Huawei P20 (899Euros) Released: 40 MP RGB camera, AI-driven photography system, and 4000 mAh battery

Huawei P20 Pro smokes just about any high end phone out there. Looks, specs, battery life and cameras. It is a complete package.

The only other phone that I praise highly is the Google Pixel 2 XL due stock Android experience.
I don't like the UI of Huawei, could be because I am more familiar with Samsung and iPhone devices... but as I said the camera is as great as any good digital camera, in some conditions similar to DSLR camera. No phone comes close to it if you compare the portrait mode of this camera however you have to turn the beauty mode off in order to realise its beauty and video is comparable to other mobile devices

Huawei Mate 20 Scores A Whopping 356918 Points On AnTuTu

APRIL 10, 2018

According to an AnTuTu listing, the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 scores 356918 points, which is an all-time record.

If we compare this score to the latest smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S9 has scored 241470 points and the Apple iPhone X has scored 226,000 points. In fact, the Huawei Mate 20 is the first smartphone to reach the 300,000 mark on the AnTuTu Benchmarking Platform.

Thanks to the Hisilicon Kirin 980 Octa-core chipset, which is based on ARM Cortex-A75 cores. Similarly, this could be the first chipset based on 7nm FinFET architecture. This might offer great thermal efficiency and faster processing power. This processor will be manufactured by TSMC with 2nd Gen Neural Processing Unit (NPU). The listing also confirms that the Kirin 980 chipset will support Bluetooth 5.0.

The launch of the Huawei Mate 20 is at least 6 months away. However, on paper, the performance of the smartphone is very promising and this smartphone could be the most powerful smartphone ever (period).

The Huawei Mate 20 might borrow some of the design elements from the Huawei P20 and the P20 Pro. The smartphone might have the same triple camera setup, similar to the one found on the P20 Pro

I can start a test and put in arbitrary number and does that make it authority?

How about I said I tested Samsung S9+ and it got 4,000,000 point, there, it broke the record.

And in case you wonder. First of all Kirin 980 is NOT YET IN PRODUCTION, how do they get a CPU to benchmark it 2 months ago and before it even went into production is beyond me (Kirin 980 is "RUMORED" to be produced in this quarter), maybe the Antutu guys are alien from the future? I have no idea

Second of all, there are no Mate 20. That's either Mate 10 or P20 Pro.

So now, all I am going to say is...............MORE EMOJI

well, you give us a screen shot for something that has not even materialise yet, looks like you are the one that gone over the edge, of course I will not delete or edit my post, you may want to.

TMSC has just made an announcement on their 7nm FINFET this January and expected to reach production level in Q2 2018, how and where Antutu get a 7nm SOC Kirin 980 Mate 20 to benchmark?

LOL.

It does not take a genius to figure out either that ranking is stupid, or it's simply fake. Any sort of diversion to the truth is futile lol. If I were you, I will go back and delete that post talking about 7nm SOC Mate 20 scoreing 350,000 point, because it is just plain, what's the word? Yeah, stupid.

How do you bench something that does not exist? Can anyone in Antutu tell me what is the benching score of Samsung S10+ and Apple IPhone XI?

And no it is impossible to have it coming in fall 2018 as industry wide report in April 2018 stating the earliest 7nm Chips is going to release next year in Q1 2019. And also, if they were to release mate 20 this fall, which make the 10 months old Mate 10 obsolete, even the stupidest company with the stupidest marketing strategy would not shoot themselves in the foot like this....

To begin with, every major SOC vendor stated the EARLIEST availability of their 7NM SoC is on Q1 2019. That's both Samsung and TMSC. So how exactly Aututu have the ability to bench a phone (Mate 20) with a Kirin 980 processor this February (Feb 2018) when the Chips that they were supposed to test will be deliver to Huawei at Q1 2019 the earliest? That YOU HAD NOT ANSWER ME AT ALL

Second of all, Autumn in America is considered to be the month of September, October and November until the end of thanksgiving. Every American considered it is the start of winter after the Thanksgiving dinner. Or are you meant to tell me American believe the start of winter is 2 days before Christmas? I am an American, and you need to try harder.

To me, Mate 10 is available on Nov 3 2017, If you call the early autumn, it is still 10 months, and even if you call late autumn, it's still 12 months, and again, nobody is stupid enough to shoot themselves on the foot like this.

@jhungary It's ok to cry, just let it all out.

Sorry, I can't stop crying.

Its SO FREAKING FUNNY WHAT YOU LOT SAID, I laugh at you lot and started crying, I believe little pee comes out too..

You never been in production industry before? Before any part is mass produce, they have sample part which is a test bed for the engineers to play with and improve before the mass production. So I wouldn't be surprise a leaker got a hand on it and to have Antutu benchmark. Going by the Huawei annual introduction of Mate series, they will introduce the Mate 20 that will come with new socket CPU this year. Otherwise they break the traditional rule to release in 2019 Q1 which is typically for the P Series. So yes, if they release 7nm socket this year 2018, it will be the world first.

Rumors are that it is already in mass production this quarter, and the site that spread the rumor is very legit. They predict socket detail very accurately in the last Kirin 970.

You mean Engineering Sample for Dev kits?

If you know anything about the "industry" at all, all dev kit are kept confidential, and most of them got destroyed after compatibility testing was done. Every company have to sign a NDS to protect the secrecy of the content. So for example, TMSC 7nm ES chips will not be known to Samsung.

Leaking ES detail is very bad for a company, so, in this case, if indeed that "Mate 20" phones was actually being done with a Dev Kit and was benched and publicize the score, TMSC basically can sue Huawei for violating the agreement, range from breaking the contract of supplying 7nm chips to Huawei (that is a given) to ask for a major financial compensation, because now, "IF THIS MATE 20 BENCHMARK IS INDEED TRUE" Samsung will know how and what TMSC 7nm SoC Perform.

