic design and a streamlined settings menu. The new gesture navigation support allows users to effortlessly interact with their devices using just taps and swipes. It also introduces new AI features that enable the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series to perform or enhance a range of tasks from object identification to food calorie counting12 . Using 3D Live Object Modeling, consumers can even create a fun digital avatar to dance or interact with.

As a key pillar supporting Huawei’s all-connected, all-scenario ecosystem, HUAWEI Share 3.0 delivers a revolutionary improvement in device interconnection, allowing users to transfer files between smartphones and PC. This is an innovative, Huawei-proprietary solution that enables device interconnectivity. It revolutionizes the way people transfer images and videos: all it takes is one tap to establish a connection between a smartphone and PC for easy and fast file sharing3 .

Futuristic Design

As an expression of the HUAWEI Mate Series DNA, all devices carry a FullView display with a high screen-to-body ratio. Compactly engineered, every device from the 6.39-inch HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro to the 7.2-inch HUAWEI Mate 20 X can be comfortably used with a single hand.

The grace of natural elements is captured on the design of the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series. In particular the HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro’s chassis is curved on all eight sides—a marvel to behold, and a pleasure to hold in the hand. For the PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS, Huawei and Porsche Design ingeniously combined race track elements with premium materials to create a device that exudes elegance and offers a firm, ergonomic grip.

The Matrix Camera array on the back of the HUAWEI Mate 20 Series features a four-point design with the three cameras and sensor encircled in a polished metal frame, producing an avant-garde look that is both bold and distinct. The flagship series comes in a new Emerald Green colorway, which is as brilliant as its namesake gemstone. The Hyper Optical Pattern on the glass back uses a complex hairline pattern to produce an iridescent effect that is not only highly durable, but also makes the device easy to grip and fingerprint resistant. The devices retain a clean look even when they have been used extensively.

The new HUAWEI Mate 20 Series, as well as HUAWEI WATCH GT, HUAWEI Band 3 Pro will go on sale in countries including the U.K., France, Italy and United Arab Emirates soon.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 (4 GB + 128 GB configuration) will have a MSRP of EUR799 and the HUAWEI Mate 20 (6 GB + 128 GB configuration) will have a MSRP of EUR849 from 16th October, 2018.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 Pro (6 GB + 128 GB configuration) will have a MSRP of EUR1049 from 16thOctober, 2018.

The HUAWEI Mate 20 X (6 GB + 128 GB configuration) will have a MSRP of EUR899 from 26thOctober, 2018.

The PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS (8 GB + 256 GB configuration) will have a MSRP of EUR1695, and the PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS (8 GB + 512 GB configuration) will have a MSRP of EUR2095 from 16th November, 2018.

Embodying exquisite design, powerful performance, extraordinary capturing capabilities and next-generation intelligence, the new HUAWEI Mate 20 Series is the partner of choice for professionals pursuing quality of life.

Wow, what High Intelligent, in a non mentally challenge kind of way

First of all, LCD TV and LCD SCREEN are two different thing, and LED TV and LED SCREEN are two different thing.

EVERY DIGITAL PANEL TV, I MEAN EVERY, have a LCD screen on it, it does not matter if that is a LCD or LED. However, what separate LCD and LED TV is the projection method. One is using polarizing screen backlit to light up the LCD screen, while the other uses LED backlit to light up the LCD screen. Just because both LCD and LED TV have LCD Screen, that does NOT mean every TV can be called a LCD TV.

And we are talking about LCD and LED projection production, not LCD and LED panel production. People who have "High Intelligence" cannot distinguish the different.

And even that "high intelligence" display of yours about LED and LCD TV, you still IGNORE the fact that Oct 16 is NOT the release day for Mate 20 in MOST Part of the world, I don't really care about Mate 20, so I don't care about when it will hit the store, but fact remain, today is Oct 31, 2018, and I cannot buy a Mate 20 in any major retailer in Australia. Which render your bullshit, WRONG

So, basically, you use an irrelevant argument, even for that sake, if I was wrong in that argument, to support your factually untruth argument, wow, you must be so very clever.

