In fact it was the difficulty in her repayment of USD12.7 billion loans owing to EU banks that make Sri Lanka Government to propose leasing Hambantota Port to China.
Debt repayment of Hambantota port constitutes less than 5% of Sri Lanka annual service repayment.
Is that a crime? Sri Lanka have a property they wanted to lease to China and when China agree, they entrapped her or you would rather Sri Lanka default and gets downgrade in her rating by Fiinch or Moody.
Sri Lanka owes China USS1.12 billion that was contra with the lease of the port with another additional 200 million payment made by the Chinese side.

Do some research before you make silly comment. In fact this is a private project involving Hong Kong businessmen and the Sri Lanka government.
China EXIM bank was the only link to China involvement and why not? A bank main function is to lend money.
The port was build over a swamp land that is partially covered by the sea, dude.
That is why when the opposition leader who won the election wanted to hand this project to India. One look at the land and the project they ran away.
There was no taker. None except for the Hong Kong group.

There are plenty of other countries which are opting for Huawei and ZTE equipment. Pakistan is also in process of issuing 5G licence and i am sure Huawei would win the bids of equipment with ease due to low price. I would be more concerned with US and EU using back doors in their equipment.
