There are no evidence to suggest that Sri Lanka was a tributary state of Maurya Empire.
i agree, btw 2 sons of Ashoka went to lanka to spread Buddhism.

That's what I was referring to. Muslims made India their home like everyone else before them.
no, Indian Muslims are Indo-Aryans and Dalits. most likely in next 500 years they will again join their casts. vaishyas and dalits.

lol this is ancient history which isn't relevant what so ever.

it is Relevant to us, because first time in our History we Indians Conquered foreign territory. (last time was ASEAN)

Anything hindu is ignored/abhorred or simply abandoned

We dont identify with any hindu kings and their history is not taught

Many pakistanis view pre islamic india as full of jahilat

what is the meaning of "jahilat"?

and some pakistanis do not identify with hindu kings. in fact they do not identify with anything hindu. which is really sad. but its still their choice

.
And still want to lay claim to pre islamic civilization ? how do you guys reconcile to this oxymoronic intellectualism?

If it is identified as part of Pakistan like indus civilization then it is accepted

But the hindu eastern civilization is not

I was talking about the Turkic, Afghan, Persian rulers of India.

Basically you guys have been taught distorted history to preserve your identity and to ensure you guys have no affinity to Indians and Hindus and to artificially create super views as a being, as displayed in this forum.

I don't like British or Muslim period of history but still had to read it in great detail and had to pass it in school. Real confidence and faith in your ability will be visible once you read correct history.

Pakistan is here to stay. Remove religion ...lot of it.... than what is current ......and evolve nicely. You can be 100% Muslim state and try being secular...

Our history is accurate

Your right we have no affinity to india or hindus.

Honestly speaking the confrontation and wars of the last 60 years has created alot of emnity so it has become difficult to connect to some of our shared past

Ashoka sent emissaries to Rome even, that doesn't mean the destination were his tributaries. But i admit the Sri Lankan king then was a huge fan of Ashoka. He himself donned Ashoka's regal title. "Devanampiya"

I was taught the Gandhara civilisation and Ashoka quite a lot until class 9 after which we started preparing for our O level Pakistan studies exam which consisted of history from Aurangzeb till present day. The good thing was that when we were learning about Gandhara was that we were in that region (I'm from Islamabad) ie I had the Margalla hills and Taxils quite close by. We don't get taught much about the kings you have mentioned because they aren't really from our region unlike the Mughals who had Lahore as the capital or Muhammad bin Qasim who captured present day Pakistan.

One more thing.. I was taught about Gautama (Buddha) as well first then Gandhara and Ashoka.

They're not ancient, but I've massive respect for Ranjit Singh and Hari Singh Nalwa - both illustrious sons of the soil. I'd happy to see if Pakistan names a few of its weapons after them.

The problem with all of this right now is that both sides are pushing a narrative of Hindu this and Muslim that. History is being abused in the name of modern politics.

In reality, Everyone was for themselves only.
Hindu Peasants would sit on a hill and watch Muslim armies defeat their own Hindu king, and vice versa. The reason for this is that people did not identify with their Hindu or Muslim rulers, they identified with their family and village only. Did it matter that you had to pay your taxes to Hindu, Buddhist, or Muslim kings? You paid regardless.

For example, Asoka the Great was not righteously fighting invading Muslims or Christians. He was invading fellow Hindu lands and we all know how brutal his military campaigns were.