Don't worry, even when two button clicks to filter all the LCD TV labeled TVs in an online shop are still so much over your head it makes you start rejecting objective reality and mutter random deflecting nonsense and Wikipedia trivia again and it appears like an impossible challenge to get your hands on a Mate 20 from your point of view, you can start counting the hours until even the most unsavvy layman in your corner of the world can just buy it right off the shelf at his local retailer in the traditional way.

I hope all the post launch hands on reviews from earlier this fall could satisfy your unending interest for the Mate 20. Don't forget to say thank you to Mr. @TaiShang for his help.

Well, again, I couldn't give 2 hoots on a Mate 20 Pro, number 1, I already had a new phone, number 2, Why would I still buy 4G phone when I can get 5G next year, number 3, if I were to get the latest 7nm Processor, why would I pay 1599 for a Mate 20 Pro, I would just go for iPhone XS or if money is an issue, iPhone XR, which is cheaper than both Mate 20 Pro and iPhone XS, mind you iPhone XS/XR is THE FIRST 7nm phone, not Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Now, thank me for "Correcting" you Chinese wannabe about this information

And as usual, you have no answer to my point (even with the LCD/LED TV), well, but that figure, because who am I arguing? "Mr High Intelligence Chinese Wannabe" lol

Huawei Mate 20 X Unique Review: 9 Selling Points

Shortly after the overseas press conference, Huawei held a new product launch conference in China, bringing the world-famous Huawei Mate 20 series products to the domestic market. After experiencing the Huawei Mate 20 X for a while, we found that it has nine highlights. So it’s incomprehensible how other flagships will compete with it.

This handset comes with a monster-size 7.2-inch screen, which makes it an amazing hub for entertainment. But this is not the only selling point of the Huawei Mate 20 X, as it also comes with a triple-camera, a 7nm Kirin 980 chip, a 5000mAh battery, and so on. So there is every reason to think the company wants to start a new line of large-screen smartphones that can bury the regular 8-inch tablets market.

Selling Point 1: Huawei Mate 20 X Display
The first thing you will feel when looking at the Huawei Mate X is its hugeness. When put next to other Mate 20 series models, it stands out.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-34-1024x575.jpg

When it comes to the numbers and parameters, the Huawei Mate 20 X is packed with a 7.2-inch OLED pearl full-screen with a resolution of 2244×1080. On the one hand, the border of the Huawei Mate 20 X is extremely narrow. On the one hand, the large screen and the frame form a poor visual effect. To evaluate its size visually just look at the photo below that compares the iPhone XS Max with the Huawei Mate 20 X.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-1.jpg

Although the iPhone XS Max sports a large screen of 6.5inches, it looks quite small when put next to the Mate 20 X mainly because the Huawei Mate 20 X has a narrower border and a larger screen ratio.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-2.jpg

When the Huawei Mate 20 X is placed next to a 9.4-inch tablet, we have a feeling that our protagonist is a technological product coming from the future. Honestly, we have such a feeling because the Mate 20 X has narrower frames. But what’s more important these narrow border give a unique advantage when playing games compared to traditional tablets. As the border does not occupy too much space, Huawei Mate 20 X has better controllability.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-3.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-X-5.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-X-4.jpg

Selling Point 2: Huawei Mate 20 X Body
On the Huawei Mate 20 X, we can still smell the thick ‘Mate breath’.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-6.jpg

The iconic element of the Huawei Mate 20 X’s rear case is the ‘matrix lens’ – the Leica triple-camera and the flash are arranged in a square shape.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-7.jpg

According to Huawei, the ‘matrix lens’ is inspired by the four-eye car lights of the Porsche 919. Today, in the era of vertically arranged dual-camera, Huawei brings us a different design, which shows Huawei’s ultimate pursuit in design.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-9.jpg

Due to the large size of the fuselage, the rear cover of the Huawei Mate 20 X adopts a large arc design. When holding with one hand, the curvature of the whole body is extremely close to the palm, and the grip is full.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-8.jpg

The back cover of the fuselage simply covers a smooth glass. The Huawei Mate 20 X sapphire blue color glass back shell adopts a new micro-scale yellow light etching process, which passes through the multilayer optical structure and the micro-filter crystal. This combination brings a texture of 40-micron depth, which is not only excellent but also has an anti-fingerprint oil.

