How will we run bullet trains safely?

No need to worry, it's partially in Gujarat & Maharashtra. Both the state are best available place to start this big project. If they can't handle it no state can handle project of this size.

Also the population living in these areas is not that backward, the line will pass through Surat, Bharuch, Ankleshwar, Vadodara and Ahmedabad and this cities are developed so no major problem from locals. The only problem is land acquisition in Maharashtra and some tribal region in Gujarat.

We're talking about high speed rail, How would that be practically feasible ?

The operational costs alone for the phsyical patrolling is going to make the project infeasible. Trip and proximity sensors combination can work though - i am not sure how they are implemented in other countries

I am sorry but i respectfully disagree. While Mah-Guj are the premier states in India, the civic sense is still a far cry from what it should be. I wont sleep peacefully trusting the villagers not to drive their oxen or a tractor for that matter across an unfenced stretch of tracks.

The oxen and tractors will have proper tunnels or may be bridge for their movement, the railway should educate people in this region.

Make over bridges for the railway platforms in countryside population centres.

how do the people putting this project together imagine they will tackle what we are discussing? I need to know because I cannot sleep (and the thing is interfering with my hangovers).
Oh cut the crap!
Aakar Patel is fear mongering.
Such projects are usually long term projects with huge investments- in this case $12 billion. Ergo safety will be their first concern. I trust the authorities behind this project.
I am assuming concrete walls will be erected and pedestrian bridges at regular intervals will be provided.
Now imagine a train trip which takes half the amount of time, with double the luxury. Bullet train will be a welcome change in india.

@Spectre i am dilettante when it comes to such topics. :)
