What's new

Huawei has run out of chipsets for its smartphones

lol, CCP does not even know the meaning of noble.

China does not act on rare earth because it knows it can't.
Every country has rare earth, they just need to process it. But since China was doing it for cheap, no need.
If China acts tough on rare earth, the other countries will simply start processing their own.

Exactly. It is a question of capabilities not intentions really. It is not that China has never used trade dependency as a political weapon when it feels necessary and viable. Australia is a case in point.

Since you are in China, behind the CCP firewall and not allowed access to US websites or services, you have nothing to fear.
CCP however, has your ID number for EVERY SINGLE THING you post online... except on PDF... which you are illegally using a VPN to access.
Samely your worries about CCP's spy look stupid because CCP is much harmless for you non-Chinese compared to US government.

There is a significant difference where China uses economic sanctions in retaliation to hostile action while the US use these tools to dictate others policies across the board. The difference is not lost on most nations.

I think both use sanctions or economic pressure to achieve desired strategic end. One's excuse is not necessarily more legitimate than the other's. What China may think of benign action could be seen as hostile by the US, and vice versa.

I see many nations simply reposition themselves.

The 1990s have called mikey. They want their “only white man can make magical technology “ ideology back

Technology is not magic….. its purely a numbers game.

The western countries looted and genocided the rest of the earth to build up their wealth levels and maintain a monopoly on RD development. By poaching the best minds of the earth

Those trends are over my friend.

West has overplayed its hand. Nobody wants to be dependent on them anymore.

Technology or finances. Even western allied countries were absolutely shocked and horrified when they saw how lawless the western system is when they blatantly tried to steal russias money
Whats to stop them stealing their money in the future? Is what arab and asian allied countries to the west are thinking. There is no system or rules, just the whims of western think tanks and lobbysts pullingtheir “politcians” strings

Say goodbye to western financial/ technologicL dominance. The western edge is eroding by the day. You can live off looted wealth for only so long my delusional friend
what does this Ayatollah rant have to do with Chinese company running short of smart chipsets?

if you are complaining about West controlling all doors to modern technology and not letting its rivals learn and challenge it then yes this complaint is warranted. it should allow China and other adversaries gain the knowledge and then hurt its interests.

I’ve got a Huawei phone for work. It’s one of the best phones I’ve ever owned.
no doubt the technology is very good. the problem is that China cant do every single thing in house.
the Americans have seen and sensed the genuine competition and will use everything to block or stop the Chinese advancement.
even delaying the Chinese progress by harassing the suppliers and blacklisting Chinese companies is good enough.
China may eventually find a work around through inhouse solutions or some suppliers that are imune to American sanctions and bullying but there is a time cost to that.

Seriously dont get the point you are trying to make. Seems like just a rant against the West with no substance to be honest..doesn't change reality though.
the point is West is a jealous and selfish adversary and not ignoring Chinese advancement any longer and doesn't want to share the top slot.

The US has sanctioned over 20 countries. Have all these countries conducted hostile actions against the US? I see majority of countries rather than lining up in one bloc or the other, seek a balanced relationship instead.

So, it as about capabilities. Countries or blocs will resort to it for certain ends. Such as the Arab oil embargo.

The balance keeps changing. For instance, Vietnam and India are distancing themselves from Russian arms dependency. Russia is trying to distance itself from European market dependency by launching pipelines with China.

It is a sad thing for lay people like us, because we like to enjoy a globalized, open world.

If it's all about capability, then EU would not have sanctioned Russia oil & gas seeing how they backfired. In desperate attempt to hold onto its position as the global hegemony, US is throwing its allies under the bus.

EU is sanctioning Russia out of principle of non-violability of sovereignty. Also, apparently, they have calculated well, through step by step sanctions. They do, because they have capability to do so. Also, reducing reliance on Russian energy has been a theme for a decade or longer. Russian invasion simply have the required excuse and ensured majority support.

I do not see US throwing allies under the bus. For one, Europe, too, has an ideological basis, which coincides better with that of the US. Second, the EU, too benefits from the Atlantic alliance since a large portion of the burden falls on the US. If not so, US would not have repeatedly asked the EU (much as Japan and Korea) to increase their share of defense spending.

Seriously? Remember Kosovo? Since when does EU care about sovereignty.

That's a thorny issue, indeed. Even within the EU and the NATO some members do not recognize it as sovereign.

Nevertheless, eventually, it was a civil war. Quite different from Ukraine.

The position of some European countries to the Syrian civil war was also questionable.

Still, none of the above vindicates Russia's invasion of a sovereign nation which has more than proven their desire to remain free in the past 10 months.

This should set a goof.example to others that using and relying on US technology while being a US adversary/rival and against US interests is a road to nowhere from now on.....US still controls most of the worlds top end technology and its influnce is felt around the globe..so if you want to go against the US netter develop all your own technology yourself(thats if you can) . Huawei case should set a good example to others.

It will eventually turn out that -- US tech companies will go bankrupt very soon once Huawei and China develop alternatives.

I am going to bet on bankruptcy of US big tech. Over the years, US college are increasingly taking in lazy pig on the name of diversity, and shutting the door on the brightest students.

The pretext of Russian invasion mirrored the same one used by NATO in the Kosovo war. It was never about sovereignty, but rather both were fought over NATO eastward expansion, one to enforce the expansion, the other trying to halt it.

Why do you think China fought the Korean War? With NATO on its boarder, the ability of Russia to remain free will be in serious question.