Selling Point 3: Huawei Mate 20 X Interfaces

The frame of the Huawei Mate 20 X is the same as that of ordinary smartphones. It is made of metal. The left frame carries a SIM card slot. The right border comes with the volume rocker and power button.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-11.jpg

The USB Type-C interface is used at the bottom of the fuselage for faster charging. The Huawei Mate 20 X still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the fuselage, which is quite user-friendly.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-10.jpg

Selling Point 4: Huawei Mate 20 X Performance

More importantly, the Huawei Mate 20 X is equipped with the first batch of 7nm process chip of Kirin 980. The 7nm process technology also focuses on the powerful performance and long battery life. At the same time, the dual-core NPU design makes the phone greatly improve AI performance.

In an actual test, the Huawei Mate 20 X can get 308,856 points in AnTuTu, while in GeekBench single-core test, it scores 3328 points and 9602 points in the multi-core test. The 3D Mark reaches 35,003 points. From the point of view of running data, the performance of the Huawei Mate 20 X belongs to the first echelon of current smartphones.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-12.jpg

Of course, high test scores don’t necessarily mean that you have a strong ability to deal with things. So what is the performance of the Huawei Mate 20 X when running the game?

Huawei-Mate-20-X-13.jpg

In this regard, we chose Honor of Kings and turned on the high frame rate mode. The actual experience of the phone shows it can always maintain a frame rate of 60fps.

Selling Point 5: Huawei Mate 20 X Heat Dissipation

In addition to its impressive performance, the Huawei Mate 20 X also has a graphene liquid-cooled cooling system. Actually, it incorporates a combination of graphene material + VC liquid cold plate into the phone, which can quickly conduct heat and run for a long time.

In order to test the thermal performance of the Huawei Mate 20 X, we continued playing the Honor of Kings for another hour and then record the temperature data.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-14.jpg

After one hour of high-intensity operation of the game, the highest temperature of the front panel is 41° C and the highest temperature on the back is 43.8° C. The hand feels only some warmness, and the running game does not appear framed.

.
Selling Point 6: Huawei Mate 20 X Camera

Starting from the Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei uses the Leica triple-camera design in some of its top-notch models. If you remember, this handset still leads the DXoMark least. Moreover, at the press conference, Huawei said it would not announce the DXoMark scores of the Huawei Mate 20 series, because they are too high, and the company is afraid of hitting friends.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-15.jpg

When it comes to Huawei Mate 20 X, the phone sports a new matrix multi-focus image system based on Huawei’s P20 Pro Leica triple-camera system, adding a super wide-angle lens.

At the software level, the Huawei Mate 20 X lens adds more scene recognition, more powerful tuning effects, and stronger image recognition capabilities based on the first-generation AI algorithm. So even people who are not good in photographing can shoot ‘big movies’ through the Huawei Mate 20 X.

In order to more intuitively see the tendency of the Huawei Mate 20 X of taking pictures, we choose the popular iPhone XR as a sparring partner.