So for Huawei sake, yo better hope this is not a leak, otherwise this would be a big trouble for Huawei for violating NDS like that. For starter, they would have their supply of 7nm chip stop by TMSC, meaning there will NEVER be a Kirin 980 SoC

Also, given TMSC only announce they have started risk production in Dec 2017, I don't think they have any dev kit out for major equipment provider. ES Dev kit usually were the first batch of mass produce chips and given to vendor prior to release, seeing the release is due Q1 2019, and mass production is due at Q2 2018, logic would suggest the ES Dev Kit will only be available somewhere between Q2 2018 to Q1 2019. But the bench mark was done in Feb 2018 (Which is Q1 2018) where 7nm SoC Yet to start mass production.

HUAWEI P20 PRO REVIEW: STYLE AND SUBSTANCE

If you’ve been waiting for a phone that can upset the Apple-Samsung duopoly, this is it

By Vlad Savov@vladsavov Apr 6, 2018

I’ve spent every waking moment of the past 10 days in the company of the Huawei P20 Pro. This phone has surprised and delighted me like few others, and what you are about to read is a collection of happy words about it. I don’t think the P20 Pro is perfect, nor the best phone ever released, but I do believe it’s one of the most important devices we’ve seen in the mobile world for years.

In spite of its massive networking and telecommunications business, and the millions of phones it sells in its native China, Huawei has remained an underdog in other smartphone markets. The P20 Pro changes that. This phone is as powerful, refined, fast, stylish, and desirable as anything we’ve seen from Samsung, LG, and HTC at their best. At a time when US spy agencies are warning Americans off Huawei phones due to (so far unsubstantiated) espionage fears, Huawei is responding in the best possible way: by making amazing phones.

Huawei is releasing the P20 Pro today for a price of €899 in Europe with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. That places it in direct confrontation with Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and Apple’s iPhone X. And the remarkable thing is how well Huawei’s phone competes in that rarified class of super flagships.

Huawei P20 Pro review: The Galaxy S9 killer

BY NIRAVE GONDHIA

40MP, the world’s first triple camera, 5X Hybrid Zoom, artificial intelligence in all the ways, and the most unique color on any smartphone ever. These are just some of the features Huawei is hoping will make you check out its new flagship, the Huawei P20 Pro.

This isn’t the first 40MP smartphone — Nokia had the 808 PureView and Lumia 1020 in 2012 and 2013, respectively — but this is the first time we’ve seen such numbers on an Android smartphone. We crowned last year’s Huawei flagship Mate 10 Pro as the best smartphone of 2017, but does the Huawei P20 Pro pick up where its sibling left off?

With the standards set by smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and Google Pixel 2 XL, Huawei has a fight on its hands. Let’s find out how it stacks up in our full Huawei P20 Pro review.

Huawei P20 Series To Exceed 20 Million Sales This Year

By Argam Artashyan -

April 12, 2018

Today, Huawei held a conference in Shanghai and officially released three new smartphones for the domestic market. They include the Huawei P20, Huawei P20 Pro, and the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design. The Huawei P20 6+64GB is priced at 3788 yuan, the 6+128GB at 4288 yuan, the P20 Pro 6+64GB at 4988 yuan, the 6+128GB at 5488 yuan, the 6+256GB at 3288 yuan, while the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design 6+256GB at 9999 yuan, and the higher variant with the 6+512GB memory combination at 12999 yuan. Initially, these phones have been announced in France, but because of the pricing strategy of the company, they are way cheaper in China:tup:. This especially refers to the Porsche Design. After the meeting, Yu Chengdong was interviewed and talked about the target sales of the P20 series, the DxOMark score, and his views on the future of mobile phones.

Buy Huawei phones at b2b.gizchina.com!

Particularly, he said they hope the Huawei P20 series handset will show 15 or 20 million units in 2018. He added, they every year, Huawei invests in research and development 10 times more than their domestic counterparts. So this strategy should bring more benefit in the future. Actually, many market research companies have predicted the smartphone market will decrease in coming years due to the lack of revolutionary innovations. Moreover, a lot of people haven’t used Huawei phones, and most likely they wouldn’t like to switch to other brands. That’s why Huawei has to expand its user base through brand marketing. Yu Chengdong also revealed that Huawei will have a ‘very scary’:o: technological breakthrough this year. It is reported this technology can greatly enhance the performance of the previously released mobile phones. Most likely, it is related to the software optimization.

In the rating of DxOMark, the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro are the world’s first and second, respectively. The P20 Pro’s comprehensive score is as high as 109 points, including 114 points for photo and 98 points for video. The P20 has scored 102 points in total, 107 points for the photo, and 94 points for video. But what’s more amazing, it outruns the Samsung Galaxy S9+ and the iPhone X.

Samsung S9 pre-order sale figure vs Huawei P20 First day opening sale figure

According to Yonhap, Samsung S9 shipped 180,000 hand set on the first day order on March 12 (or 11 if you are in EU/US timezone) Which represent $161 millions USD sale on the first day. Slower than the former flagship phone of Samsung S8 which have 260,000 unit ship the first day

http://www.androidbeat.com/2018/03/...sales-slower-than-galaxy-s8-launch-day-korea/

Again, all number quote above are pre-order figure, figure did not include the rest of the first day of sale.

According to Huawei, the P20 opening with 100 million Yuan sale (or 15 millions USD) for an unspecified amount of phone. However, you can roughly clear that P20 cost around $860 while P20 pro roughly $1140, so the mean average per phone is about $1000. Which translated to roughly 15,000 unit.
