This is a case of spying government meetings secretly, recording high military meetings and exposing Turkey's secret affairs to international media. FETO and its press tried to depict Turkey as an ISIS-supporter state (TIR and IHH operations) and this trial successfully worked in international area. Because of that we couldn't act against YPG/PKK invasion in North Syria! (More than that we had to help terrorists against ISIS in Kobane protests!)

Erdogan as the cunning politician he is took huge advantage of Feto. But upon realizing their weblike huge influence and meddling in all of our state apparatus, with foreign backings, he was warned by MIT Hakan Fidan. If you ask me, the difference between Feto and Erdogan is straightforward. Erdogan has backbone, no matter how much people despise him, and he isn't afraid to say no to the US nor the EU, he knows how to bargain, how to accumulate power and how to play the cards rightly. FETO's survival on the other hand hinges on American support, thus there are some lines they can't cross.
We are on a critical juncture with the West, and our independence is at stake. Either we continue acting as the poor dog of United States or we man up and stand up for our national interest, the latter will gain more respect worldwide, including the West

I think many people, including plenty of Turks, are apprehensive of increasing authoritarianism that has been promoted by President Erdogan. I am as well and if I were a Turk, I would probably support the Republican People's Party over the APK for that reason, even though I am an American conservative. Nevertheless, I will support Erdogan and the Turks over almost any of their foreign critics like the Russians or some in the West. The Turks have always been staunch allies of the USA and faithful members of NATO and that means allot to me. They have always supported international security. My father fought in the Korean War and told me about the Turkish soldiers there who were legendary for their bravery. I worked with them in NATO. I definitely want Turkey on my side if I have to go to war.

Interesting. I hadn't heard of them so I looked them up. I really admire Ataturk and so that is why I don't think I would have had a problem supporting the CHP if I were Turkish so maybe MHP if they remained "Kemalist" . I don't have any problem with Islamic influence per se, as long as it reflects the best values of Islam. I personally am a bit of a Catholic nationalist, but as an American, I prefer to live in a secular republic were all are equal, regardless of faith or ethic background.