During the day, the contrast of the Huawei Mate 20 X is stronger. So the photos look more three-dimensional. In the complex light environment of the room, the color reproduction of the Huawei Mate 20 X is very accurate. It can accurately display the bright red and green color of Apple. In contrast, the fruit shot by the iPhone XR is like ‘the eggplant that is frosted’.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-16.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-X-18.jpg
Huawei-Mate-20-X-20.jpg
In a low light environment, the Huawei Mate 20 X can take care of the exposure of the dark and the bright parts at the same time due to the night vision feature. The iPhone XR comes with dead black details, affecting the look and feel of the photo.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-22.jpg

Selling Point 7: Huawei Mate 20 X Super Wide-Angle Mode

As mentioned above, the Huawei Mate 20 X adds a super wide-angle lens that can bring a ‘super wide + super micro’ photo experience. Therefore, we can easily take large-scale photos identical to that taken by the professional SLRs cameras.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-24.jpg

Normal focal length
Huawei-Mate-20-X-25.jpg

Super wide-angle lens

Through the comparison of the Huawei Mate 20 X normal focal length and wide-angle photos, it can be found that the super wide-angle lens of the phone is quite shocking.

It is worth noting that the Huawei Mate 20 X also supports triple optical zoom and five times hybrid zoom, which can be used to capture the beauty that is invisible to the naked eye.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-26.jpg

3x optical zoom
Huawei-Mate-20-X-27.jpg

5x hybrid zoom

From the proofs, the Huawei Mate 20 X can clearly display the distant scenery, whether it is triple optical zoom or the five times hybrid zoom. At the same time, the picture still retains very rich details, and the photos with normal focal length are exposed. There are no obvious differences in color.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-28.jpg

Multi-focus section

In addition to the super wide angle, Huawei Mate 20 X can also take macro shots with a focal length of 2.5cm. A close look at the macro proofs of the Huawei Mate 20 X reveals that the macro details are amazing.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-29.jpg

Selling Point 8: EMUI 9.0

The Huawei Mate 20 X runs on EMUI 9.0 system based on Android 9.0 deep customization. The biggest change of the EMUI 9.0 system is the colorful UI. It bids farewell to the color of the ‘dark black’ in the past, and instead uses a lively light color, which is very eye-catching.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-33.jpg

Due to the use of a too large screen, the first consideration for Huawei Mate 20 X is the interaction of software. Specifically, the Huawei Mate 20 X abandoned the traditional Android three capacitive buttons, and instead, used gesture sliding interaction – swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go directly back to the home page, slide up and pause to call out multitasking, swipe from the left and right borders in to return.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-1.gif

One of the most annoying things about fitness people is that they don’t know what’s going on in the end. In response to this problem, the Huawei Mate 20 X has added AI calorie recognition function. We only need to take the food we want to eat through Huawei Mate 20 X. Then, we can directly display the calories of the current food.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-30.jpg

Continues below

Selling Point 9: Huawei Mate 20 X Battery

The Huawei Mate 20 X is equipped with a 5000mAh battery. We conducted a five-hour heavy battery life test. As you can see, after it, the phone still remains 58% of power. This battery life is enough to make the Huawei Mate 20 X stand out in the phone camp.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-31.jpg

Another hidden danger of the big battery is that it is slow to charge. Fortunately, the Huawei Mate 20 X supports 4.5V/5A (22.5W) Super Charge. In 30 minutes, it charges up to 49%. In other words, the phone fully charges a 2500mAh battery in half an hour. Just saying, the iPhone XS battery capacity is 2658mAh.

Huawei-Mate-20-X-32.jpg

Conclusion

The Huawei Mate 20 X review shows this handset sports an ultimate industrial design, powerful camera, large battery, and humanized interaction. It can be said that we are dealing with a ‘bucket machine’, which has no obvious changes.

In addition, the Huawei Mate 20 X did not expand the screen arbitrarily. Instead, on the basis of hardware and software synergy, the Huawei Mate 20 X’s large screen has gained a revolutionary experience. In this sense, it’s quite a new model in the smartphone market.

If you are looking for an entertainment hub that is sufficiently worry-free and powerful enough, there is no doubt that the Huawei Mate 20 X is your best choice.

I hope all the post launch hands on reviews from earlier this fall could satisfy your unending interest for the Mate 20. Don't forget to say thank you to Mr. @TaiShang for his help.

Huawei iLab Releases a White Paper to Help Move Medical Images to the Cloud

Oct 30, 2018

[Shenzhen, China, October 30, 2018] Huawei iLab has officially released its Medical Imaging Cloud Scenario White Paper. Using the current status of the healthcare industry and the service characteristics of medical images as a basis, the White Paper analyzes and identifies five application scenarios that are most closely related to operators, have the most commercial potential, and are most likely to be implemented: cloud image storage, imaging cloud application, cloud-based medical collaboration, cloud-based medical education, and cloud-based health management. This information can then be used by operators to develop the medical imaging cloud market.

As medical imaging technologies continue to develop, the amount of image data being generated has grown enormously, a fact that now poses higher requirements on the data storage and processing capabilities of medical IT systems. A traditional picture archiving and communication system (PACS) cannot read or share data sufficiently, and as a result, it is difficult to obtain the full application value of historical medical images. In the interim, China's National Health Commission (NHC) has proposed establishing a medical union and a regional healthcare system that promote collaborating over and sharing medical image data. Platform- and cloud-based medical image data is therefore becoming a trend of the industry. Operators can construct medical imaging clouds and connect them with information systems at medical institutions using cloud computing and Internet technologies, storing and sharing medical images on the cloud.

By carrying out in-depth research into the features of medical image services, user experience requirements, and the overall business value, Huawei iLab has been able to identify for operators the most commercial application scenarios.

Scenario 1: Cloud image storage

It implements the storage and interaction of large amounts of image data for medical institutions, and helps to achieve multi-level disaster recovery and backup. This in turn ensures that medical institutions can provide services continuously and stably in the event of a natural disaster, hard disk fault, hack, or human damage. This scenario is suitable for operators expanding their B2B cloud storage services.

Scenario 2: Imaging cloud application

The PACS is cloudified, and image data can be exchanged between multiple medical institutions. Images can also be read on the cloud. Cloud image processing functions, such as image comparison, image fusion display, and 3D reconstruction, help doctors find and diagnose causes of diseases quickly and accurately, improving the overall efficiency of diagnoses. Mobile imaging clouds are also supported, which enables doctors and patients to view images and diagnosis reports anytime and anywhere, and facilitates communication between doctors and patients. This scenario is suitable for operators promoting their B2B cloud-based PACS and mobile image reading services.

Scenario 3: Cloud-based medical collaboration

Building regional imaging cloud centers and remote imaging consultation centers helps to implement the centralized storage and sharing of image data for the medical institutions in a specified region. This also serves to optimize the distribution of healthcare resources and improves the quality and efficiency of healthcare services, thereby facilitating the implementation of a hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system. This scenario is suitable for operators providing remote B2B imaging and consultation services for medical unions.

Scenario 4: Cloud-based medical education

Based on the medical imaging cloud platform, this implements functions such as online image lessons, live surgical demonstrations, VR/AR/MR virtual imaging lessons, and online image discussions. These functions are highly interactive. They overcome geographical constraints, make the distribution of quality medical education resources more balanced, and help to economize Chinese Government's investment in medical education. This scenario is suitable for operators providing B2B cloud image lessons and B2C live surgery broadcasts.

Scenario 5: Cloud-based health management

This implements a number of cloud services, including chronic disease and inspection data management. It provides online health consultations, online guidance, scheduled referrals, follow-ups, and extended prescription services. This saves patients' time, reduces pressure on medical institutions, and allows people to consult on and manage their health more quickly and efficiently. This scenario is suitable for operators providing 2C online health consultation services.

Huawei iLab believes that with support from government policies and the development of cloud computing and Internet technologies, medical institutions are accelerating the deployment of medical imaging clouds. It also notes that more and more operators are stepping into the field of medical imaging clouds. With good network infrastructure, cloud-based data centers, and powerful O&M support, operators can join forces with ecosystem partners and build a holistic medical imaging cloud solution – one that significantly improves the efficiency and quality of healthcare collaboration and provides better services for doctors, patients, and medical institutions alike. In this regard, Huawei is keen to work with operators on accelerating the cloud transformation of the healthcare industry and expanding the industry's market space.
